Could you post other fonts here? Classical Garamond seems to be a font
where I have to pay for. I won't test this with a font I have to pay
for, because I don't need more fonts as the system (OpenSuSE)
installes by itself.

I have tried this one:
Opened a new document.
Written down
Header 1
Header 2a
Header 2b

And set the default styles to this (Header 1, Header 2 - could be it
is alled by another name, but have tried this in German).
Changed all to "Numbering" (F12)
and got this:

1 Header 1
1.1 Header 2a
1.2 Header 2b

You could change all this with Tools > Chapternumbering don't know the

Same here:

This is the normal behavior of LO-Writer:

1 Header 1
1.1 Header 2a
1.2 Header 2b
2 Header 2
2.1 Header 2a
2.2 Header 2b

You could change this at Tools > Chapternumbering.

Seems you will work like most users of Windows: administrator for all.
There are no files in config-folder of your home-directory which
couldn't be changed by yourself as normal user and owner of all these
files.

By the way: Andre has changed the name of the folder. It has been
created again and didn't solve his problem with fonts.

[libreoffice-users] Interplay between outline and paragraph numbering

2017-02-26 Thread martin f krafft
Hello,

I am working on a complex document with plenty of sections and
auto-numbered paragraphs. They're using a custom paragraph style
with a custom numbering style for that. Don't ask me why…

I now have two challenges:

  a. I'd like to include the outline numbering in the paragraph
 numbers, i.e. instead of

  3. Some Chapter

  1. First
  2. Second

 I want/need:

   3. Some Chapter

   3.1. First
   3.2. Second

Can Libreoffice automate this for me?

  b. At every outline-relevant heading, the numbering should be
reset. Right now it does not, but instead I get this:

  […]
   1. First
   2. Second

   C. A new chapter

   3. First
   4. Second

until I right-click the "3." and select "restart numbering"
from the context-menu, which I found to be rather brittle

Can I somehow restart paragraph numbers at every section
  start?

Thanks for any insights!

Could be yor problem is: I can't find ~/.config on my system.

Close LO. Use your filemanager, for example Dolphin in KDE. Set View >

libreoffice. You could rename "4" to "4_old". Could be you installed a
special Suse-version. So you have to rename "4-suse" to "4-suse_old".

The new config-directory will be created when starting LO new.

I won't delete the old directory because I don't know if you have
saved something like user-defined dictionary inside it.

Indeed but unless you know that there are such difficulties in the
path, you shouldn't generally use the -f option. It's much safer to try
without it and then repeat the command once you've established exactly
what a particular problem is. Otherwise it's far too easy to mistype
the path and/or not be in the working directory you think you are and
so remove files that are write-protected specifically to reduce the
likelihood of such accidents.

It's up to you what procedures you follow on your own systems, of
course, but it's best to recommend safer procedures to the great
unwashed that may read this list.

Cheers, Dave
