[libreoffice-users] Re: the gallery in LO

2015-02-18 Thread V Stuart Foote
@John, *,

You don't mention which branch of LibreOffice, but at 4.3 the Gallery dialog
has been moved exclusively to the Sidebar deck. Display of the deck is
controlled from the Sidebar Tab bar--the Sidebar deck can be collapsed down
to the Tab bar, to just a button on the window edge, or closed completely.

The View -> Sidebar, and residual View -> Clip Art Gallery will toggle the
Sidebar active--Clip Art opening directly to that content panel in the deck.

Any of the Sidebar Tab buttons on the Tab bar will shift the deck to the
corresponding content panel. In Calc spreadsheet that would be Properties,
Styles and Formatting, Gallery, Navigator, Functions. For the 4.4 branch, a
second click on a Tab bar button will close the Deck leaving just the Tab
bar showing.

Point is--you can use either menu or mouse actions (or keyboard only) to
open, hide or close the Gallery in its docked or undocked position in the
Sidebar widgets.

[libreoffice-users] the gallery in LO

2015-02-18 Thread John Sowden
I opened the gallery, how I don't remember, using LO Draw to create some
floor plans. Went well. Recommend it. However, when I went back to
accounting in the spreadsheet, I could not get rid of "the gallery".
The logical place to find how to add/remove it is in "View". Not
there. I found it in tools, after a lot of searching, including the
Help System (to no avail). As there is no ellipse ( ...), there are
only two options: 1. Display it. 2. Do not display it. (Binary :) ).
A more intuitive UI might be a check mark, and maybe even put it in the
View menu.

That's it.

John

Only by saving your document, I hope! If you mean that you have
actually completed the Save of the document (which may involve
providing a file name and destination folder in the Save As dialogue
for a new document, of course) then something is wrong.

Note that some activities that you might not consider changes will
modify the document and will bring the Save icon out of its greyed-out state.

I trust this helps.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Hyperlink Not Underscored

2015-02-18 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
When you type an internet address and then put a full stop after it that
full-stop sometimes gets included in the address so that people clicking on
your link then go to the wrong place, usually an empty page such as "404
Page not found"

The underlining usually happens after you type a couple of spaces or after
you press enter.

It could easily be something else though

Tom :)

Re: [libreoffice-users] The Save Tool could not be dimmed

2015-02-18 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
It is actually better to post each question as a separate thread instead of
bunching them together. It mean your subject-line can be more directly
relevant to the question and that will hopefully increase your chances of
getting a good response from someone interested in that topic.

The "Save" button 'should' dim when there is no difference between your
latest saved file and the way the file appears in LibreOffice or
OpenOffice.

So, try saving to a different folder in case you were saving it somewhere
weird or incase the file was getting corrupted or changed somehow. Also
check that your keyboard doesn't have a key jammed somehow or repeatedly
hit so that it's repeating a key(s). A fav for that is to remove the cat
from the keyboard (if that is possible).

Regards from
Tom :)

[libreoffice-users] Hyperlink Not Underscored

2015-02-18 Thread Taang Zomi
Hyperlink Not Underscored

I am a novice when it comes to computers.

Earlier today, I was encountered with two strange behaviors in LibreOffice
Writer.

(1) In the footer of the page, I had page number and date, in the template.
But when I clicked the template, there was no page number (and no date) in
the footer.

(2) Whenever I typed an internet address, there was no underscore:
http://www.libreoffice.org. The underscore does not appear even now.

As to #1 problem, I went to Google, and typed something like "LibreOffice
Writer: Page number in footer not shown".

The solution was: View --> Field Names

and the page number and date appeared.

But I could not find how to solve the #2 problem.

I would like any help.

My Computer: Toshiba Laptop
Model: Satellite L55-B
Part #: TSK4U-07T00G
Hard Drive: 1 TB
Monitor: 15.6"
RAM: 8 GB
OS: Windows 8.1
LibreOffice: 4.4.0.3

[libreoffice-users] Windows 64 bit builds born. Really and long last!

2015-02-18 Thread Carlo Strata

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday evening I take a look to LibreOffice 4.5.x initial release
note page:

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/4.5

And scrolling down the page I see, among the likely concrete 4.5
targets, the Windows 64 build!!! :-) ;-)

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/msvc-x86_64
http://ostrovsky.org/libo/LibreOfficeDev_4.5.0.0.alpha0_Win_x64.2015-02-18.msi

I think no more main releases could be skipped again. No more!

I ask myself if this is a "Collabora" contribution like the Android
viewer that is a 4.5.x based build too:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.collabora.libreoffice
https://libreoffice-from-collabora.com/
or something else...

In any case, I am very happy for all of us! I will test my bugs in that
build too and report the results in the bug tracker.

Have a nice evening,

Carlo

Why did you do that ?
Why not just alter the existing Keyfield (RecordID) to autoincrement ?
I tried several times and the Auto Increment just reverted to 'NO' every
time I saved it.

When you talk about the Keyfield, do you mean that this was a PRIMARY
KEY or was it a reference for other tables (FOREIGN KEY)?

Yes I mean the Primary Key - I have no Foreign Keys

Did you attribute PRIMARY KEY status to the new field that you created?
Did you recreate any references (FOREIGN KEYS) to other tables ?

I deleted the old Primary key and marked the new field as Primary

If you didn't, then by deleting your original RecordID field, you
probably deleted the primary key and/or any references as well, and in
all likelihood that is the reason why the forms that relied on that key
to be set no longer work.

In which case should I rather export my data out and start again?? My
feeling is this might be the best and quickest way to go.

Thanks for the help.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Split "Move/Copy Sheet" item in sheet tab menu

2015-02-18 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
Sorry this is sooo late!! When stuff goes wrong like that remember that if
you haven't saved yet you can always undo or just "not save" to get back to
where you were. If necessary you can always "Save As" and add a version
number and then recover the appropriate sheet from an older version! Easy
to forget all that when something goes this wrong tho!

Also if you have not yet closed the document then you might be able to undo
(i've got a feeling it wont undo tab changes).

Plus if you have any old version of your file, such as on a usb-stick,
emailed to yourself or anyone, on a cd/dvd or Cloud like GDrive or anywhere
then you might be able to get most of that old sheet back.

You can "Protect" sheets and things sometimes but that might be more
troublesome than it's worth

Good luck hunting for an old copy of the lost sheet/tab!

Regards from
Tom :)

Are your sure?

When I try do move/copy a sheet to another document that already
contains a sheet with the same name, I do get a warning and the OK
button is inactive. So it´s impossible to overwrite the target.

But, all this has nothing to do with splitting the "Move/Copy Sheet"
command.

Cannot lookup your bug, because the bug tracker is down at the moment.

I have not seen it as a problem, either. Every Calc user (and every
Excel user) is used to it since decades. ;-)

And I do not support changes, that do not result in a *major*
improvement. Any change requires much effort, not only changing the
code and doing QA, but also localisation, changing documentation,
books, and so on.

Let´s fix bugs instead! :-)

The change might be ok, but in which way does that solve your
problem? The target is overwritten in any case. Well yes, if you
think you still are keeping the source and overwrite the target once
more, then there is a difference. I have not seen it being a problem,

Why did you do that ?
Why not just alter the existing Keyfield (RecordID) to autoincrement ?

When you talk about the Keyfield, do you mean that this was a PRIMARY

If you didn't, then by deleting your original RecordID field, you
probably deleted the primary key and/or any references as well, and in
all likelihood that is the reason why the forms that relied on that key

This is all a guess though without knowing exactly how your original
RecordID field was defined and whether or not it had any relationships
to other tables.
