Ubuntu install on non-hvm xen install
Hi All, I'm trying to install ubuntu from an ISO on a Cloudstack install using a non-hvm xenserver installation as the hypervisor. I downloaded the ubuntu alternative x86 ISO. I uploaded it via the templates section in the UI and modified the database entry for it to change the HVM flag to 0. With this I can successfully boot the virtual machine from the CD and the ubuntu installer opens. However one I attempt to execute the detect network or detect disk stages of the installation VNC starts to drop out and the log file starts fill up with: INFO [c.c.c.AgentHookBase] (AgentManager-Handler-3:null) Re-authentication result. vm: 8, host address: , port: -1 INFO [c.c.c.AgentHookBase] (AgentManager-Handler-4:null) Re-authentication request, ask host 1 for new console info WARN [c.c.h.x.r.CitrixResourceBase] (DirectAgent-251:ctx-852722b2) There are no Consoles available to the vm : Template that allows VM installation from Xen-aware Debian-based distros. To use this template from the CLI, install your VM using vm-install, then set other-config-install-repository to the path to your network repository, e.g. http://server/path The VM eventually powers off. Any idea why this happens and any idea if its possible to work around it? Thanks, Ian
basic networking, single server
I'm reinstalling CloudStack on a single server with lots of RAM, CPU cores, and storage. I also have a single 192.168.100.0/24 private network, which was set up before I was hired and can't be easily reconfigured due to the high number of employee workstations currently connected to it and occupying IP addresses across this range. I see that the CloudStack documentation strongly recommends separate NICs for management traffic and guest traffic. This server does have two NICs, so what would be the ideal way to configure the network? Another switch with a different subnet for the management network? What about the storage network?
Re: basic networking, single server
I forgot to mention this system is entirely for internal purposes. We don't need a public network. Re: VPN for VPC feature in 4.3
Hi Praveen, I was wondering if you've solved this problem that you were having with VPC not getting the IP on the public interface? I've upgraded ACS from 4.2.1 to 4.3.0 and noticed that all my VPCs do not have the public IP address assigned to them on eth1. I've followed the upgrade instructions and I've downloaded the new system vm as well as restarted all system vms. My VPCs worked perfectly well on 4.2.1, but they are not working now as VPC vr doesn't have a public IP. I've got plenty of free public IPs and I am also using kvm. problem with VPC's public IP after upgrading to 4.3
Hello guys, I've upgraded my ACS install from 4.2.1 to 4.3 and have noticed a problem with VPC services. Upon investigation i've noticed that on my VPCs eth1, which is supposed to be the public IP interface is not configured with IPs. all other interfaces have IPs assigned. If I do ifconfig eth1 up and use tcpdump to sniff the traffic on eth1 I can see the public traffic coming to the interface, so it seems that there is an error or problem getting the public IP address to the VPC router. There are no errors in the logs of the virtual router. I've also deleted the vpc vr and also tried restarting vpc. Nothing helps. All other system vms (CP, SSVM and none VPC VRs are working fine). I've followed the instructions and downloaded the new 4.3.0 systemvm template as well as restarted all system vms following the upgrade. Thanks for any help Andrei
RE: Frequent NFS not responding, timed out issue
Hi Shanker, Thanks for your suggestion, I would give it a try. Isolating VM traffic from storage traffic, that's the best practice. I wish I had a chance to make recommendations about the design from the start. I also think about upgrading openvswitch, there seems a lot of performance improvement. But there is not much information out there, especially the compability and which version is supported with Xenserver. Btw, we are now focusing on control those VMs that are flooding packets. The system now can sustain a lot more flows going through. RE: Cannot delete F5 device
Hi Amin, ntwk_service_map table in cluod DB shows the service providers in each network. You can get the network id where F5 is being used as LB service provider. Then look for that network in networks table. -Sanjeev -Original Message- From: Amin Pashapour [mailto:jol...@yahoo.com] Sent: Monday, May 05, 2014 11:30 PM To: users@cloudstack.apache.org Subject: Cannot delete F5 device Hi All Using CS 4.2.1. RE: basic networking, single server
Hi, You can use single subnet and multiple NICs is not a mandatory. If you want to use separate NICs for management and guest traffic you have to use traffic lables. Please refer admin guides on how to use multiple NICs. -Sanjeev -Original Message- From: Ian Young [mailto:iyo...@ratespecial.com] Sent: Tuesday, May 06, 2014 4:11 AM To: users@cloudstack.apache.org Subject: Re: basic networking, single server I forgot to mention this system is entirely for internal purposes. We don't need a public network. On Mon, May 5, 2014 at 3:39 PM, Ian Young iyo...@ratespecial.com wrote: I'm reinstalling CloudStack on a single server with lots of RAM, CPU cores, and storage.

Can you please outline the steps in uploading intermediate and root certificates? Specifically, was the id parameter set (1 for root, 2 for intermediate_ca_1 etc..)
