Re: [libreoffice-users] KD Enlive - it's alive!

2015-11-17 Thread charles meyer
Hi Grx HdV,

Thanks so much for sharing your experience.

I’m very glad to hear you’ve enjoyed good experiences with KD Enlive.

Which Linux distribution are you using which includes KD Enlive?

Which features have you liked most with KD Enlive?

I’m trying to find that KD Enlive built into any of the LIVE Linux
distributions but I haven’t found one yet.

I use (and very much like) the LIVE distributions of Knoppix and
Ubuntu (and its variations Kubuntu, Lubuntu).

Right now I run Windoze 7 on my PCs so I use Linux as a LIVE on a CD I
burned of them.

I’ve downloaded and I’m using Windows Live Movie Maker (free) but
that’s a very basic video editor. I’ve read KD Enlive has many more
features.

I don’t have a budget to buy commercial video editors (e.g. Adobe
Premiere, Final Cut Pro, etc.) and there's huge learnign curves with
them anyway so I’m trying to do as much for free as possible with
user-friendly interfaces.

If there is no LIVE Linux distribution with KD Enlive then one day
I’ll have to see about getting some cheap, re-furbished computer to
install Linux with KD Enlive.

Thank you so very much.

Best,

Charles.

I use it quite regularly. Admittedly not for very complex editing, but
up to now it has never let me down. I find it relatively user friendly
and it offers enough features for our needs. In my experience it is
quite stable too.

Currently there is no way to select a specific theme. Unless you are
fortunate that the theme you like is within the first 9 that come out in
whatever search you do, you are out of luck.

Curiously, searching for "Dandelion Seeds" in the Mozilla Add-Ons, Themes
page immediately returns the theme you are looking for in first place, so I
have no idea which search engine or criteria the LibreOffice dialog is
using...

That is a know Regression and was reported some time ago

Unfortunately none of the devs working on LibreOffice found that this is an
interesting bug to fix...

Maybe someone knows a workaround?

Re: [libreoffice-users] I just downloaded Libre Office last night, and I have a couple of questions.

2015-11-17 Thread Tim---Kracked_P_P---webmaster

Which version of Windows do you have?
I constantly got that "permission" issue with Vista and upgraded to
Win7. Now all my Windows systems run Win10. I have not had any
"permission" issues since upgrading to Win7, except for trying to
install older packages that were made during Win XP days and not updated
for the newer OSs.

As for the "space bar" issue, I get around this by either using two
methods. 1 - make sure the image/object is anchored to the page and not
a character. 2 - define the size of the space by changing the font
size. If you need to move the object a quarter of the space bar with,
make that "space" size the size you need by entering the specific
quarter font size in the font size "toolbox" window, i.e. normal is 12,
then place 3.0 in the font size "box". I usually type in the sizes got
larger than the 96 point. I just tried typing in the 3 point size for
my default font and it works fine. In theory you can type in 3.5 or 6.3.

As for the cost of MS Office, I dumped MS Office back in the 2002/2003
version days. Once OpenOffice read/wrote .doc files, I stopped using MS
for most things. Once LibreOffice came out, I dumped OpenOffice.

I went to open source packages due to their "cost". Since there were a
number of packages I needed that I could not find for Windows, I looked
at Linux. Linux had what I needed. I have been using Ubuntu-based
Linux as my default system[s] since Feb. 2010, but had at least one
Linux system running since 2005 or 2006.

Hi Charles,

I am using Debian GNU/Linux. I am quite sure kdenlive is not part of the
standard Live distribution of Debian, but that does not have to be a
problem. You could use an USB-stick to install Debian on and install
kdenlive after that with a plain "apt-get install kdenlive".

More info on how to do this can be read at
http://live.debian.net/manual/current/html/live-manual.en.html#the-basics

Good luck!

Hi.
Holding the alt key down and using the arrow keys moves things
incrementally. This is common in other software too.
