Re: Error while deploying a new VM

2014-07-24 Thread sandeep khandekar
Dear ALL,

Previously I used to have cloudstack, it was running properly, created the
instances successfully also. I destroyed the prevoius installation of
cloudstack. not removed any of the files of previous
cloudstack(/export/secondary, /export/primary) . I just wiped the database
"drop database cloud;" and again created the database and
installed/downloaded isos everything properly.

Everything is coming up except my virtual router. is these causing problem?
Any idea how to solve these ?

Exactly , it will you tell the reason for the failure if you check above
the error message and there are so many reasons for the same error message "
insufficient server capacity exception".
Also grep for job -15 and provide all the job-15 details.

Re: Change IP subnet of cluster

2014-07-24 Thread Carlos Reátegui
Not sure if it is related but I see 2 entries in the mshost for my same server
but with different msid. Both show as ‘Up’. In reading the table comments it
seems the msid is based on the MAC. I am guessing this may be due to using a
bond and that it may be have selected a different NIC to get the bond MAC from.
Is it ok to have both of these entries? Should I mark the old one as Down?

Along these lines is there something similar with the hosts and that is why the
MS is having problems connecting to them, ie. the MACs don’t match?

thanks,
Carlos

Re: Cannot access any consoles, View console time out (Instances, CPVM, SSVM)

2014-07-24 Thread 양용석
Oh, you meant the consoleproxy.url.domain. After setting it to blank, it
looks similar, though it shows 192.168.0.131 instead of 192-168-0-131.
And as for restarting the cvpm, the cpvm automatically started after I
stopped it. I've included the logs. There are 3 warnings, but no exceptions.
CPVM public IP address is 192.168.0.131, and the single VM I have seems to
have an address of 192.168.0.134 (in the NICs tab).
Thank you for all your help, but I may have to try it on another PC or a
different network :(

Re: download template -> delete vhd

2014-07-24 Thread Nitin Mehta
Tomasz - This fix works but you should rather make the fix on the MS code
which sends the deletion command rather than on the systemvm side.
Moreover if you stop/start ssvm you would loose this jar. You have to
rebuild systemvm.iso and put it back on the host (depends on hypervisor in
use). My suggestion is to change the following hardcoding in the command
below. It should be Upload.Type.VOLUME when you are deleting the volume
link and should be Upload.Type.TEMPLATE when deleting template link.

DeleteEntityDownloadURLCommand cmd = new
DeleteEntityDownloadURLCommand(installPath, Upload.Type.VOLUME,
downloadUrl, ((ImageStoreEntity) store).getMountPoint());

Thanks,
-Nitin

Re: dual NIC VLAN configuration

2014-07-24 Thread Ian Young
Here's the less verbose version: My hypervisor has two NICs and I've set
up a label on each. Traffic to and from cloudbr0 works perfectly. Traffic
going into cloudbr1 goes out cloudbr0 because that interface has a default
gateway. Will this pose a problem when I try to set up separate management
and guest networks in CloudStack?

Change IP subnet of cluster

2014-07-24 Thread Carlos Reategui
Hi All,

Had to move one of my clusters to a new subnet but it is not working (e.g.
192.168.1.0/24 to 10.100.1.0/24). These are the steps I took:

Environment: CS 4.1.1 on Ubuntu 12.04, XenServer 6.1, Shared NFS SR.

1) stopped all instances using cloudstack UI
2) stop cloudstack-management service on MS
3) Used XenCenter to kill the system VMs (no other instances running)
4) Created backup of cloud db.
5) Followed http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX123477 and successfully
changed the IP of hosts. According to XenCenter everything is good
including SR.
6) Changed IP of MS
7) verified communication between MS and Hosts using ssh and ping with new
IPs.
8) used sed to search and replace all old IPs with new IPs in cloud backup
sql file (e.g. sed -i.bak 's/192.168.1./10.100.1./g' clouddb.sql).
9) visually verified all diffs in the sql file and made sure no references
to 192.168 left.
10) loaded up new sql
11) search all files under /etc on MS for old IP. found and
edited: /etc/cloudstack/management/db.properties
12) start cloudstack-management service on MS

Unfortunately things are not working. The MS is apparently unable to
connect to the hosts but I can not figure out why from the logs.

Logs here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s5glxrbyatmsoug/management-server.log

Any help recovering is appreciated. I do not want to have to re-install
and create/import template for each of the instance VHDs.

thank you,
-Carlos

dual NIC VLAN configuration

2014-07-24 Thread Ian Young
I am trying to set up a server with two NICs as a hypervisor. I would like
to use the two interfaces to separate management and guest traffic, as
recommended by the CloudStack installation guide. This server is connected
to a managed switch, which is connected to a hardware firewall, both of
which are set up with tagged VLANs. Some of the ports on the switch are
designated as VLAN 6 and some are VLAN 7. I've confirmed the VLANs are set
up correctly by configuring eth0 and eth1 (one at a time) with the
appropriate IP address, netmask, and gateway.

However, the difficulty arises when I try to configure both interfaces
simultaneously. The return traffic tends to go out whichever interface is
associated with the default gateway, a typical issue when using multiple
network interfaces. I've followed numerous guides, which all basically say
the same thing: Don't set a default gateway; use iproute2 to control the
flow of traffic with route-eth0, rule-eth0, and rt_tables. I've tried
setting this up numerous times to no avail, probably because the guides I'm
reading don't involve VLANs. Add to that the the cloudbr0 and cloudbr1
bridges that CloudStack requires and now I'm really confused as to how to
set up the network. I can't be the first person to have set up CloudStack
this way; it sounds pretty common. Can someone explain to me the correct
way to configure these interfaces?

Here is my network information:

VLAN 6 (management)
192.168.101.0/24
gateway: 192.168.101.1

VLAN 7 (guest)
192.168.102.0/24
gateway: 192.168.102.1

current hypervisor settings:
eth0: 192.168.101.4
eth1: 192.168.102.4

current management server settings (this is a separate machine):
p4p1: 192.168.101.3

snapshot.backup.rightafter doesn't work

2014-07-24 Thread Gerolamo Valcamonica

Hi everybody
i'm usign CS 4.3 on KVM and CEPH

So, according to the bug
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CLOUDSTACK-4858

the setting snapshot.backup.rightafter doesn't work, making it
impossible to use the snapshot feature, because it takes several tens of
minutes only for copying volume snapshot from primary to secondary storage.

This is the timing for a backup feature, not for a snapshot.

Is anyone other than me that is affected by this missing feature.

Can a developer take care about this?

Thanks

Re: xenserver gpu passthrough

2014-07-24 Thread Tim Mackey
John, the official HCL for GPU passthrough is here:
http://hcl.xensource.com/GPUPass-throughDeviceList.aspx.

That being said, the list represents the combination of GPU card and server
which was tested either by Citrix or the vendor and found to work reliably.
Some of the considerations included the ability install the card (risers
and the like), as well as power the card (some servers simply can't supply
the power), and available cooling (most card run pretty hot). The HCL is
by no means exhaustive of what can work, and I've seen situations where a
vendor such as Dell is offering a GPU server configuration which isn't on
the list. Typically that just means the vendor either didn't send us the
data, or we're a bit behind on getting it posted. Since you don't see
R210s offering a GPU option that probably means Dell doesn't feel
installation of a GPU in those servers is viable. Since they are smaller
than the R420s, that more than likely is a case of space, cooling and power
consumption.

Simple question: Anybody using this is integration in production?

What is the UX? Does it require tmp_auth?

Re: CS 4.2.1 - XenServer 6.2 - SSVM not starting, change from starting to Stopped

2014-07-24 Thread motty cruz
my installation was broken, I had to re-create the zone. First time I
create the zone got an error message complaining about primary storage.
after fixing liable in XenServer, re-create the zone SSVMs worked
properly.

Thanks,

xenserver gpu passthrough

2014-07-24 Thread John Muckley
Hi guys,

Can anyone tell me or point me in the direction of a hardware compatabiliy list
of servers that support GPU passthrough with xenserver 6.2?
It seems to be available on Dell R420’s and Dell R620’s, but is missing from
the R210’s and I wondered if there is a definitive list anywhere.

Thanks

John

Re: download template -> delete vhd

2014-07-24 Thread Tomasz Zięba
Hello,

https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/blob/master/services/secondary-storage/server/src/org/apache/cloudstack/storage/template/UploadManagerImpl.java

We analyzed that the problem is in this line:

if (cmd.getType() == Upload.Type.VOLUME) {

This line is always true because cmd.getType() return Type.VOLUME also when
function call concern the snapshot.

We made some small modification:

String VOLUME_ROOT_DIR = "volumes";
if((cmd.getType() == Upload.Type.VOLUME) &&
(cmd.getPath().toString().toLowerCase().contains(VOLUME_ROOT_DIR.toLowerCase({

and evertything is OK.

Unfortunately this change cause to rebuild systemvm (replace
cloud-secondary-storage-4.2.1.jar).

If you saying that in version 4.4 this error is corrected it will have to
happen somewhere in creating the cmd object and the call cmd.getType ()
return type is different than the VOLUME.
