Well, as Tim & I have saidyou can't mount an Audio CD. As soon as I start "Sound Juicer" it reads the track names and I can either Play it or Extract the tracks. My system is an F15 system with both GNOME and KDE installed. I normally only use KDE. On the computer that the printer is directly plugged into, that computer is configured as the printer server. It does the driving for the printer, and makes itself available to the network. The clients should automatically find the server, without you doing anything, at all, to the CUPS configuration on the client. And it'll make that printer available to any program that wants to print. Theoretically, all you need to do to get it to work is: 1. Set up the server so that it can do its own printing (get the right printer driver, test print through CUPS, test print through any program that prints its output). Then configure its CUPS server to share itself to the LAN. 2. Set up the server's firewall so that it can act as a CUPS *server* (probably called IPP, for internet printing protocol, in your firewall configuration). 3. Set up your client's firewall so they can be a CUPS *client* (again, it may be called IPP). I don't know if, since the last time I set up network printing, there's any options that need setting with SELinux configuration, as well. For what it's worth, audio CDs cannot be mounted, they don't have a file system on them. It's just a stream of encoded data with a table of contents at the start of the disc. What can happen, though, is that your desktop, or file manager, or other utility, can recognise that an inserted disc is an audio CD and give you an interface for accessing the disc as if it were mounted. So, you're not going to find it "mounted" and you may need to look for a compact disc digital audio (CDDA) handler plug-in (depending on whether your software is supposed to work with one, or has the feature built in). -- [tim@localhost ~]$ uname -r 2.6.27.25-78.2.56.fc9.i686 Don't send private replies to my address, the mailbox is ignored. Sounds like JUST the info I was looking for. I'm still a little puzzled as to how/why xinetd would look to LDAP at all if PAM isn't telling it to. From /etc/nsswitch.conf: passwd: files ldap shadow: files ldap group: files ldap Since the answer is found in "files" /etc/passwd (and /etc/group), what makes it call nss_ldap at all? I think it's more likely that, because supplemental group membership is retrieved from all available sources, xinetd is attempting to determine which of the groups you've defined in the directory server the user is a member of. If that is indeed what's happening, then you'll want to look into adjusting the value of the "nss_initgroups_ignoreusers" in nss_ldap's configuration file. [389-users] Crashing
Hello all, Need some help with tuning and crash debugging. We're running Fedora-Directory/1.0.4 B2006.312.1539. The problem is on our "Dedicated Consumer" machine running on RHEL 5. We have over ~150,000 users authenticating against our FDS systems. System resources are not a problem (~.39 load, free memory, 92k swap) For months, the system is solid without any issues then we seem to get a large spike in traffic and FDS crashes. I run Monit so the service is restarted automatically but I cannot figure out why the service keeps crashing. FDS was setup and tuned based off: http://directory.fedoraproject.org/wiki/Performance_Tuning#Linux I have reviewed http://directory.fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAQ#Debugging_Crashes as well, but some of that is over my head. I have turned buffering off and increased the logging level in the LDAP config. Hi, I have been wanting to write a simple system tray plugin using GTK1. Is it possible? Or am I constrained with using the more resource-hungry GTK2? The keyword is simple: I am open to giving up some features, but inability to do anything would of course defeat the purpose. Intel 4965AGN Standard "N" update
Just inquiring as to whether or not if there is going to be an update to the 4965AGN wifi card to utilize the new Standard "N". I have the Overdrive Pro which has the new "N" and my 4965AGN will not connect and I believe it is because the Draft N is not compatible with the new Standard. I stand to be corrected. Just asking someone to look into this problem I am having. I have contacted Sierra Wireless and they have assured me that their device is backward compatible so I am looking further for answer. All GeForce 7300 (GT,GS,LE,SE and PCIe or AGP) cards have "3D hardware acceleration". They should be recognized as such when booting F15. What does 'lspci -d 10de:' say. You are running the Nvidia driver. This requires a 'nomodeset' entry in the kernel line of /boot/grub/grub.conf (if I remember correctly). To switch to the nouveau driver you have to disable the nvidia driver. Have you checked if the 'nomodeset' entry has been removed.
