In fact it's not call Properties, it opens on Properties by default but
you have icons on the top right side of the bar where you can switch to
Styles, Gallery or Navigator. In the next versions, the Sidebar will be
visible by default on Writer, for the moment it's true only for Impress.
Kind regards

I would tend to agree with Mark. If it's called "Properties", why is
it called "Sidebar" in the View menu? I think it should be called
"Properties" in the menu too.

Thanks both.
Yes, I found it as "sidebar". In hindsight not difficult to identify,
but rather different from the way they're normally named, so it didn't
strike me at first.

What's the thinking behind that then?

Mark

You can remove it by View > Sidebar. It's new side bar that is enable by
default only under Impress for the moment.

Hi :)
I guess you have already tried

View - Toolbars

to see if unticking any there was able to get rid of it?
I tend to dock such things at the top or bottom, preferably at the end of
an existing toolbar so that they don't take up much space
Regards from
Tom :)

[libreoffice-users] "Properties" Toolbar?

2014-09-25 Thread Mark Stanton
What is this thing and why can't I get rid of it?

In Writer, 4.2.6.3 I now seem to have a properties toolbar. It insists
on docking on the right hand side of my LO window and won't go away. I
can undock it, but subseqiently closing it just makes it appear back
in the LO main window.

What is it? Where does it come from? Where can I turn it off? I don't
want it.
