Re: [libreoffice-users] Macintosh Custom Keyboard Shortcuts

2012-06-01 Thread Mark Simon
Flogging a dead horse, perhaps, but I would like to see some sort of
resolution to this.

LibreOffice writer allows you to create custom keyboard shortcuts. It
appears that the Macintosh is somewhat possessive about system
shortcuts, and so the Macintosh version does not behave as expected.

A large number of available keyboard shortcuts use the control key (^)
-- as opposed to the command key. I assume that control key short cuts
on Macintosh correspond to Windows alt-key short cuts, while command key
short cuts on Macintosh correspond to Windows control-key shortcuts.

On the Macintosh, control-key shortcuts do not work at all. If you
assign a control-key shortcut to any operation (I am trying to assign
them to styles, but I have tried other operations), it will either be
ignored (such as control-H) or by hijacked by the Macintosh system
operation (such as control-h).

Now, somebody has gone through the effort of putting the control-key
symbols in the corresponding list, so I assume that it's supposed to work.

Is there anybody with a Macintosh who can throw some light on this?
Surely one of the developers of the Mac version? The only clue I can
offer is that I have downloaded the NeoOffice product and failed there
as well, so it may be a bug inherited from further back.

Thanks,

Mark

However I cannot work out how to get those ... keyboard shortcuts
going. On my Windows version, I used the alt key, particularly for my
custom styles. The Mac version seems to use the control key, which is
OK, but then completely ignores my assigned shortcut, which is not OK.

I have lodged a but, but nobody seems to have noticed.

Or have I missed something incredibly obvious ...?

FYI, 1 inch is exactly 2.54 cm. The inch was redefined in 1959 as
derived from the metric system.

Just being pedantic :]

just a notice : 113,4 pt = 2 cm. (There are 72 pts in an inch and an
inch is ca. 2,54 cm).

My guess is that it does apply to hand tools, as the difference is
trivial. When you multiply inches by enough (63360 in one mile), then
the difference is probably enough to be a problem, and so US surveying
has a problem. I don’t know how they handled that in England.

Pedantic? I?

Oh, I didn't know that!
Does that apply to machine hand tools also?

Yes, he pedantic about them too. ;-)

Actually, that definition of the inch applies to everything but U.S.
surveying and that exception only because so many of the surveys were
done prior to 1959.
