It is a known problem, PDF export exports vector graphics (eps, svg) as
bitmap.

You probably mean
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89623 , not
involving eps but svg in particular.

[libreoffice-users] LibreOffice 5 Hangs on Startup

2015-10-04 Thread Amichai Rotman
Hi All,

I finally was able to convince my Mom to switch to FLOSS, and got her to
use LibreOffice to write her Memoirs book.

I installed LibreOffice 5.0.2.2 on her Ubuntu 14.04.3 laptop, using the PPA.

On my laptop it works just fine, but on her's, with similar configuration -
Every time she opens a document, it hangs for a few seconds (Unity's "faded
window") and then let's her work for a while. Then hangs again to a point
where she has to kill the window (Force Quit).

The only difference between our setups is the fact that her Documents
folder sits in her Dropbox folder and I am using Insync with Google Drive.

She tried to copy the file outside of her Dropbox folder, but it acted the
same. i am guessing it has to do with the fact that the Dropbox client is
still running in the background...

Any other ideas?

Where do I check the crash log for clues?

Thanks!

Amichai.

[libreoffice-users] finding fonts used in libreoffice writer docs

2015-10-04 Thread Philip Jackson
I have pretty well completed a large document (110 pages) in LO writer. I did a
pdf export and checked the fonts embedded. To my surprise I found a couple of
unknown, and unwanted, fonts there.

To keep the file size down as much as possible, I would like to remove those
unwanted fonts. I expect they came as stow-aways on a template I used.

I've searched all the paragraph styles for the presence of these 2 unwanted
fonts without success. There doesn't appear to be an LO tool to locate a font
within the document.

Can anyone tell me a way of rapidly locating where these fonts could be hidden
within the LO.odt file ?

Thanks,
Philip

[libreoffice-users] Italicized font display issue in 5.0.2

2015-10-04 Thread DeJuanNOnley
Since installing LibreOffice 5.0.2.2 I am seeing oddities (kind of look like
backticks under the text) whenever I use italicized fonts (very noticeable
with Times New Roman). It almost looks like a vertical positioning issue.
This occurs in both Writer and Calc and with multiple font sizes (especially
12+ points). I've verified it is definitely LibreOffice. Updated video card
drivers, did cold boots, and even reinstalled 5.0.1 to make sure it had no
problems (it didn't). OS is Windows 10 if that makes a difference. I haven't
noticed this on my Ubuntu system.I can't find anyone else reporting this
issue. It is very noticeable though. Anyone have any ideas?I first installed
it via the torrent download, but tried downloading directly in case there
was something wrong with the torrent.I've attached a screenshot showing what
I'm talking about.

o Open the Find & Replace dialogue.
o In the "Search for" box, enter .+ (dot-plus). This is regular
expression code for one or more consecutive characters.

o Click More Options.
o Tick "Regular expressions".
o Click Format... .
o On the Font tab, select the relevant font. Leave Typeface and Size blank.
o OK.
o Click Find or Find All.

I trust this helps.

[libreoffice-users] Writer autosave

2015-10-04 Thread ianseeks
Hi

How is the autosave supposed to work? I've got my set to save every 4 minutes
so i rarely press "Save". I just had a situation where i have made some
changes, left the machine for an hour or so without saving or closing, cam
back to the machine and closed Writer. It didn't ask me to save but it
crashed as it closed. I reloaded it and selected the file that was open to be
recovered. It recovered the file but an older version of it, should it not
have recovered the contents that were on the screen that should have been
autosaved every 4 minutes during that hour the document was still open?

And.. why does the copy and paste work where you use teh mouse to highlight
and paste it? It works with ctrl-c, ctrl-v ok.

Thank-you Brian for this reply. That procedure was well above my paygrade but
now I've learned something new and that will come in useful in future too.

It worked well for one of the fonts which I have now removed..

But the other unwanted embedded font shows in the pdf file as ArialMT.

Of the Arial family, I only have Arial and Arial Black on my machine.

I searched for them and found nothing. I wrote in ArialMT in the font family
box but the 'find' produces nothing.

Re-exporting the pdf file still claims to have some embedded ArialMT, though.
I guess I'll just live with that.

Thanks again for the help.

Philip

so it would seem. i assumed that it had always saved the file in the past.

I thought that was the save the document as i'm sure that what it used to be.
i don't have "Automatically save the document too" question anywhere on the

it certainly didn't as it was not autosaving the whole document.
