[libreoffice-users] Paragraph Styles Not Updating
Hi all, I am having to update a couple documents (contact directories) I created under OOo some years ago. I had to save the documents in MS Word format (*.doc), but used paragraph styles to maintain uniformity of style and ease of maintenance. I wanted to change the color for a particular heading style, and it should have changed the color for each of the headings of that style. Unfortunately, modifying the paragraph style did not change even the particular paragraph the cursor was on, let alone the other headings of the same style. I right-clicked on the paragraph style in the Styles list box, then chose the "modify" option. I then chose the font effects tab, and changed the color. I clicked "Apply" and "Ok". Nothing happened. I also made sure the "automatically update" option was checked. I saved the document as an ODT document and then tried the process again. Again, nothing happened. The document was originally created in OOo (can't say what version, just that I used a version recent enough to use ODF). Any ideas what I can do, apart from changing each heading individually, which styles are supposed to help me avoid? I am using LO 3.4.3 (Portable Apps). Thanks! Don -- D.C. Hi :) Did you mean you opened the Calc file in LibreOffice 3.3.1 on Windows 7 ? Did it open in MicroSoft Office instead? Windows machines often have MS Office instead of LibreOffice/OpenOffice and things do go wrong with the older ODS format sometimes. So, it is worth making sure you have a newer version of LibreOffice The 3.2.1 is very old so it's well worth updating to LibreOffice 3.4.3 or something like that. http://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If it really is OOo 3.2.1 then the OpenOffice forums might be worth trying http://user.services.openoffice.org/ Do you know what format the file is saved in? [libreoffice-users] in Calc: Keyboard trouble with Ctrl+Shift+RightArrow
Context: in Calc of LO 3.4.3 on WinXP Pro The cell range L155:AA155 contains empty cells. The cells on either end of that range are filled with numbers. The cell above L155 contains a formula. The task is to copy the formula from L154 to L155, make an edit, extend the range from L155 to AA155, Edit | Fill Right. The keystokes: In L154: Ctrl+C Down Arrow: moves to L155 Ctrl+V: paste Esc: terminate the "dotted border" focus on L154 F2: make the small edit Enter: terminate the edit Ctrl+Shift+RightArrow: SHOULD extend to AB156 where it finds the next filled cell in the row. ~: ACTUALLY extends selection to the entire column L. Workaround start as above until: F2: make the small edit Enter: terminate the edit RightArrow (once): shift focus from L155 to M155 LeftArrow (once): shift focus from M155 to L155 Ctrl+Shift+RightArrow: SHOULD and DOES extend to AB156 where it finds the next filled cell in the row. [libreoffice-users] Path change
I use Libreoffice with Ubuntu 11.04, the following is a copy of something I posted to Launchpad: I have a virtual drive partition on my computer, and have had since I bought the machine in 2006. Sometime after I upgraded to 11.04, the frive name changed from "Data" to "2127074260". I thought it odd, but assumed that it was the result of one of the fixes put out since 11.04 was released. I also have a Libreoffice spreadsheet set up with hyper-links to other files on the above mentioned drive. I use this spreadsheet, and the links, daily. About a week ago, I noticed that these links were no longer "clickable". When I checked, I found that the path in the hyperlink had changed. Below is an example: What the Path is supposed to be: file:///media/2127074260/St%20Luke%20Lutheran%20Church,%20Starkville/St%20Luke%20Records%202011/Gospel/46%20Matthew%2025%2014-30,%2013%20November%202011,%20Pentecost%2022a.odt What the Path had changed to: file:///media/media/2127074260/St%20Luke%20Lutheran%20Church,%20Starkville/St%20Luke%20Records%202011/Gospel/46%20Matthew%2025%2014-30,%2013%20November%202011,%20Pentecost%2022a.odt I am not certain if the path change and the drive name change are related, but because all this has happened since the upgrade to 11.04, I thought that here would be a good place to start. Re: [libreoffice-users] Mail merge seems slow
Hi :) Does that involve java somehow? Can you let us know which version of java you are using? Tools - Options - General/LibreOffice - Java Version 6u21 or _21 is the fastest. The _20 and _22 are ok. The _24 is slow and sometimes causes slight problems. Anything after _24 seems to causes crashes and all sorts./ Luckily it is possible to have 1 version of java for your web-browsers and everything else and a separate version installed just for LibreOffice. The devs are trying to eliminate the need for java where possible. I think they are usign Python instead but i'm not sure. Personally i would stick with the 6minutres rather than trying to fix the problem unless it's something you have to do quite often. It's irritating but fixing it might take a while. Using Paste Special method would work better in that case. As a side note, I think the Paste Special method is more intuitive (in general); I just wanted to mention an alternative. [libreoffice-users] Re: Error Formula...
Hi :) I think there are lists for many different languages. Perhaps try http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/ and just scroll down. Some lists might not be as active as others. It might help to let us know what formula, which app, which version of LO and which Operating System (Windows, Ubuntu, another Gnu&Linux, Bsd, Mac). Any of those sorts of things would be good to know even if you can't tell us all of them. Good luck and regards from Tom :) -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Error-Formula-tp3466731p3467295.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Re: [libreoffice-users] Problem LO Calc not copying formulae LMDE X64
Hi :) LMDE is "Linux Mint" http://linuxmint.com/ (i had to look it up as i thought the short form was "Mint" but the official name is LMDE now grrr). The DW page http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=mint It seems really wrong that the formula is not being copied as expected. Have you tried renaming the user-profile to see if some weird setting has gone wrong? http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=12426 Regards from Tom :) --- On Mon, 31/10/11, Stephan Zietsman wrote: > From: Stephan Zietsman > Subject: Re: [libreoffice-users] Problem LO Calc not copying formulae LMDE X64 > To: users@global.libreoffice.org > Date: Monday, 31 October, 2011, 7:36 Steve Fisher wrote: > > Enter "X" in B1, then enter following formula in A1 then copy formula to A2 > > =if(b1="X","AAA","BBB"), it copies the value "AAA" and not the formula > > =if(b2="X","AAA","BBB"). > > If I copy the formula from A1 to A2, the formula works as I would > expect; the formula in A2 is =IF(B2="X","AAA","BBB"). > How exactly do > you copy the formula from A1 to A2? If I copy the formula from A1 to A2, the formula works as I would expect; the formula in A2 is =IF(B2="X","AAA","BBB"). How exactly do you copy the formula from A1 to A2? Try typing exactly the same formula in a different cell. For example: in Cell P2 type the formula '+n2+o2' and let us know if this solves your problem.
