Re: [libreoffice-users] File download stalls when connected to my ISP, succeeds when using a Verizon Wireless MIFI?

2015-09-04 Thread Florian Reisinger
When the provided link works for you then it could be, that one of
LibreOffice's mirrors is defect. (You won't get the file from Germany by
default, but from US). Trying the link given to you in the mail before, you get
the file from Germany.

It would be great to get the URL from which the download does not work. Thanks
:)

Hi,

what browser are you using? It might be worth trying a different browser
eg IE, Firefox or Chrome.

try to download it from this "FTP like" listing with your browser.

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

If it works, then it may be in your service.

If it does or does not, then either way I would contact your service
provider and ask their support people why you are not able to download
from the different download access points properly.

Look into the different ways you can down the file[s].

Are you using IE, Firefox, or Chrome?
I use Time Warner Cable for my access, in central New York State, and
have no issues with the different download paths. EXE or MSI file
extensions work the same.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Font menu display not working correctly

2015-09-04 Thread Tim---Kracked_P_P---webmaster

it displayed correctly with 4.4.x when I went to Windows 10

Then I updated/upgraded to 5.0.0 then 5.0.1. It did not work

Went back to 4.4.5. Did not work as well.

When I removed the LO5 config folders that the uninstall procedure
[Win10 Programs and Feature menu option], more of the fonts came back to
be viewed correctly in the Font Menu, but no all of them came back.

Of course, For one version of Win10 [Home], I cannot get Firefox to open
a new tab without that tab being used by opening Bing. Plus many of
their default APPs do not work properly, like their new browser or their
movie player.

SO, it could be a Win10 issue or a combination of Win10 and LO5.

If I can uninstall LO 4.x.x and 5.x.x and all ll of the registry values,
maybe I can get a new install of LO to work better on Win10 [Pro and Home].

For now, 4.4.5 shows the MOST in the actual look/feel of the fonts in
the font menu, than that of 5.0.0 or 5.0.1.

Maybe if I uninstall the non-Windows 10 installed fonts, then reinstall
them, it might work better. May try it later.

So it sounds like you are saying the problem didn't exist in the 4.4.5 = in
which case it might be good to post a bug-report about it so the devs know
there might be an issue. If Win10 IS displaying the fonts correctly in the
list but only for the "Still" branch then it's gotta be something screwy
with the 5.0.x of LO.

I'm trying out a Chromebook right now so i can't even test it on Linux :(
Also for the 5.0.x branch it's wy too early for me to install on a
main machine.

I have not installed 5.0.x yet on my Linux systems, so I do not know.

Hopefully Win10 will fix the issue[s], if it is the actual problem.

Subject: [libreoffice-users] Font menu display not working correctly
To: LibreO - Users Global

I am running 5.0.0.1 on a Windows 10 Pro [64-bit] laptop.

When I page down through the different fonts [in the tool-bar option] many
of the fonts do not show what they look like, including some MS installed
ones.

This was not a problem with 4.4.4, after I upgraded to Win10.

The kicker is sometimes one part of the font list is not displaying
correctly, while the next time I use LO it does. Other parts/fonts seem
not
to display their "style" every time I open LO and look for a font to use.
Once all the fonts did not display anything other than their names.

So, has anyone seen this issue with 5.0.0.1 on Windows [10] ?

I have not have 5.0.0.1 it on any of my various Linux systems [every
system
a different version of Linux], yet, so I do not know if it does this on
Linux [64-bit]

Someone reported a similar problem with LibreOffice 4.4 a few months ago:
  http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/msg44387.html

It seemed to be something odd about the particular sheet. Experimenting
a bit, it was possible to sort on a different column, undo, and then
sort on the required column without a crash. Perhaps a similar
workaround might work for you. Saving after doing that might even fix
whatever funny in the document was triggering it (it may be handy to
keep a copy of the problematic version around though, in case it's
useful for investigating the issue; if there's nothing confidential it
could be attached to a bug report.

I suggested filing a bug report, with the problematic document attached
so it could be investigated, but don't know if that was ever done.

Re: [libreoffice-users] anchoring frame to character - problems positioning

2015-09-04 Thread libreoffice-ml . mbourne

Mike Scott wrote:

I've been banging my head against this one off and on for quite a while,
and either I'm totally misunderstanding what's supposed to happen, or
there's a problem in LO. I'd appreciate advice please.

The goal is to print music lyrics with chord (text) appropriately
aligned above the lyrics. The ultimate goal is to create the .odt
document programmatically: I'm most of the way there, but the way
positioning works in conjunction with 'anchor to character' has me baffled.

I'm using a frame to hold the chord text, and trying to attach the frame
to a given character below in the lyric line, using 'anchor to
character'. Horizontal position is no bother at all - with the text
centred in the frame, and the frame centred on the lyrics character,
things look good.

However, vertical positioning is another matter. It's not at all clear
what 'bottom', 'top', 'from bottom' (etc) are supposed to do (the help
file is lamentably lacking here). I had supposed that "from bottom"
might allow the distance from the bottom of the frame to some reference
point on the character to be specified, but as I've experimented I've
found little logical relationship. Indeed the character-to-frame
distance can vary with paragraph line spacing even when apparently
nominally "locked" to the character -- not at all what I expected, nor
what I need! What actually happens appears so ill-determined, it's not
even easy to describe.

So, to cut to the real question: how do I "lock" a frame to float just
above a given character in some text, and keep the same relative
position as that character moves and text line spacing changes?

Or have I missed a better (easier!) way of achieving my goal?

I'm not sure, but it may be that you're trying to put the frame so close
to the text that the wrapping is having an effect - pushing the text out
the way of the frame (while the frame is trying to follow the text!)

Take a look at the Format > Frame > Wrap tab. I think you'll want the
main wrap setting to be "Through", and maybe also set the "Spacing"
values to zero. You may or may not also want to set "In background",
depending whether there is any overlap and how you want that handled.

Hope that helps.
Mark.
