2016-11-28 Thread Mohd Zainal Abidin Rabani

Hi,

Is it possible to make mac address on instance static? Or after
installation it will be static?

Re: Billing for services

2016-11-28 Thread Audrey Roberto B Baldin
Thank for all the help about billing services.

After some initial troubleshooting we could put the usage service to work. For
some reason it was not populating the cloud_usage database but we could fix it.

I would like to know if you could help me understand some entries in the
database. Most of them are pretty easy to understand, but one in particular I
could not figure out.

When I check for the Network Usage (Bytes Sent/Bytes Received) (usagetypeid
4/5), when I look to values regarding the DomainRouter (type=DomainRouter), is
it a measure only for the Public Network traffic or a sum of every interface
for that particular VR (or VPC in my case)?

Dear Audrey,

Here is the man page of the usage service :
http://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/projects/cloudstack-administration/en/4.8/usage.html

You have 2 settings that might help you :

1/ usage.stats.job.exec.time
2/ usage.stats.job.aggregation.range

Best Regards.

I'm looking into the cloud_usage database, but it appears that some information
are missing, like they are not sync'ed with the production system.

I look into the accounts table for example, and can't find all accounts that
exists in the same table in the cloud database.

Is there any way to sync the data?

Dear Audrey,

The starting point would be to install and start the cloudstack usage service
(I think this step is well documented inside CS installation guide).
Basically, this service will collect and agregate usage for most CS metrics
(Instance running, storage, network, etc).
These metrics are then stored inside a MySQL DB (cloud_usage).

You can easily export these values directly from Mysql to Excel
(http://support.en.ctx.org.cn/ctx132030.citrix).

The second option (recommanded) is to use cloudstack API to get usage and
manage them with third part apps.

I personnaly tested Amysta few months ago, and it was pretty good.

Best Regards.

Dag, thanks for your return.

I'd looked at usage service, but could not figure out how to work with it, yet.
I've been reading some presentations from ShapeBlue about, but still coudn't
understand how to use it.

But I'm not sure, for example, if the usage service can show bandwidth usage
from each interface of the VPC. How can I bill for internet usage for example
if I can't measure only the internet traffic a user is consuming from the
public network?

Re: Disaster Recovery - VM- Cloudstack

2016-11-28 Thread Sergey Levitskiy
If you use VMware as a hypervisor then it is easily integrated with 3-d party
solutions like Veeam and Commvault. Veeam supports backup based on VM tag so
defining a tag for VM/template in ACS will automatically sign up a VM for the
backup policy.
Restore over existing VM is not a problem. The only challenging part if VM is
destroyed and expunged and needs recovering. Some DB ‘magic’ will be required
for this part including potential IP change.

Re: Reset ssh key

2016-11-28 Thread Linas Žilinskas
It seems to be intented. Basically if you have a VM with 'password'
feature enabled and ssh key enabled, the password is encrypted when
stored in the database. Then when you are changing the ssh key for a VM,
it resets the password so it can store it encrypted as well.

There's an API call which can retrieve the vm password later (after
initial reset / creation / start), but it is encrypted and can only be
decrypted using your private ssh key.

So technically this is a feature, with advanced security, but caused me
some headaches before as well.

Hi Tolga,

I'm not sure it as been raised as a bug but yes, when you reset the SSHkey
of a VM it also reset the user password. So I guest it's up to your
templates to support one auth method or both.

Are you using cloud-init or scripts defined in the CloudStack documentation
?

It’s possible a misunderstanding on my part – but how do you generate the
SSH keys?

If you do this from the CloudStack GUI: home > accounts > (accountname) >
(username) and click on the “generate keys” button – this does not

generate

SSH keys, this generates the API + secret key for that user. To generate
and upload SSH keys please refer to http://docs.cloudstack.apache.
org/projects/cloudstack-administration/en/4.8/virtual_machines.html

If you do follow this already – my apologies for the misunderstanding.
