Re: [libreoffice-users] re: Libre Office - 5.3.3
zahra, Yes, I use Slackware Linux exclusively on all of my computers. I was surprised there is a LO 5.2.7.2 released. I was not expecting that, so I have not been keeping up. I will download it as soon as I can. Thanks for mentioning it. I normally use OpenOffice (AOO) for most of my work, since there are some bugs in LibreOffice (LO) since 4.x that I find frustrating. Mainly, that it does not restore my last session properly, where AOO still does. However, AOO no longer bundles the Base Report Generator in their package and LO still does. So I keep LO installed for my quarterly database reports that I generate. Other than that. LO and AOO are interchangeable to me. HTH. You'll get lots of perks and new features and experience basically the same number of bugs (give or take a few dozen). A nasty bug for me might be a "didn't even notice" situation for you. The only way to know is to run the version and see if it has any personal "show-stoppers" I run master for professional daily use and it's fine. --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Libre Office - 5.3.3
Hi Charles. It depends upon what you are doing, as from 3.1 there have been some changes. If you use EPS illustrations, you may need to stay with an older version. If you produce larger documents with more numerous images distributed in PDF (books, manuals) it may pay to stay with the last of the 4 series. If you just do day to day word processing and spread sheets, I would recommend the last of the 5.2 series. The 5.3 series may even be fine. I have not found any of them to be unstable, just bags that affect certain areas of use. Is that just with the Linux version or are others finding issues with the Windows version as well? I've found changes to graphs in Calc don't often stick unless I move the graph a smidgen. They're not lost but just don't display outside edit until the graph is shifted. Possibly fixed in 5.3.3.2?
