Hello Bobi,

Thank you for the links.Yes I am based in Sofia.

I am quite new to ACS but I really like it so far and as soon as I
learn to handle it properly I hope to turn it into production at some point. So
there is a lot of room for testing and giving feedback :).

Best regards,
Jordan

HI Jordan,

There’s an RC2 vote going on for 4.11.2, here’s the packages:

Additional information:

For users' convenience, I've built packages from
c64591bdd2fd677c9a0ca1970d61d1be9f222326 and published RC2 repository here:
http://packages.shapeblue.com/testing/41120rc2/

4.11.2 systemvm templates are available from here:
http://packages.shapeblue.com/testing/systemvm/

Please test them and if give some feedback to community about your overall
experience with it, it would be awesome!

BTW, are you based in Sofia? We’ve been thinking about having a CloudStack user
group with some other contributors and techs in Sofia, would that be
interesting to you?

Thanks,
Bobby.

Hi Ivan and Rohit,

Thanks for your answer, The issue is closed, i juste added a new Host to CS (
move from three host to four host)
the CPU allocated was 150% on two of three host on my cluster and CS didn't
allow to deploy vm on the whole cluster , even if one host as enought
ressources, as the threshold is for the cluster and not for the hosts.

Hi, Nicolas. Any chance you are using local storage for VM volumes and
decreased memory on a certain node? Local storage-based VMs don't have certain
migration features to be rebalanced across the nodes. E.g. if you have
DATA-volumes attached it cannot be migrated.

Re: Storage volumes of destroyed VMs are left

2018-10-03 Thread Ivan Kudryavtsev
Fariborz, please clarify:
- it doesn't remove root volume
- it doesn't remove backing file for root volume
- it doesn't remove data volumes which were attached to VM

Depending on what to choose there are different answers:
1. bug
2. ok if other backing file users
3. by design, as Rohit said there is a PR for that.

Re: VR IP Association Command

2018-10-03 Thread Rohit Yadav
The Start(Command) is the initial command that is sent to start a VM, the
IpAssoc is used to associate a (new) nic/IP in a VR. On initial programming
(say deploying a fresh VR, or a VR after restartNetwork with cleanup=true is
called), the IpAssoc is sent that would configure all the necessary nics
expected on the VR (for example, at least the link-local ip, the guest network
nic/ip and the snat public nic/ip).

Greetings everyone,

When starting a new VR, the MAC address from "Start" and "IpAssoc"
commands (which are received on host side) differs.

1. why is this the case?
2. what is the significance of IpAssocCommand?

I am using cloudstack v4.9.2 and centos7.

brief example:

"com.cloud.agent.api.StartCommand": {
...
"nics": [{
"deviceId" : 2
"ip" : "172.24.2.107"
"mac" : "06:b7:78:00:00:53"

"ipAddresses" : [{
"publicIp" : "172.24.2.107"
"vifMacAddress" : "06:24:7c:00:00:53"
"newNic" : false

Ideally, with the new public IP range added, when you acquire a new public IP

Hi,

Here is the scenarios -

- 1 vNet with Source NAT enabled
- Public IP (x.x.x.x | vlan 777)
- Private Subnet (y.y.y.y/24)
- User’s VM instances running inside the private subnet.

New public IP range has been added into CloudStack physical network -
z.z.z.z/28
How can I move VR to newly created public IP range with least impact to
user’s VM instances?

Hi,
on VR I do not have any /etc/dhcphosts.txt
/etc/cloudstack/dhcpentry.json contains DHCP entry but /var/log/cloud.log
stops at last VR startup... no DHCP entry... and I still have DHCP issue! :(

Re: Local Upload to Storage - Volumes

2018-10-03 Thread Rohit Yadav
Hi Richard,

Setup a valid SSL certificate for SSVM/CPVM usage (go to UI->infra->setup
ssl/tls certificate). The upload template/volume from local storage tries to
perform a POST http request on a https enabled endpoint (the ssvm url) which is
why it fails. The other reason could be a bug. Debug by opening chrome/firefox
dev tools and track the network requests, see what fails/passes?

Hello
Every time I try and "upload from local" in storage. It creates an entry but
fails to upload the file. I've checked the logs but can find no reason why it
failed.
Is anyone able to help shed some light on why this may be happening?
Thanks

Re: Is that safe to put public IP directly on Virtual Router/ System VMs?

2018-10-03 Thread Rohit Yadav
Hi Netlynker,

Yes, you can. You can have your physical network hardware put stricter
ingress/egress rules as well, or you can route to management server and
CPVM/SSVM services via a loadbalancer.

A lot of people do have their VRs exposed to the public Internet, for example I
see: https://www.shodan.io/search?query=cloudstack

Hi,

I looked at the deployment architecture from document and it said to have
public IP addresses on Virtaul Router/System VMs.

Is that recommended setup?

How safe will it be to expose Virtaul Router/ System VMs directly to
internet?

Any recommendation is welcomed.

Re: cloudstack-usage does not start

Hi Ugo,

The usage server is unable to find the 'key' file, make sure to create a
symlink to the key file. Are you trying to run the usage server on a server
that does not have management server installed? If that's the case, you'll need
to copy the key and db.properties file from the management server to the server
where you're running usage server.

There is new/upcoming feature to allow users to delete volumes/disks when

The reason we don't do that now is to allow users to recover the VMs if they

Re: Live Migration From VMware to KVM?

2018-10-03 Thread Rohit Yadav
That's not possible (yet), but you can shutdown VM in vmware and import the
vmdks to a KVM host which will be mostly a manual or semi-automated exercise.
It will get tricky if there are multiple vmdks (differential disks) which will
require you to coalesce those vmdks before you import them to KVM.

A migrate feature may be implemented in future, for example, oVirt community
have done this way:

https://ovirt.org/develop/release-management/features/virt/virt-v2v-integration/

Re: Unable to migrate instance to new host

2018-10-03 Thread Rohit Yadav
Hi Jevgeni,

After upgrading to 4.11.1.0, by default we require that hosts are secured using
a new CA framework. To do that you can run provisionCertificate API against all
your KVM hosts and CPVM/SSVM hosts which will secure and onboard them to use
CloudStack issued x509 certificates.

By default all new KVM hosts added after one upgrades to 4.11.x will use the CA
framework, however the security will not be enforced (you can still have
unsecured hosts and it will still work). Only in case of VM migration, live
migration of VM will not be supposed between non-homogenous hosts (i.e. when
either src/target KVM host is secured but other is not).

You can read more about this here:
http://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/en/4.11.1.0/adminguide/hosts.html#security

Re: How to configure TLS on ACS 4.11.1 Web UI

Hi Netlynker,

You're right we've to fix the docs, as we've moved to using embedded jetty as
our webserver. The configuration can be found in
/etc/cloudstack/management/server.properties:

https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/blob/master/client/conf/server.properties.in#L35

You just need to create a jks file that has your https certificates under an
alias and configure the path and passphrase in the server.properties file where
you can also enable https and specify a port (8443, 443 etc).

What is the version of CloudStack you're using? You get this error when the

On one of my cluster i can’t deploy and/or restart (after cpu/memory update),
the only information i’ve got about the probleme is this message :

Cannot allocate cluster list [1] for vm creation since their allocated
percentage crosses the disable capacity threshold defined at each cluster at
global value for capacity Type : 1, skipping these clusters.

I checked cluster and global configuration cpu threshold, there are both with
the same value.

I was able to restart the impacted Vms with the global admin account as i could
chose the host.

So why the VMs did not start on the available host ? and Why the error log
appears event if the threshold is not reach on, at least, one of my server ?

Did i miss something ? or do i need to check something else ?

Most likely your database is not corrupt, but only few entries had the

Dear all,

Trying to get an advanced networking Cloudstack setup.

My environment is a xenserver 7.1 with 4 nics in 2 bonds
(Bond_01 and bond_23, those are set as labels on the network labels below).

Network setup is:

Management range (bond_01) - 10.10.10.10-20 (untagged)

Public range(bond_01) - 10.10.10.220-230 (untagged)

Guest vlans (bond_23) - 3500 to 3510

When the system VMs start up the cloudstack menu says
"starting" forever.

[cid:image002.jpg@01D45754.F399A870]From the Xenserver I can
see that vms are up and when I logging there are actually no interfaces.

This is just a test environment so no other configs are
involved.

I wonder why is this happening. Basic networking option works
without issues.

Btw is there any guide regarding System VMs behavior ?
Most of the guides explain what they do but not how they do it
(how are their IPs assigned when started up? Which of the interfaces is used
for communication with the management server etc..).

Thank you.

Re: Network "restart required - yes"

2018-10-03 Thread Rohit Yadav
Hi Andrija,

Since you're running an older ACS 4.8.x version, the rolling restart VPC code
does not apply for you. Performing restart of a vpc network (tier, and when
cleanup is not selected) will not restart the VPC VR but only re-apply the
networking rules.

When due to a failed shutdown of network elements or failed restart attempt,
the VPC fails to restart, the restart_required column in vpc table is marked as
true. This is the relevant code wrt 4.8:

https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/blob/4.8/server/src/com/cloud/network/vpc/VpcManagerImpl.java#L1553

It's possible that the restart flag in API response and UI is not actually
*necessary*, this is just a presentational issue for users to perform an action
when any past action may have failed.
