[libreoffice-users] Help Block Automatic Changes in Chart Axis Scales

2017-11-02 Thread Jonathan Levi
I have numerous charts in my spreadsheets in which the x-axis scale type needs
to be Date. However, if I change the chart's range, the type automatically
changes to Text. How can I prevent LO from doing this?

TIA, Jonathan

[libreoffice-users] Directory for Python Macros?

2016-07-11 Thread Jonathan Levi
I’ve started learning to create Python macros for LibreOffice, but I need
advice on where to put them. if I put them in
/Applications/LibreOffice.app/Contents/Resources/Scripts/python (I'm using Mac
OS X El Capitan, version 10.11.5, LibreOffice version 5.1.3.2, containing
Python 3.5.0) they show up in the LibreOffice Macros section in the Python
Macros dialogue. This works, but I would rather not insert them into the
LibreOffice.app directory tree. Does anyone know what folder corresponds to the
My Macros section in the Python Macros dialogue instead?

[libreoffice-users] Custom Bitmap for Chart Wall?

2013-02-09 Thread Jonathan Levi
I'd like to fill the wall of my chart with a custom bitmap of my own creation.
But when I double-click my chart, then click menu Format Chart Wall...
Area tab Bitmap popup item Blank pattern, I can't edit this pattern,
even though LibreOffice Help entry bitmaps;patterns seems to suggest that I
should be able to. Any suggestions?

Re: [libreoffice-users] Custom Bitmap for Chart Wall?

2013-02-09 Thread Jonathan Levi

Brian and Regina,
Thank you both for your responses. Both methods worked (Regina's had the
advantage of not needing a new document) but both also produced an unexpected
(and undesired) blurring of the boundary between two colors:

Any further suggestions how to produce a sharp boundary? Thanks again in any
event,
Jonathan

o Open a (new) drawing (Draw) document.
o Go to Format | Area... | Bitmaps.
o Here you can import an existing bitmap from a file or create and
name a new one.

Your new bitmap will now be available in Calc, but you may have to
close and reopen your spreadsheet document before it appears.

I trust this helps.

Try this:
1. In chart editing mode draw a rectangle into the chart. If the drawing
toolbar is not visible, you can activate it via View - Toolbars.
2. From the context menu of the rectangle choose the item 'area'.
3. On the dialog page 'Bitmaps' click on 'import' and select the picture
of your choice or use the pattern editor to make some simple dot-bitmap.
4. If you want this bitmap for further documents, you have to save the
bitmap list.
5. Close the dialog.
6. Delete the rectangle.
Now you should have your own bitmap in the bitmap list.

Kind regards
Regina

[libreoffice-users] Macro Problem: Extending a Chart's X-axis

2012-11-11 Thread Jonathan Levi

I don't know if this is the right list to query, but I'm having trouble writing
a simple Basic macro to extend a chart's X-axis. The bottom of the chart starts
off looking like this:

---
1 2 3 4

My macro is:

Sub Main
Dim Doc As Object
Dim Charts As Object
Dim Chart as Object
Doc = ThisComponent
Charts = Doc.Sheets(0).Charts
Chart = Charts.getByIndex(0).EmbeddedObject
Chart.Diagram.XAxis.Max = Chart.Diagram.XAxis.Max + 4
End Sub

and in the end, I want the bottom of the chart to be:

-
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

Instead, I get

---
1234

I'm sure the problem has something to do with the fact that the Format Data
Ranges... menu item's content remains unchanged, i.e., stays

$Sheet1.$A$1:$A$5

instead of changing to

$Sheet1.$A$1:$A$9

which gives the chart the appearance I want. Any ideas re modules, services,
methods to get/set the chart's data range? TIA,

Jonathan

[libreoffice-users] Restore Separate Navigator Window?

2012-07-22 Thread Jonathan Levi
My document's Navigator has somehow gone from being its own window to a pane in
the main document. I need the first behavior, because I'm writing a script
based on a separate Navigator window. Can anyone tell me how to restore it?
Using LibreOffice 3.4.1, MacOS X 10.4.11.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Restore Separate Navigator Window?

2012-07-22 Thread Jonathan Levi

Tom: your grab-and-drag solution worked. Brian: So did your
control-doubleclick toggle, except for MacOS X I had to use command
(Apple-key)-doubleclick instead. Thanks to you both,

Jonathan

Hi :)
Can't you just grab it and drag it loose?

I think this depends a bit on your operating system, and I don't have MacOS
here
to try. But try either of these techniques:

o Hold down the Ctrl key and double-click on an empty grey area of the window.
That's not on the title bar or on a button, but somewhere on the grey area
around the buttons and around the main panel - between the buttons or around
the
edge.

o With focus on the Navigator window, press Ctrl+Shift+F10.

Both these techniques should toggle the window between floating and docked.

I trust this helps.
