Root admin system capacity after upgrade to 4.3

2015-01-12 Thread Yuri Kogun
Hi,

We have upgraded Cloudstack on the test system from 4.2.1 to 4.3.1 , After the
upgrade,  on the root dashboard in the system capacity I can see only  charts
for  Zone CPU, memory and secondary storage.  Before the upgrade we used to
have charts on primary storage, Public and shared IP's.

If I click on one of the charts in  system capacity , it directs me to  Zone
details table, where  I can see the stats on all resources as expected. Apart
from that we don't have any problems with the cloudstack installation and no
errors in the logs.

Should I be worried or just ignore this ?

Thank you
Yuri

I am sorry but I cannot find where to change the broadcast domain type and

have created two guest networks but there state is always shutdown and I
cannot either delete them or edit them.

Thank you again for your time!

Re: problem using own shared network offering

2015-01-12 Thread Stephan Seitz
Jayapal,

thank's for your quick response. Yes, I've tried to add the
NetworkOffering via cloudmonkey / API but I sadly failed at the syntax
for the serviceproviderlist (I'm not too deep into python)...

That are my two trials (without success since syntactical issues)
a) With DHCP directing to a BareMetalDhcpProvider

create networkoffering \
name=sharedExtDHCP \
availability=Optional \
conservemode=True \
displaytext=sharedExtDHCP \
egressdefaultpolicy=False \
guestiptype=Shared \
ispersistent=False \
networkrate=200 \
servicecapabilitylist=Dhcp,DNS,UserData \
serviceproviderlist=Dhcp:BaremetalDhcpProvider,DNS:VirtualRouter,UserData:VirtualRouter
 \
supportedservices=Dhcp,Dns,UserData \
traffictype=Guest

b) Without any DHCP

create networkoffering \
name=sharedNoDHCP \
availability=Optional \
conservemode=True \
displaytext=sharedNoDHCP \
egressdefaultpolicy=False \
guestiptype=Shared \
ispersistent=False \
networkrate=200 \
servicecapabilitylist=DNS,UserData \
serviceproviderlist=DNS:VirtualRouter,UserData:VirtualRouter \
supportedservices=Dns,UserData \
traffictype=Guest

Anyway, I'm curious about Sanjeev's response, stating that 4.4.2 doesn't
support that kind of setup at all. Would this mean 4.3.x supports it and
4.4.x not? Or has it never supposed to work since?

Thanks!

- Stephan

  Hi all,

  I'm trying to connect external, non-ACS hosts to particular VM's (running
  in advanced Zone on 4.4.2).
  What I've done:
  - adding Hosts on a tagged VLAN at switch-layer
  - creating a new shared guestnetwork w/ given VLAN id Here a ran into
  trouble due to DHCP. One of that external hosts is (and needs to be) a
  DHCP/TFTP. An ACS Router also answered to DHCP requests which it shoudn't...
  So i went further:
  - deleting that new shared guestnetwork
  - adding a shared Network Without DHCP Service NetworkOffering
  - trying to create that new shared network w/ given VLAN id w/ my own
  offering. -- I'm unable to select other Offerings than the default shared
  and quickcloud.
  I'm stuck here. Could someone please shed some light why I can't introduce
  own shared NetworkOfferings?

  Goal is:
  That existing DHCP/TFTP should be able to kickstart baremetal hosts (as it
  does since a while) and additionally particular ACS VM's on that network.

  Any tips really appreciated!

 服务器(A,B,C...)

RE: How to reduce the size of the cloud_usage database

2015-01-12 Thread David Williams
Hi Rohit,

Our cloud_usage database dumps are getting large and take quite a while. The
cloud_usage database is around 25 GB with more than 86 million rows.

I don't know if there are currently performance issues affecting the
application.

Having a global configuration option which causes the application to delete
usage related records that are older than a specifed value would be great. An
API would be great too.

Thanks,

Dave

  Hi David,

  There is no official way to reduce the size of the cloud_usage database
  as it gets populated from the cloud database.

  Can you share why you want to reduce it? Are you're facing any MySQL
  performance issues?

  If your DB size is causing problems we could work with you to develop a
  new (global) configuration option to limit size or an API to limit
  past/historic data.

Anyone come across this log message:

-VM is now missing from host report but we detected that it might be migrated
to other host by vCenter

In our case we had a host recently go into maintenance mode with asyncjobs left
running for VM's on that host. We set the asyncjobs to 'Done' and the machine
boots but then gets turned off again 5 mins later. The log keeps on mentionning
this host report but I can't find any reference to it anywhere.

Anyone experience this before or have an idea of what might be going on?

Thanks!

RE: problem using own shared network offering

I think CS has never supported DHCP offering from external provider. Please
correct me if I am wrong.

Subject: Re: problem using own shared network offering

Jayapal,

thank's for your quick response. Yes, I've tried to add the NetworkOffering via
cloudmonkey / API but I sadly failed at the syntax for the serviceproviderlist
(I'm not too deep into python)...

That are my two trials (without success since syntactical issues)
a) With DHCP directing to a BareMetalDhcpProvider

create networkoffering \
name=sharedExtDHCP \
availability=Optional \
conservemode=True \
displaytext=sharedExtDHCP \
egressdefaultpolicy=False \
guestiptype=Shared \
ispersistent=False \
networkrate=200 \
servicecapabilitylist=Dhcp,DNS,UserData \
serviceproviderlist=Dhcp:BaremetalDhcpProvider,DNS:VirtualRouter,UserData:VirtualRouter
 \ supportedservices=Dhcp,Dns,UserData \ traffictype=Guest

b) Without any DHCP

create networkoffering \
name=sharedNoDHCP \
availability=Optional \
conservemode=True \
displaytext=sharedNoDHCP \
egressdefaultpolicy=False \
guestiptype=Shared \
ispersistent=False \
networkrate=200 \
servicecapabilitylist=DNS,UserData \
serviceproviderlist=DNS:VirtualRouter,UserData:VirtualRouter \
supportedservices=Dns,UserData \ traffictype=Guest

Anyway, I'm curious about Sanjeev's response, stating that 4.4.2 doesn't
support that kind of setup at all. Would this mean 4.3.x supports it and 4.4.x
not?

Re: Add services to active in-use Network Offering

One solution that comes to mind is: import the vm volume as a template in
cloudstack. Then deploy the vm to the desired network. At deploytime you
could specify the desired ip address for the vm.

Re: How to reduce the size of the cloud_usage database

Hi David,

Thanks for sharing, I think it would be useful to have CloudStack do the
cleaning up in a safer way.

I’ve added a ticket on JIRA and I think I can implement this small feature:

  If your DB size is causing problems we could work with you to develop a
  new (global) configuration option to limit size or an API to limit
  past/historic data.

ah, I didnt realize your network was created. so import volume, deploy to
network (specifying current ip address to preserve it).

VM's not in host report...turning themselves off.

2015-01-12 Thread Dave Dunaway
Anyone come across this log message:

-VM is now missing from host report but we detected that it might be
migrated to other host by vCenter

In our case we had a host recently go into maintenance mode with asyncjobs
left running for VM's on that host. We set the asyncjobs to 'Done' and the
machine boots but then gets turned off again 5 mins later. The log keeps on
mentionning this host report but I can't find any reference to it
anywhere.

Anyone experience this before or have an idea of what might be going on?

Thanks!

Dave.
