[libreoffice-users] Ubuntu 15.10 will include LO 5.0.2.2
If anyone is interested. . . . Ubuntu 15.10, a.k.a. " Wily Werewolf " is scheduled to come out this week, according to an article. The same article has a picture of a LibreOffice "splash screen", showing that this distro will include LibreOffice 5.0.2.2. I run 14.04LTS and 15.04, so on the 15.04 system, I should be upgrading it in a few weeks. I have not upgraded that system's LO beyond 4.4.5.2, though another system has 5.0.2.2 currently installed. Yes, that's correct. Ubuntu 15.10 and all its flavors (Xubuntu, Kubuntu, and so on) came out yesterday and the Werewolf features LO 5.0.2.2 . Typing this on an Ubuntu 15.10 machine with the nice LO 5.0.2.2 sitting in the system tray. Aurelius Am 23.10.2015 um 12:52 schrieb Tim---Kracked_P_P---webmaster: If anyone is interested. . . . I saw the article today, but had not checked if it came out yet. I use the MATE desktop instead of Ubuntu's Unity desktop, or even the newish Ubuntu GNOME distro. I think there is a Ubuntu MATE distro out somewhere. On 10/23/2015 08:06 AM, Aurelius Octavian wrote: Yes, that's correct. Hi Tim and all: Thank you for this information about LibreOffice. By the way, as I know this is the link to Ubuntu Mate: https://ubuntu-mate.org/wily/ And if you want you can install Ubuntu with Unity but installing Mate desktop from its repositories (At least I did with Ubuntu 15.04 in one of my systems) Regards, Jorge Rodríguez El vie, 23-10-2015 a las 10:03 -0400, Tim---Kracked_P_P---webmaster escribió: > I saw the article today, but had not checked if it came out yet. > > I use the MATE desktop instead of Ubuntu's Unity desktop, or even the > newish Ubuntu GNOME distro. > > I think there is a Ubuntu MATE distro out somewhere. > > > On 10/23/2015 08:06 AM, Aurelius Octavian wrote: > > Yes, that's correct. [libreoffice-users] has anyone been keeping a list of migrations and such?
With the September 2015 Conference announcements, I was wondering if anyone has kept a list of all of these announcements. It would be a nice marketing tool to have a list of all of the Countries, and their agencies, mandating [etc.] the use of ODF. Also have another list with all of the Countries, Agencies, etc., that have announce the switch/migration to LibreOffice. In that September announcement, there was a reference to "The Italian Defense migrating some 150,000 desktops . . ". This type of information would be great to have in such a list. If you have such a list of the number of systems are migrating, it would be interesting to have a estimated total of all of the systems being [or have been] migrated to LibreOffice. If you can tell people/organizations, that 2.36 million [random figure] desktops/laptops have gone from MS Office to LibreOffice since September 2010, then that might make a positive impression. IT IS a hard sell for marketers in the USA to convince people, organizations, agencies, etc., that there is a good alternative to buying/renting MS Office. Having a list of countries, and their agencies, who are moving towards using ODF, instead of MS's file formats, and the numbers of systems that are moving towards using LibreOffice instead of MS Office, would make my life easier. Without "exact" figures written down, most people seem to think that I am promoting some badly created, flash-in-the-pan, software package that is used by geeks and not fit to run their business or organization with. SO has there been a list[s] created for all of these announcement "figures"? Would like to have a link to it, if it is available. Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Ubuntu 15.10 will include LO 5.0.2.2
Yes, it was much easier having MATE in the Ubuntu repositories. I have not tried the Ubuntu Mate distro, since it is easier just to add MATE to my Ubuntu install, and the fact that I do not need to install a different distro every time I want an upgrade - like Linux Mint with MATE makes me do. It takes a bit of time to rebuild the systems after changing/upgrading from one distro version to anouther, with all of the packages to be reinstalled and all of the .config files to update to my needs - i.e. Thunderbird's email settings and such, Firefox's bookmarks and specific saved passwords, Filezilla's site management config files, etc., etc.. I do not even want to think about what I need to do to get one of my printers to work properly on Ubuntu 14.x and newer, since 14.04, it no longer supports the needed drivers that control the color output of graphics. In the past month, I have switched out 2 systems from Linux Mint to Ubuntu 14.04 [or better] and have two more to convert, while doing the much longer process to keep the printers working properly [i.e. install 13.10 first and install the printers, then upgrade to 14.04, and then do the upgrade cycle to 15.04/10 if wanted].
