Re: Which graphics card for dual display?
I too enable twin or dualview BSD with GeForce 8600 GTS dualview preferrably liveboot no harddrive. dfly seems to really need harddrive while Linux easy is diskless. This liveboot gets twingraphics via dvi (very glossy compiz fusion): uname -a;df -h;pcimodules Linux localhost 2.6.27-desktop586-0.rc8.2mnb #1 SMP Thu Oct 2 05:52:21 EDT 2008 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz GNU/Linux FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on none 1.7G 22M 1.6G 2% / hsfpcibasic2 tg3 nvidiafb nvidia71xx nvidia173 nvidia-current nvidia96xx ide-pci-generic ata_piix pata_acpi ata_generic i2c-i801 ide-pci-generic ata_piix pata_acpi ata_generic iTCO_wdt ehci-hcd uhci-hcd shpchp snd-hda-intel ehci-hcd uhci-hcd shpchp intel-agp
Re: Which graphics card for dual display?
Hi Simon, Ive installed the nvidia driver on this box, following the instructions in the README. But when running startx I get NVIDIA: failed to set MTRR, at 0xd00 256MB (WC) Is this a problem? X seems to start normally. But no nvidia logo appears. Thanks, Petr
Re: Which graphics card for dual display?

No, I will remove that. In general any Intel (using ADD2 card) or dual DVI ATI card will do. From my personal experience (using various Intel, ATI and Nvidia cards) I'd recommend ATI up to R500 though. -- Hasso Tepper

I do have problems when using more than 2GB of RAM though, but it seems that this also happens on FreeBSD. cheers simon
