I think SVG handling is very new so there is a good chance it might have 
improved in the latest releases.  WHich release are you having troubles with at 
the moment?

Are forms images?

Anyway confirmed the same behaviour; suggest you submit a bug
notification. Perhaps better to do all svg image creation in your svg
editor (inkscape?) and export to LO as png format image.
