Border does not show in:
LibreOffice 3.4.4
OOO340m1 (Build:402) (linux)

It shows just fine in:
LibreOffice 3.3.4
OOO330m19 (Build:401)
tag libreoffice-3.3.4.1 (linux)

Looks like yet another regression with 3.4.4. Please file a bug report
(include your test file). Post back with a link to the bug report & I'll
be happy to add my comments regarding the test.

A different topic, but a pity that a proprietary video codec was used
to view an open source software...:)

Would you please convert to an open video codec so that it can be
viewed in html5 (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/html5)?

That's also true of LO. If I get an attached text file (in rtf format)
it says it's protected and I have to
save it under another name before I can edit it.

This could also be a 'feature' of your email client. For example,
Thunderbird on Windows works this way - if you open the attachment, it
opens in read-only mode. This was changed at some point, because it used
to allow you to edit it, but many people were confused because it didn't
save the changes to the attached file, but to the Temp directore where
Thunderbird stored it temporarily when opening it.

[libreoffice-users] Re: Cannot Save .odt file as .doc or .docx

2011-12-19 Thread Tom
Hi :)
Perhaps renaming the user-profile might clear the problem?
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/UserProfile

I don't have any trouble saving as doc or docX on 3.3.2. Sometimes MS
Office users find the pictures and logos have moved around a bit. I thought
3.4.x was better. Perhaps the problem is something to do with starting as
something very different? Can you start a new document and save that as
docX?

You can probably *install* them both but you may well have trouble running
them both. If you have the Quickstarter of one running you can't run the
other. This even applies if the "one" is the regular software installed on
your hard disc and the "other" is the portableapps.com version installed on
a USB drive; if the "regular" Quickstarter is running you can't run the
Portable version. This becomes a real problem if you have multiple users on
the same machine. I can kill the regular Quickstarter that's running for me
but I can't kill it for the other users who happen to be logged in but
inactive (Switch Users in Windows-speak). That means I can't run LO
(portable or not) if anyone else is logged on to the machine with his/her
OOo Quickstarter running. The converse is also true: I can't run OOo is
someone else's LO Quickstarter is running.

It appears to a a file associations issue. You can select which
application you want to use by default for various file types. You can
generally right click on a file, select "Open with" and choose the
application you want to use. There should be a check box to make it
default.

I don't know if your problem was the same as mine- I'm running 11.04 and
had HUGE delays in Inserting Rows.

I got rid of 3.4 and installed 3.3.X and it solved all speed problems I
was having.

Here's how I did it-

I deleted 3.4.3 which had been installed via Synaptic and all of the PPA stuff
that had to be added. Also deleted was the ./LibreOffice folder and an
old ./OpenOffice folder that contained who-knows-what but I read
somewhere to delete it...so...I did.

Then, I installed the following version;

LibreOffice 3.3.4
OOO330m19 (Build:401)
tag libreoffice-3.3.4.1

This version was found at- http://www.libreoffice.org/download/
The file was- LibO_3.3.4_Linux_x86_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz

146 MB

Once the file is downloaded and extracted you MUST read the README file
found in the main folder. It describes how to install LibreOffice. If
I can do itso can you. It's very easy and doesn't require all of
that esoteric ./configure, make, make install stuff that works for me
about 1% of the time.

I'm sure that on Windows XP (32 bit, Home, Italian GUIed) I have
LibreOffice to be run twice for the first use after install, next ones
start with one sole run.
On linux I don't remember exactly.

AFAIK, this has been the standard behavior since the version 3.3 or 3.4
when we started to register extensions at startup.

Well, the extensions should get pre-registered during the installation.
The cache is just copied during the first application start.

I add Andras into CC. He reworked the Windows installer for LO-3.4.5. It
is possible that he broke the pre-registration, so the cache is not
created and the first start is slower and more visible.

No, I did not rework the installer for 3.4.5, reworked installer is a

Fine, thanks: so I will do asap.

Now, I'm doing some more tests: in the last Windows XP, Pro (!), 32 bit,
SP3, updated, Ita GUIed, in which there was an old OpenOffice.org 2.4.0
installation (which, of course, I uninstall before installing LO 3.4.5
RC1), all goes well and the first run after LibreOffice installation
make LibreOffice itself appear. My previous Windows XP installation were
in Home version with already installed LibreOffice 3.3.2 (which, of
course, I uninstall too before installing LO 3.4.5 RC1).

This last case, compared and integrated with previous ones, seems to be
somewhat interesting so I'll surely describe it in the incoming new bug.

Have a sunny day,

[libreoffice-users] Border not visible

2011-12-19 Thread A.N.

Hi all,

I have asked this before but again I would like to address this problem.

http://www.4shared.com/file/ZNEMSh2R/border.html

Above link contains the sample Writer file to see if the border of the
frame will be visibly shown or not.

Created with LibreOffice 3.4.4. on Windows XP.
For some reason if I open this very same file in OpenOffice, the border
of the frame is shown visibly.

What could be the problem here

A.N.

If it does not ring any bell in Andras's head, it would be great to find
the bug.

Stefan did a great job. We are looking for feedback if it works as
expected.

Best Regards,
Petr
