Re: [libreoffice-users] Draw object selection problem

I reflexively used "Reply" instead of "Reply All" and didn't realize it until I already sent the reply. The new list configuration is aggravating. Given how many private replies I am getting since the change, I am not alone in the group. As you hint at, the real problem is deciding if the private reply was really a private reply or just a miss-click like I did with this one. It is an etiquette problem... Girvin R. Apart from using a "tab" they are totally different. I will try that as soon as I can get back to it. No matter which layer I select, the same objects are displayed in the drawing window. I see I can make layers invisible, but that is about it. Is there a way to tell which layer an object is on, other than trying to select it layer by layer? Please have a look at chapter 8 "Splitting drawings in multiple layers" in the Draw guide [1], and therein the section "Changing the layer of a drawing object". I read that section of Chapter 8 last night, just to see if the guide did explain layers. There are two pages referring to layers and that is mostly taken up by figures. I will have to work with Draw to get the feel of how to apply this new layer technique. I know the guide is not verbose, so don't hesitate to ask again, but please on the list, so that all others can learn from the answers too. Done! I tried to select an area, but as soon as I make the first click at the first corner, it selects the underlying picture. I tried protecting the underlying picture using the procedure in help. That keeps the picture from being modified, but it still gets selected. I "Sent it to Back", but that does not work either. Is there a way to keep a draw object from being selected or to select overlying objects only? Draw has the very nice feature of layers. You get easy access to it with right click on the tabs at the bottom of the edit window. Insert a layer, move the picture to the new layer and lock the new layer. Go back to the layer "layout" and make your drawings.
