Re: [libreoffice-users] Impress on mac g4 - graphics filter not found

2012-05-06 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
Can you try LibreOffice 3.4.6 on both reasonably easily?

Also which formats are you using?  The odp format is best especially if you
have LibreOffice on both machines.  Are you suing ppt, ie the MS Office
Powerpoint format?
Regards from
Tom :)

I am trying to put together a picture presentation using Impress. Using a mac
mini running Lion I am having no problem. As the presentation will be given
elsewhere I want to use a G4 laptop running osx 10.4.11. Transfering the file
fails to work as it fails to include all of the pictures. Any attempt to
rebuild on the G4 fails as it says Graphics filter not found on most of the
pictures, all jpeg. I can use some other pictures, as a test, but there seems
to be no consistency.
I am using LibreOffice 3.5.3.2 on the G4 and LibreOffice 3.5.0rc3 on the mac
mini.

If anyone can help I will be grateful, the presentation is for Monday evening.

Hi Tom

I only have 3.5.3 available on both and I'm saving as .odp. I've got round it
by converting all the pic to .png format. It seems that the 10.4 setup can't
take jpegs although the 10.7 version can. I do remember having to download
something a while age to allow jpegs to be used somewhere but can't remember
what software it was used for. Was it for LibreOffice? If so there was nothing
about it on the website that I could find.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Impress on mac g4 - graphics filter not found

2012-05-06 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
I usually find png is a better format for editing but jpg is lighter-weight
which is only really a factor if you are emailing them or putting them up on a
web-site.  For  a slide-show it's probably better to keep them as pngs anyway.

I don't know about Macs but in GnuLinux (such as Ubuntu) then addign one type
of functionality in 1 programs adds it to all other relevant programs too.  So
if you have Gimp or some other photo-viewer on your machine and can get that to
handle jpgs then LO will be able to handle jps too.  However, i think it's best
to stick with pngs.

Tom :)
