Re: Cloudstack Deployment

2024-01-17 Thread Bharat Bhushan Saini
Hi Jayanth,

The major part is the ISO uploads and template registration.

When RFC 1918 IP range uses with the nfs server as well, cloudstack unable to
create the system vm’s.
I also use wireguard to make communication between MS and KVM but it is also
not working.
I simple words with RFC 1918 IP range uses then I unable to launch a instance
because of no ISO and templates are present in cloudstack with ready status.

I need guide in the network part of cloudstack.

Thanks and Regards,
Bharat Saini

Hello Bharat,
Please let me know if your question is only on ISO uploads and template
registrations.

Template registration of an external QCOW2 or any compatible ones need only
SNAT to work towards the destination (where your QCOW2s are hosted). Please
note that secondary storage VM is responsible for this, and specifically the
"Public IP address" interface assigned and it doesn't matter if it is actual
Public address or as part of RFC 1918. As long as you've got reachability to
the external HTTP server where QCOW2 or similar are hosted, this will just work.

I don't think DNAT works for the system VMs as the URLs during template uploads
only point to "Public IP address" assigned to Secondary Storage VM. Please
check this out on the Cloudstack Web UI. If this address is part of RFC 1918,
then your client will attempt to make a connection to this only, and not the
DNAT address which you'd have externally configured. IIUC, there is no option
to set the DNAT address on Cloudstack.

Please also note the same for template or ISO copies across zones. The ACLs on
Apache htaccess file will be put as the "Public IP Address" on the secondary
storage VMs, however this can be manually edited to include the SNAT IP of your
secondary storage VM.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Jayanth

Hi Jithin,

I can use the RFC 1918 IP range behind NAT but it has to be configured in the
system itself.

Hi Bharat,

Can’t you use an RFC 1918 IP range behind NAT for cloudstack public traffic?

Hi Jithin,

That is the major requirement as I am lacking to have the IP range. So that’s
why I consider the create virtual network and that network NATing with the one
interface and one IP.

Hi Bharat,

For uploading template ISO using the register URL method you just need to make
sure that the URL is accessible from the public IP range provided in the zone.

Morning All,

Just to update, we managed to resolve the issue, but it had to be done manually
from the db.

Manually alter DB to remove templates from old zone

Successfully removed old templates > Old Secondary Storage > Old Zone

Changed "state" to "inactive" and added date & time to "removed"

Hi Friends,

We have a client who is running two VMs on our cloud. They are running GRE
tunnel between their VMs and a server outside our network. After last
reboot of KVM hosts, their GRE tunnel stopped working. The GRE tunnel is
established and private IPs are assigned to both peers buy peers are not
able to reach each other using their private IP addresses.

We have already added all protocols and CIDRs (0.0.0.0/0) into the security
groups belonging to the VMs.

Should we do something on hosts to allow GRE tunneling?

Please advise.

Kind Regards.

Re: Issues migrating primary storage

2024-01-17 Thread Jeremy Hansen
Extending these timeouts in the “wait” configs seems to have helped. One of my
1TB volumes is finally migrating.

WHat’s I’ve noticed is if I allocate a new 1TB volume, I can migrate this
between NFS and Ceph and it takes only about a 1 minute. I assume this is
because it’s “thin provisioned” and there’s no actual data on the volume.

But these other volumes I’m trying to move are also “thin provisioned” but
they’re a part of a LVM group. Does making a thin provisioned device part of a
LVM group defeat the thin provisioning? I know these volumes weren’t full, but
I thought perhaps there’s a chance that since it’s a pv in a LVM config, that
maybe that defeats the thin provisioning and it counts it as a full 1TB volume?
I’m just spitballing but I’m trying to understand how this works so we can do
the right thing when provisioning additional volumes.

Also, the behavior I’m seeing is it takes a very long time before I see the
block image show up on the Ceph side. Perhaps it preallocated a image before
copying the data? But it seemed strange that I wouldn’t immidiately see the
image appear on the Ceph side after initiating a migration. It’s hard to see
what’s actually going on from the logs and the interface.

Thanks

back in august we had a small discussion about a new website design,
led by Ivet [1]. In the meanwhile Rohit had investigated using
docusaurus as a publishing mechanism for the site. After the last few
weeks I have been working on integrating the two. The result so far
can be viewed on the staging site [2]

Please all have a look and give me any feedback you may have, so we
can move this forward.

multipath is not used in our environments at all.
The tests for PR https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/pull/8524 look ok

Hi Wei,

   Please see :

root@acs-apac:/etc/cloudstack/management# hostname -f acs-apac

One thing I saw right now in table hosts, the mgmt._server_id is still
corresponding to previous server

Right now, all the nodes are with state Up but with a timeout in logs. I
changed the mgmt._server_id for one host to the new id, current server, and the
state was updated to Disconnected. Now I'm a bit confused; should not all hosts
have the new mgmt._server_id, or is this updated over time?

For clarification, the hosts are up and reachable from cloudstack and vice
versa.

Regards,
Cristian

The msid should be same after restart.

Can you check if "hostname -f" works?

RE: MgmtId 345050133919: Req: Resource [Host:11] is unreachable: Host 11: Link is closed

2024-01-17 Thread cristian.c
Hi Wei,

   Please see :

root@acs-apac:/etc/cloudstack/management# hostname -f
acs-apac

I already have a headache. Anyone here who can provide support for this (not
for a fee)? I need to restore this CloudStack, but it is impossible on this
version.

Now any task I execute I see repetitive :

2024-01-17 14:41:20,892 DEBUG [c.c.a.m.ClusteredAgentAttache]
(AgentManager-Handler-9:null) (logid:) Seq 6-5811613844144914446: Forwarding
Seq 6-5811613844144914446: { Cmd , MgmtId: 345050149016, via: 6, Ver: v1,
Flags: 100111,
[{"com.cloud.agent.api.RebootCommand":{"vmName":"s-24960-VM","executeInSequence":"true","wait":"0","bypassHostMaintenance":"false"}}]
 } to 52239141482

So, I only see this in the log, one after another. Here I just tried to reboot
a secondary storage to see if it works. No matter what I try, I see a similar
repetitive event in the log, and it will not stop until I restart the
cloudstack-management.

Regards,
Cristian

I'm out of ideas.

Thank you,

Hi,

Can you mark the mgmt server as Down (or set "removed" to "now()") in the
"mshost" table , and retry?

Wei, is this with a VM/Volume not using multipath itself? If it is it
is definitely a reason to create a new RC, if it isn't I think we can
manage a known issue for a new feature.

Re: Cloudstack Deployment

2024-01-17 Thread Jayanth Reddy

Thanks,
Jayanth

Hi Bharat,

For uploading template ISO using the register URL method you just need to make
sure that the URL is accessible from the public IP range provided in the zone.

Specify Primary Storage location for snapshots

2024-01-17 Thread Granwille Strauss

Good Day

When making snapshots, the snapshot first stores the file in primary
storage and then transports it to secondary storage and afterwards
deletes it from primary leaving the copy on secondary storage. We
currently use local kvm server as the primary storage for our VM
instances. This means that the KVM host has limited disk space left to
temporarily save that snapshot. Is it possible for us to specify a
primary path where snapshot can temporarily store snapshots before
moving it to secondary storage? We have an extra NFS server, which we
cant to use as primary, because it has enough space for this purpose.
Please let me know?

I didn’t want to stuck in network part as I doing the deployment 3rd time but
didn’t get success in it.

Hi Bharat,

For uploading template ISO using the register URL method you just need to make
sure that the URL is accessible from the public IP range provided in the zone.

Looks like restoring on the exact same OS version is not fixing the issue... at
starting the cloudstack I get this error :

Unable to Setup Private Gateway

2024-01-17 Thread Bryan Tiang
Hi All,

We're setting up Private Gateway on VPC but not able to get the connection
to work. The connection is successful from switch to Private Gateway IP
using VLAN 995.

However when Private Gateway is created in VPC, the connection failed when
tested from Virtual Router.

Physical Network 3 is also used for Management & Public Network

Is there any other config that we could have missed?

+1 (binding)

both signatures checked, otherwise as I was heavily involved I am
trusting in all testing done along the way.
