[libreoffice-users] Libre Office und IE, Webseiten

2016-02-29 Thread Peter Heinicke

Gesendet von Mail für Windows 10
Hallo

So

Danke schon mal

Gruß….Peter H.

Filtering in a spreadsheet arranges that only some rows are displayed
and possibly that only these are included in calculations. Filtering
does not sort material, so you cannot "filter in an order".

If you want the items rearranged in some particular - apparently
fixed - order, why not simply enter or arrange them in that order
manually? You do know how to move rows?

You can adjust the order of sorting by defining your own sort order
at Tools | Options... | LibreOffice Calc | Sort Lists.

You could add an additional column in your data indicating the rank
of each existing item. (This column could be hidden or excluded from
the print range if desired.) So with your example, row 2 in the new
column would have 1, because you want that row to be first, row 3
would have 9, as you want it in ninth place, row 4 would have 13, and
so on. You could then sort your data (if that is indeed what you want
to do) using the new column as the sort key.

An alternative is to decide exactly why you want the material in a
different order. It may well be possible to perform whatever
calculations you need with the material in its original order.

I trust this helps.

Re: [libreoffice-users] line numbering

You need a solution only when you have a problem. Line numbering is
numbering all your lines; what's the problem, please?

o The purpose of line numbering is normally to be able to refer to
specific lines in a document. Any title occupies a line (or perhaps
multiple lines) and may need to be referred to like any other. So you
would surely normally want it to be included in line numbering?

o You talk of "one line space" between the title and the remainder of
the text. Are you using a typewriter?! The way to achieve extra
spacing between items in a word processor document is to apply
spacing before or after paragraphs in the paragraph formatting or
paragraph style formatting. Think of vertical distance rather than
"lines". If you choose instead to insert an empty line - using line
breaks - or (more likely what you have done) to insert an empty
paragraph, you are choosing to insert an extra line and you would
expect it to be numbered.

o If you insist on having empty lines, you can except them from
numbering by removing the tick from Count | Blank lines in the Line
Numbering dialogue.

o If you need some paragraphs - for example, your title - not to be
included in the numbering, you can arrange this by removing the tick
from "Include this paragraph in line numbering" on the Outline &
Numbering tab in Paragraph formatting. You can do this piecemeal in
local paragraph formatting or in paragraph style formatting. The
styles route is always better, of course.

I trust this helps.

Oh - not to mention that it doesn't even accomplish the goal.

What about all of the email prior to adding 'Thunderbird 3' to the mix?
Or your new phone?

As I said, IMAP is the only sane, rational solution.

Re: [libreoffice-users] calc filter?

2016-02-29 Thread Remy Gauthier
Hi,
My understanding is you want to re-display the list in the order you
provided. If you can calculate the odd indices (the even numbered ones
are always equal to the number of elements minus the odd index plus 1
in your list), replace the number in the sequence by that calculation.
Otherwise, you can place the index directly in the formula. To show the
list in the order you specified, you can use the following, in a
location of your choice, one line per row:
=indirect(address(row($b$2)+1-1;column($b$2)))
=indirect(address(row($b$2)+16-1;column($b$2)))
=indirect(address(row($b$2)+8-1;column($b$2)))
=indirect(address(row($b$2)+9-1;column($b$2)))
=indirect(address(row($b$2)+4-1;column($b$2)))
=indirect(address(row($b$
2)+13-1;column($b$2)))
=indirect(address(row($b$2)+5-1;column($b$2)))
=in
direct(address(row($b$2)+12-1;column($b$2)))
=indirect(address(row($b$2)
+2-1;column($b$2)))
=indirect(address(row($b$2)+15-1;column($b$2)))
=indi
rect(address(row($b$2)+7-1;column($b$2)))
=indirect(address(row($b$2)+10
-1;column($b$2)))
=indirect(address(row($b$2)+3-1;column($b$2)))
=indirec
t(address(row($b$2)+14-1;column($b$2)))
=indirect(address(row($b$2)+6
-1;column($b$2)))
=indirect(address(row($b$2)+11-1;column($b$2)))
If your data is displayed on another page, then you can use the page name in
the ADDRESS function.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Rémy Gauthier.

To have synced POP, you'd need all devices to sync with each other.
Given that many are only on part time, that would be a real task. You'd
need a server somewhere to manage it. Perhaps an IMAP server?

Re: [libreoffice-users] Thunderbird potential as the official/default email-client for LO? Re: [board-discuss] BoD decision from 2015-10-05

2016-02-29 Thread Paul D. Mirowsky

Each e-mail address has its own "STATUS" file.
"STATUS" file e-mails are not deletable from the POP mail server unless
specifically commanded to delete them within Thunderbird via a separate
command

or when all "STATUS" files are duplicated based on time stamp.
"STATUS" files are based on changes and store individual e-mails and/or
their marking (New, Deleted, Un-read)
The frequency of generating time stamped "STATUS" files is based on file
size of STATUS file.
"STATUS" file e-mail may only be transmitted with PGP or some form of
encryption.
"STATUS" files are created chronologically, each access adds to the
stack to be sent between Thunderbird 1, 2, 3...N

The checking of "STATUS" file happens within Thunderbird

Thunderbird 1<---> POP mail server <--> Thunderbird 2

Thunderbird 1 receives e-mail < -- POP mail server

Thunderbird 1 creates "STATUS" file based on changes (New, Deleted, Un-read)

Thunderbird 1 sends "STATUS" file via e-mail in PGP encrypted file --->
POP mail server

POP mail server --> Thunderbird 2 receives e-mail including PGP
encrypted "STATUS" file

Thunderbird 2 says "You have received a "STATUS", Processing "STATUS"
file now.

Thunderbird 3 added and receives "STATUS" file e-mail < -- POP mail server

Thunderbird 3says "You have received a "STATUS", Processing "STATUS"
file now.

Thunderbird 3 sends "STATUS" file via e-mail in PGP encrypted file --->
POP mail server

I didn't say it was easy, but it is possible.
Think of it as a very unique and fancy Message filter.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Easy rotate in draw.

2016-02-29 Thread Steve Edmonds

Hi.
That would be ok if the object started at a cardinal point.
When you group some objects the angle of the group seems to become the
angle of the last object in the group.
Rotating a group with cursor is painfully slow for larger groups as it
calculates the new rotation every step of the way. For now I will just
have to do the calculation for the new angle.

I just realised what I did. I'm thinking Title-centric, (like in W**d),
whereas LibreOffice is object-centric.

So instead of selecting the title or heading of the image or table and trying
to add a Caption to that, I needed to select the image or table *itself*.

It takes a bit of getting used to for someone who used the main competing
product at work for the best part of 35 years.

No, it isn't... assuming that by 'SyncPOP' you mean the broken POP

If that isn't what you mean, then you'll have to elaborate.

No clue what 'realign' means here. Do you mean 'sync'? If so, then that
is precisely what IMAP provides.

If you don't want to rely on some third party to host your mail, then
run your own IMAP server.

This sounds like a broken way to refer to a groupware server.

I would love for SOGo to adding some real Groupware capabilities, like
file sharing, collaboration, etc.

But again, Thunderbird is a CLIENT. You are talking about SERVER
features, and NO, Thunderbird will NEVER become a full blown mail
SERVER. Why reinvent the wheel? We already have dovecot (and a few
others, Cyrus is good, Courier is old and on the way out, no clue about
UW-IMAP)...

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Easy rotate in draw.

Thanks.
Unfortunately the rotation is not from relative position. First down
cursor rotates the object and sets the angle at 0.00 and subsequent
cursor steps are at 45 degrees.
If the object angle is 23.45 then this will not rotate it 90 degrees to
113.45

Turn TB into a mail *server*? Ain't gonna happen, no reason to.

And - no offense, but - anyone suggesting this hasn't a clue what it
takes to make a real mail server *or* client.

An alternative solution you might find useful is simply clicking twice on

holding Shift will lock the rotation to 15° increments. This will be
relative to the object initial orientation.

So, if you have something at 5.4° and use this method, you can rotate it to
20.4°, 35.4°, 50.4°, etc.

Then you're using the wrong protocol. If you are using POP, you will

The unique possibility to SyncPOP instead of IMAP is an interesting

If LibreOffice where to take control of Thunderbird, would it be able to

Actually, depending on the jurisdiction, I'd call B$ on that.

There is NO law that requires one to ACCEPT all mail.

First and foremost you reject mail for invalid recipients. Then there
are a lot of spam cases that can safely and legally be rejected at SMTP
time.

But, sure, if you ACCEPT the mail, then if you fall under certain laws,
you may have to archive it for a given amount of time.

But, again, in what world does anyone receive (ACCEPT) 2+GB of mail PER
HOUR?

Sorry, but that is just silly.

The problem with this is that Insert > Caption is greyed out.

Unfortunately, the Help says to use Insert > Caption.

However, your guidance gave me a clue as to how to get around the problem. I
was looking for an Option which might have disabled the Insert > Caption menu
item and I found an entry called LibreOffice Writer > AutoCaption. I enabled
LibreOffice Writer Table, LibreOffice Writer Image and LibreOffice Drawing and
found that, if I inserted a Table or Image, I was able to generate a heading
that was collected by the Table of Tables or Table of Illustrations.

However, Insert > Caption is still greyed out, but at least there is a Work

Unfortunately, I can't do it myself because I lack the time to do so, but
if someone's up to the task, it could be interesting to have an "extractor"
for secured files.

From my understanding of the specification, password-protected files are
"just" like regular files, meaning that they still are ZIP containing
multiple files. The password-protection is not at the ZIP level, but
instead relevant files are encrypted before they are stored in the ZIP
file. To remain efficient, these files are compressed using deflate (the
same algorithm used in zip files) *before* encryption, and then simply
stored in the ZIP file.

An extracting tool could extract the content of the ODT/ZIP file, and using
the password decrypt the relevant files. This would make the file
"components" available for further examination. Since sometimes file
corruption can merely mean a malformed closing tag in the XML that makes up
the core of a document, it could be helpful.

This could also make for a useful side-tool for LibreOffice, since these
corruptions, as rare as they are, still happens sometimes even on
unencrypted files.

Easy: you need to define an intermediate cell range for your
drop-down list. Enter =B1 and =B16 in two neighbouring cells in some
convenient place and then use the range of those two cells for Source
in the Validity panel instead of the original cells. Using references
like this instead of copying the original values has the advantage
that any changes you later make to the values in B1 or B16 are
automatically reflected in the intermediate range.

I trust this helps.
