Re: [users@httpd] Re: Choosing Windows platfrorm
Thank you Brian. I got my 2 copies of WHA2011 at a $50 closeout. Had to disable much the MS server stuff to use and it has worked well in my application. Just pondering weather to 'go more modern'. Your response was very helpful to mainly confirm my analysis. Not really seeing any big benefit of using Windows 10 Pro. Thought maybe I was missing something, and this would be the group to ask. Customer statisfaction with Microsoft is 0 https://www.reddit.com/r/aargh_Microsoft/ - This is off topic, but I feel I have to contribute to it. It was most certainly meant sarcastically: nobody can really be satisfied with Microsoft (besides they are not actually customers, in the sense that they don't choose to buy Windows: they are forced to live with it). - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@httpd.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@httpd.apache.org

I would say if you ran it on WHS2011 it would probably work fine on the newer versions. unless you have some specific requirement, there probably won't be a difference in whether you use windows server or regular windows. OpenSSL and PHP can all be run on windows as you have done in the past. >From my perspective windows server is mostly useful if your using microsoft specific server components such as IIS and other Microsoft integrations. You don't need to have any of that to run apache software. You will probably have to assess how your windows proprietary application works and make sure thats compatible.
