What distribution are you using? QuickStarter was at the origin of a rather nasty bug that prevented shutting down/logging out as reported in this Ubuntu bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/562027 It's resolved now, but unless you're using LibO 3.5.0 or greater, you won't have the fix. I can't say if that's the same for other non-Debian derivatives, though. What are your reasons for using QuickStarter in GNU/Linux? If it's only for faster startup speed, remember memory is treated different than Windows. Even in the slowest environments, once LibreOffice has loaded once (any component: Writer, Calc, etc), the next times the startup time improves a lot. You can use a workaround in Ubuntu to accomplish this for first-time run and get that oh, it loads fast *perception*, specially if you turn off the system often (which negates the benefits of memory caching during a single session). I may be oversimplifying a bit here, hoping the point comes across. See this workaround, should work in other Debian derivatives too: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/562027/comments/120 Other simple optimizations include using RAM as storage, mounting /tmp in RAM, using SSD storage, etc. - with varying levels of care required :) Don't do this unless you're running LibO 3.5.1 or greater or you may hit this one too with worse results (data loss): https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/817326 Cheers, Fabian Rodriguez http://libreoffice.magicfab.ca -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) Comment: PGP/Mime available upon request Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk+7wuQACgkQfUcTXFrypNUkkgCgsaw4uyLr5ehEupqxviHjBThG nioAni+S3SX05O41EXVAJB7pLFWEhFR0 =tjZj -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Re: [libreoffice-users] No QuickStarter? (Linux)
Hi :) Is this in Windows? The quick-starter is one of the options during install. I think you can try reinstalling but choose the Repair option instead of the full re-install. I went for the full reinstall as i was able to upgrade at the same time. After repairing or reinstalling LO and adding in the quickstarter option you probably still have to select it through Tools - Options - Memory or Tools - Options - General Regards from Tom :) --- On Sun, 20/5/12, minhsien0330 minhsien0...@gmail.com wrote: From: minhsien0330 minhsien0...@gmail.com Subject: Re: [libreoffice-users] No QuickStarter?
