Thank you. Once again you read the lengthy question carefully and reply
precisely on point; that is a gift.
I found your pointer to the people.freedesktop.org documentation on the
registry, and much other good background. It is somewhat reassuring that these
definitions are also regarded as a kind of template, even if not managed under
the Templates manager.

I had noticed registrymodifications.xcu when I made labels changes, but then
discounted it, because it is rewritten every time LO closes. OTOH,
pack\registrymodifications.pack always changes with labels definition changes,
but not every time LO is used, so I thought registrymodifications.pack must be
where the labels definitions are stored. Documentation on that relationship
seems less available.

This will obviously require study, and now I can see a couple more intermediate
steps needed to get to my goal of a labels forms library. So must become yet
another addition to my to-do list if I am to get anything else done today.
Still, you have once again supplied the framework for that study, so I am once
again in your debt.

Kind regards,
John

Betreff: [libreoffice-users] Looking for current LibreOffice Writer tutorials

Hi! I'm helping an elderly woman start using LibreOffice Writer on a new
laptop she purchased. The laptop has Windows 11 and she's not interested in
paying for MS Office. She barely knows how to use a word processor, so I'm
interested in finding some recent/current tutorials to help her learn the
basics. She's running version 7.5.2.2. I found a basic introductory video on
YouTube, but it was posted back in 2018. I found another tutorial, an
"ultimate" tutorial, but it seemed focused on a task she wouldn't be doing so I
think it would overwhelm her.

Does anyone know of any good, recent/current tutorials a complete newbie could
use?

Thanks in advance!

Peace...

Tom

[libreoffice-users] Question RTF Contentcontrol in Writer

2023-03-31 Thread susanne.mohn-lo
Hallo ,

I am looking for the Rich Text content control in LibreOffice Writer Version
7.5.1.2. (Windows 11)

I have two questions:

[1] Propertiess of the content control:

Title: it appears above the control.

Tag: How can I use the tag?

[2] It has the property nested and can therefore accommodate objects such as
tables, graphics or other content controls.

If I insert a table or image into an rtf content control, it is replaced and
no longer exists.

Is this intended behaviour?

Greetings

Susanne

[libreoffice-users] Seitenvorlagen

2022-11-24 Thread susanne.mohn-lo
Hallo!,

vielleicht hat jemand aus der Liste Erfahrung damit:
Es geht um die Übernahme von Word Dokumenten nach Writer.

Word kann ja keine Seitenvorlagen, also muss Writer „improvisieren“.

Susanne

AW: [libreoffice-users] Position references

2022-10-25 Thread susanne.mohn-lo
Hi Harald and @List

There is a post about pictures here:
En:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Videos/Insert_and_edit_images_in_Writer_Part_1
De:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Videos/Insert_and_edit_images_in_Writer_Part_1/de

I would delve into anchor types and positioning in one post. But this is also
mentioned in the post.

Best regards
Susanne

Hi Susanne and Regina,

in this post there is already a sketch by Mike Kaganski (is not so old yet):
https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/writer-relationship-between-page-margins-and-other-typographic-elements/47015/4?u=hrbrgr

Would that be usable?

Hello Susanne and Regina,

if you like I can put it in the wiki (incl. rework).

Susanne I would then send you a document template for the wiki text that I
always use.

I have not read the topic very intensively now, but it is very interesting in
any case.

Kind regards
Harald

AW: [libreoffice-users] State of docx support.

Hi Steve,

normally docx opened in a few seconds in LO.

Try LO7.4. - there the support for DOCX is much better than in LO 7.3

Can you share the docx?

Hi.
I have received a 2 page document (.docx) that takes about a minute to open in
LO 7.3.6 and has some of the items somewhat misplaced (problems with anchoring).
It opens and prints fine in an online viewer which also produces a PDF which
thankfully I can edit in Draw. Is this still quite common opening docx in
Writer?
