Re: Snapshot download
Hi Nux, hmm, I would have sworn I’ve seen people sent them before including memory but maybe I was mistaken. -- Jimmy Van: Nux Datum: donderdag, 1 februari 2024 om 11:29 Aan: users@cloudstack.apache.org CC: Jithin Raju Onderwerp: Re: Snapshot download KVM VM snapshots are stored inside the qcow2 file of the VM, AFAIK. KVM VM snapshots are stored inside the qcow2 file of the VM, AFAIK. You can't separate it from the VM itself. You'll have to give the authorities this file unadultered. How to download these in this case? Even if it needs to be done manually from shell. Not being able to do it is not really an option here unfortunately. -- Jimmy
Re: Snapshot download
Hi, I will do some digging, for the purpose I meant a vm snapshot with memory is not only needed but a requirement. But as I mentioned and as Daan said, I will do some digging as they need to be saved somewhere. When I find something I’ll create a feature request. -- Jimmy Van: Wei ZHOU Datum: donderdag, 1 februari 2024 om 10:26 Aan: users@cloudstack.apache.org Onderwerp: Re: Snapshot download Hi, If you use KVM, you can create a volume snapshot from the vm snapshot, then download the volume snapshot. Hi, If you use KVM, you can create a volume snapshot from the vm snapshot, then download the volume snapshot. I do not think it is possible to download a vm snapshot with memory. -Wei On Wed, 31 Jan 2024 at 17:08, Jimmy Huybrechts wrote: > Hi, > > While doing some last tests before production I noticed there is no option > to download a vm snapshot (including memory if saved), now for some law > enforcement cases they will request such a snapshot with memory (after > proper warrants of course). Re: Snapshot download
indeed Jimmy, As Jithin says there is no API for this (afaik) so some spitting and digging is needed. The snapshot must be there on some storage though, as it can be restored. let us know if you find a good work around and have an issue created. Hi Jimmy, This feature is not available yet (others may confirm), could you open a feature request? -Jithin From: Jimmy Huybrechts Date: Wednesday, 31 January 2024 at 9:38 PM To: users@cloudstack.apache.org Subject: Snapshot download Hi, While doing some last tests before production I noticed there is no option to download a vm snapshot (including memory if saved), now for some law enforcement cases they will request such a snapshot with memory (after proper warrants of course).
