Hello Gregory, I teach LibreOffice class with many students and now they use Impress 7.4 too. All succeeded doing presentations with 20-50 slides without any crash. However, they all use GNU/Linux. So I can confirm at least Impress 7.4 works normally on GNU/Linux. Firstly, could you send your presentation file here? It might help others to examine and reproduce the issues. Secondly, as a suggestion, you might consider to try several different versions of LibreOffice on Windows 10 and see which one works normally for you and use the working one (I always do this). Experience told me the latest version is not always the best.
