This may or may not work: Try going to the Bug page and leave a
comment that you want your file to be removed. They may or may not do
so. Also, it may take a couple of days before anyone sees your message.

Thanks!
I already did that, but I guess I'll have to wait a few days to see if
anything happens.
I also managed to remove/change the file name, which shows the rtf with
all tags visible. But the Google 'Show as HTML' still shows the fully
readable document :(

Hi :)
If you uploaded the file to somewhere then try goign back to where you uploaded
it and remove it from there.

I had a look through the thread
http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/rtf-import-broken-in-3-5-1-td3877445.html
but i couldn't find the upload link in there.  If you did use Nabble then you
can go back to your post and edit out the link.  Subsequent replies might be
more difficult to deal with but people here are usually willing to help.

Another way might be to email postmaster here but i can't find the right
address right now.  The postmaster address might be in
http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/

Best first thing to try is fidning where you uploaded the file and see if you
can remove it from there.

The only thing I could do was to tag it as 'obsolete', which doesn't stop
Google from indexing it.

I could also change the file name and MIME type, but not remove it :(
It still pops up first when Googling for 'Magnus Hildershavn', and the
'Show HTML' still shows the formatted original file :(
I've been on several closed and open beta teams through the years, but I
have never ever before seen any of my attached/posted example files
popping up on Google!

IMO it is not a good policy to make such files available to robots.

Hello everyone,
I'm using OO on Mac OS and I'm starting it from an other application using
a command line from the terminal with arguments. I'm searching a way to
let or force LO window to stay on the top of all opened application.
I've not found any argument to do this. Does anyone have an idea how to do
this with argument from LO or uising an another method.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

If in doubt, try opening any bug report in another browser or Private mode.
If it is readable for you, then it is readable for search engine crawler.
Of course pages may provide meta name=Robots, but it's only up to crawler

[libreoffice-users] Libreoffice and Java

Re: [libreoffice-users] Libreoffice and Java

2012-08-24 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
This seems to be a well known problem.  The latest version of Java that works
seems to be around 1.6_32, ie the latest in their 1.6 branch.

TDF are trying to write-out any dependance on Java as it seems far tooo flaky
and vulnerable these days.  About the only things you still need Java for is
1. if you use Base with the internal backend rather than using Base as a
front-end connecting to a proper stable back-end
2.  Some of the wizards (which are best avoiding anyway as it's easier to do
things properly).
3.  A few Extensions which you might not really be using anyway.  (Contacting
whoever wrote the extension and let them know you like it might encourage them
to update it and move away from java)

So, 1st step is to try switching off the Use java runtime? option in
Tools - Options - Java
and see if you notice any difference at all.  If java is needed for something
it will just grumble and let you re-tick the option but you probably don't need
it at all now :)  If you do then install 1.6_32 alongside whichever version of
java you use for everything else.  (You can have more than 1 version of java at
a time).

Regards form
Tom :)

No problems here with fully updated Win7 64bit plus jre 1.7 Update 5. I
assume that you know you have to use the 32 bit Java with Win 7? At
least you used to and that's what I keep and have tested here.

I am a very basic database user - not too advanced.

I downloaded LibreOffice a few days ago and created a basic database file.
It simply consisted of a single table with approximately 20 columns, a

field to the form.

It appeared to work fine, but then I closed the form, which In had already
done a couple of times, and from that point on I receive an error and cannot
access anything.

I can close LibreOffice and open it. I can open the ODB file I created, but
if I attempt to even click on the Tables icon or if I attempt to open any of
my queries or the form, I receive the following error: The connection to
the data source DW Sponsorships Database could not be established. Out

If I click on More, I see the following additional info: SQL Status:
S1000 Error code: -72 Out of Memory

It is as if the Table has disappeared (probably corrupted).

This is a work file that my boss is expecting me to use TODAY - ouch!

Can anyone help?

Thanks

You need to make some changes in how LO uses memory:
Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Memory.
First change Number of steps to 20.
Change the Graphics cache for LO to at least 256 MB, much more if
you have some large images.
Change the memory per object to more than the largest image you
have. 1 MB should work if all the images are less than 1 MB.

Change the remove from memory to at least 1 hour (1:00)
You may need to change the Number of objects as well.

[libreoffice-users] Re: Cannot access my database file!

2012-08-24 Thread hover2gb
Dan,

Thanks. I have just attempted to do everything you mentioned, but it does
not seem to help.

For what it's worth, I forgot to mention that I am on a MAC, so I access the
settings through the Preferences menu, but everything appears the same once
inside.

I changed all settings to your recommendations, but still received the
error. I closed and restarted LO, but still the error. I then altered the
various settings up and down but still received the error in all instances.

I would like to understand what has happened, so I can access the DB and use
images, but if I could at least delete the images (don't know if that is
really the problem or not), maybe I could then use the file.

Re: [libreoffice-users] font problem - anybody?

2012-08-24 Thread webmaster-Kracked_P_P

I wonder if there is a problem with the font used or some other issue
with both the text and font type being placed into a Calc cell.

I assume you tried Paste Special and used unformatted text or
something like that.

The problem could be the mix between the two languages, since there are
glyph/character differences between fonts.

I wonder if a different Japanese font would work better. There was a
thread about different free Japanese fonts out there that were good with
LO. I do not know if I would trust MS's version of that language
font. I can look into my font folder and see what fonts were downloaded
from the referred sites. Switching to one of them might fix the
problem, or might not.

Good evening
I am working a translation (Japanese-German), using LOWriter + Calc
3.4.5
Both programs are set up to contain the same font.
Writer is used for writing the text, Calc to record special translation
terms I use (and want to remember).

BUT when I copy a term (Japanse, font = MS P Gothic, 10.5 point)
from Writer to an empty cell in Calc,
the text gets gets garbled up and the computer is not even able to tell
me what font that is.
And it does not matter HOW I copy, straightforward with Ctrl+V, paste
special, paste unformated text ...
the result is always the same! Unintelligible hiroglyphs.
Yet, it works the other way: copy a term from Calc, paste it into
Writer: no problem.

When I copy the same text from Word (original text is a Word file),
there are no problems at all.

Can somebody please explain to me what is happening here?
(the same thing has happend many times in the past and is VERRY
annoying!)

Oh, I just tried one more thing.
I select a term in Writer to copy and paste it into Excel -- no
problem!

So, why does copy and paste not work between Writer - Calc???

Thank you.

[libreoffice-users] Re: Cannot access my database file!

2012-08-24 Thread hover2gb
It may help for me to mention that I only added 2 images to the DB before I
began having issues. And the images were 1.7MB and 7 MB, so only a total of
8.7MB. I wouldn't think this should create any kind of memory issue

RE: [libreoffice-users] Libreoffice and Java

2012-08-24 Thread V Stuart Foote
Bob,

Review the LibreOffice Java configuration file with notepad, it is
located at
C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\3\user\config\javase
ttings_Windows_x86.xml

Note that it has stanzas for Location and Version details--those must
match the version of the 32-bit Java JRE you are attempting to run.

If you have an entry in your PATH environment variable pointing to a
32-bit JRE, then deleting the javasettings_Windows_x86.xml configuration
file will allow it to be rebuilt with the correct JRE details for your
system. This delete/rebuild during version upgrades is just part of
housekeeping that needs to happen.

If you don't allow the rebuild--then the old JRE 1.6 configuration file
will always fail with a 1.7 version JRE.

As to dropping use of a JRE--this link shows exactly the LibreOffice
components that have a Java dependency.

Subject: [libreoffice-users] Libreoffice and Java

I'm having a bit of a bother with any version of Libreoffice installed
with JRE 1.7 on Windows 7.

Libreoffice crashes on start with any version of Java JRE greater than
1.6. If I go back to 1.6 I'm O.K.

Anyone else having issues?

If so and this is a new bug, what do you want to see?

Right under EVERY post on this group there is message which starts with:

Please don't take it personally, but one thing wonders me: how come that
people have problems with unsubscribing, while it is totally the same as
subscribing (you just send message to another address)?

If in doubt, try opening any bug report in another browser or Private

If it is readable for you, then it is readable for search engine crawler.

Yes, but the attachements are not really readable by me directly, and
neither do they need to be to the robots. Finding info about the bugs on
Google is fine, but as attachments are not really part of the page content
of those bug pages I don't think it should be made available for indexing
by crawlers.

Of course pages may provide meta name=Robots, but it's only up to
crawler
authors if they comply these. One search engine will, another will not.
The

most popular, Google, currently does comply to these.

Exactly - and as most people use Google it would prevent most people from
seeing it.

[libreoffice-users] 3.6 Calc Problem

2012-08-24 Thread Jeff Hahn

I am having a problem with Calc in 3.6.
The program locked up while I was using it. The only way I could
get it to start again was to shut the computer off. However, now
when I try to call up an existing spreadsheet or try to start a new
one the program tries to recover the old file. I go through the
recovery steps. The old file is recovered, it appears on
the screen for an instant and then disappears. The program reverts
to the initial screen for LO. This only happens with Calc and, as I
said, happens when I try to use both new and existing files. If I reject
trying to recover the old file the program reverts to LO's initial screen. I
have uninstalled and reinstalled the
program three times ( twice using the uninstall function in Windows,
once when I downloaded a new copy of LO and elected the Remove option. It
did not help. I also used CCleaner to remove the
temp files, etc. after I uninstalled LO. I have also used the search function
in Windows to find all of the Untitled Calc files and deleted them to no
avail. The other LO functions (Writer, Presentation, etc.)
seem to be working normally. I should also report that when the
problem first appeared I had a problem with Windows 7 at the same
time. The Windows problem was corrected before I started to
uninstall/install the program to try to correct the above problem. It would
seem that there is a temporary
files somewhere that remains in the computer even if LO is
uninstalled. I shut the computer off after an uninstall so I assume the
file isn't in memory. All suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.Jeff
