1 - because of your fast reply earlier on Friday I got the impression you are in Japan. This would 
have opened another possibility.

3 - This is correct - different to mine, I am using a Japanese keyboard

4 - Language switching never with the language bar excludes this as a source of 
the problem

 7 - Seems to be ok as well

Above means the cause is most likely not in Windows but somewhere in LibO and connected to 
Portuguese and there is a difference to German settings somewhere in the background.


However, you found a setting in the xml code which works. Did save this as a Writer template? If so, 
when you use this template and create a new Writer file, does this file work as you expect it?

did it myself. I only read recently that a problem with foot and endnotes
wass solved by modification of the xml -code of the file. I hope that

Additionally, you could try to "unzip" the odt-file and look into the code behind to see if there is 
something which leads to understanding and solution. However, I am not the expert to explain the 
needed procedure. Have a look in Ask LibO and search a bit. There was recently an explanation on how 
to "unzip" an odt file.

Thank you, but that didn't seem to fix the problem.

I see there's a new LibreOffice version. I believe this issue wasn't
corrected, but I'll update it anyway. I'll let you know if the behavior
changes.

Have you tried resetting the user profile.
Often solves strange problems.

I have reproduced your exact same steps, but with Brazilian Portuguese
instead of German. The document language switches back to English as soon
as I start typing again. Likewise, the default language in

Hi :)
I still have troubles with Japanese fonts.  Someone kindly dug up tons of them 
for me but i lost the email :(  (well, i carefully put it somewhere safe and 
now can't find which safe place i put it in :( )  Hmmm, i must have put them on 
this machine but just not on the main one i meant to.
