Great, looking forward to it!

I'm planning on 1 hour per talk on average (about 40-45 minutes
speaking plus 10-15 minutes Q&A and a few minutes between talks). If
you'd prefer more or less let me know, but you can plan on that.

Re: [ClusterLabs] Announcing ClusterLabs Summit 2020

2019-11-18 Thread Diego Akechi
Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the late response here.

From SUSE, we are still collecting the final list of attendees, but we
already have 6 people confirmed, but most probably we will have around
10 people going.

I would like to propose two sessions about some of our current work:

1. Cluster monitoring capabilities based on the ha_cluster_exporter,
Prometheus and Grafana

2. Cluster deployment automation based on Salt.

If there is not enough time, we can shrink them into one slot.

I don't have a specific topic to talk right now, but possibly I can talk about a
PostgreSQL 12 support of the pgsql resource agent, or share our test results
and the issues from a user's point of view.

Yes some helper classes on top of CTS concept of Scenarios and Test, to
match
my needs (resilient to exceptions, different setup/teardown for the same
scenario)
And I've also added SSH support for connecting to the cluster's VM, rather
than using
qarsh.

It's currently in a rough shape [1], but you're interested in looking at
how it works

Right, we have this small tool that automates creation of VMs, and builds
on top of CTS to runs regression tests for the resource agents we consume
in OpenStack (galera, rabbitmq, redis).
It's arguably rough, but it comes in handy whenever we want to validate a
resource agent change or reproduce a cluster behaviour.

Heya Ken,

I will try and be there. If there is time, I would like a slot where we
present a bit our current pcmk usage inside openstack, our experiences,
what works well, what we struggle with etc.

cheers,
Michele

Not sure how much time Damien has to polish it up and make it more
suitable for general use, but we (Openstack team @RH) are using
https://github.com/dciabrin/ra-tester quite a bit to validate any
changes we make to resource agents. It's indeed worth discussing this in
Brno.

I'm using libvirt as Vagrant provider and fence_virsh for fencing. Have a
look on the README, it is all detailed. The cluster is setup with fencing and
watchdog.

There's the Cluster Test Suite (CTS) provided with Pacemaker source code. It
can exercice any Pacemaker cluster you are able to build, with predefined
scenarios.

Sadly, there's no way (yet) to extend it with new scenario without patching it
and there's still some rough edges to deal with.

If you want to experience it, look at the tests of PAF project:
https://github.com/ClusterLabs/PAF/tree/master/test

It relies on Vagrant to build a full 3 nodes pgsql/Pacemaker cluster + 1 syslog
node collecting logs from all other nodes. All in one command (make) and 3
minutes. Then, there's some documentation about how to use CTS to exercice it.
Look at the README for more instructions.

Something along the lines:

- bring up 3 VMs
- configure a cluster using ansible for service X
- destroy node2

Hello. This is Rafael, from Canonical. I'm currently in charge of the
HA
stack in Ubuntu (and helping debian-ha-maintainers), specially now
for
20.04 LTS release.

I wonder if I could participate in the event and, possibly, have a
slot
to share our experience and the work being done, specially related
to
testing in other architectures, like arm64 and s390x.

Most definitely! I'll put you down for a speaking slot. (There's plenty
of time to change plans if necessary.)

Awesome! Appreciate! Thank you!

I also hope this opportunity can make us closer to upstream, so we
can
start contributing more w/ patches and fixes.

The summit is a great way to get started. Making personal connections
really helps everyone understand each other's contexts.

Looking forward to!

Details will be given on this wiki page as they become available:

We are still in the early stages of organizing, and need your input.

Most importantly, we need a good idea of how many people will attend,
to ensure we have an appropriate conference room and amenities. The
wiki page has a section where you can say how many people from your
organization expect to attend. We don't need a firm commitment or an
immediate response, just let us know once you have a rough idea.

We also invite you to propose a talk, whether it's a talk you want to
give or something you are interested in hearing more about. The wiki
page has a section for that, too. Anything related to open-source
clustering is welcome: new features and plans for the cluster
software projects, how-to's and case histories for integrating
specific services into a cluster, utilizing specific
stonith/networking/etc. technologies in a cluster, tips for
administering a cluster, and so forth.

I'm excited about the chance for developers and users to meet in

the
projects and strengthening the community. I look forward to seeing
many

I will be there. I would like to talk about Anvil! M3, our RHEL8 +
Pacemaker 2 + knet/corosync3 + DRBD 9 VM cluster stack. If time allows

[ClusterLabs] Announcing ClusterLabs Summit 2020

2019-10-15 Thread Ken Gaillot
I'm happy to announce that we have a date and location for the next
ClusterLabs Summit: Wednesday, Feb. 5, and Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, in
Brno, Czechia. This year's host is Red Hat.

Details will be given on this wiki page as they become available:

  http://plan.alteeve.ca/index.php/HA_Cluster_Summit_2020

We are still in the early stages of organizing, and need your input.

Most importantly, we need a good idea of how many people will attend,
to ensure we have an appropriate conference room and amenities. The
wiki page has a section where you can say how many people from your
organization expect to attend. We don't need a firm commitment or an
immediate response, just let us know once you have a rough idea.

We also invite you to propose a talk, whether it's a talk you want to
give or something you are interested in hearing more about. The wiki
page has a section for that, too. Anything related to open-source
clustering is welcome: new features and plans for the cluster software
projects, how-to's and case histories for integrating specific services into a
cluster, utilizing specific stonith/networking/etc. technologies in a cluster,
tips for administering a cluster, and so forth.

I'm excited about the chance for developers and users to meet in
person. Past summits have been helpful for shaping the direction of the
projects and strengthening the community. I look forward to seeing many
of you there!
