[libreoffice-users] failed update attempts

2024-02-25 Thread Graeme Eldridge

Hello,

I am running your version 7.6.0.3 quite successfully but thinking I
really should update to 7.6.4 or better just as a matter of best
practice.  That fails because the installer cannot remove version
7.4.7!  This is logical only in the sense that version 7.4.7 isn't there
and has never been there.  Trying to simply uninstall 7.6.03 fails
exactly the same way as does hiding the Libre Office folder and
attempting a "clean" install.

How do I fix this without buying a new machine (64 bit Windows 10)?

Thank you,

Graeme

PS.  Trying to install version 26.2 fails similarly

Why don't you do the obvious and remove all previous versions prior to
installing the required update?

Are you trying to run the update from the program windows, or are
you downloading the new version and installing it directly.

Just update my mom's Windows 7 machine with no real problem.
Downloaded
 361730048 Feb 20 23:04 LibreOffice_7.6.5.2_Win_x86-64.msi
   2736128 Feb 20 23:04
LibreOffice_7.6.5.2_Win_x86-64_helppack_en-US.msi

The helppack installed with no issue replace.
Did have a message about not being able to remove desktop
short-cut, but it eventually did.

Her other machine is a new mini PC with N100 CPU with windows
11 that I got for about $200, and it has latest suite on installed.

I've had issues the the updates either just saying it already has
latest version, when ther was a newer one?

With Linux, I've never had any issues with updates..

Might try ccleaner to uninstall it if that does work under tools
option. Good Luck.
