Tnx. Very flexible, almost perfect.

Still have problem with tabs.
IMHO tabs are for full screen browsing, not my style of work.
Middle button still open window in tabs instead of new window.
Right click, select open new window is annoying.
Anybody know the solution?

OK, this is wierd... The reason that I did a fresh install is because
I was having this same issue when I attempted to upgrade. With
upgrading, of course, Serviio does not need to rescan your entire
collection. So, I had the same issue with the old install, as well as
this fresh one. So, I just checked a few of the "offending" songs
and, for example, Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water is
now 4:35 instead of only about one minute! So, why this corrected
itself AFTER Serviio finished re-scanning my collection, I have no
idea. But all seems well right now. Sorry for the noise.

Serviio Media Server: Songs play for only about one minute

2014-05-17 Thread Steven Ulrick
Hello, Everyone
I realize that this almost certainly an issue with Serviio. But I
thought that maybe some of you have had similar issues using DLNA
servers on Fedora 20, so here goes...

I have just done a completely fresh install of Serviio 1.4.1.2 on
Fedora Linux 20. I am having an issue where MP3's that I have recently
ripped/encoded only show a length of about one minute, and sure
enough, that is as long as it plays! For example, let's say the length
of a song is 8 minutes. When I play the song using Serviio 1.4.1.2,
the length of the song is shown as 1 minute. So, I play the song, and
exactly one minute into the song, it stops and goes to the next song.

I have tried playing MP3's that I encoded a long time ago, and they
seem to show the correct length, and the entire song plays.

Some details about the old MP3's. the one's that work correctly:
They were encoded using various versions of the LAME encoder, at
128kbs and a 44.1 kHz sampling rate. Some of them were ripped from
physical, store bought CD's, the others I reencoded from MP3's I
purchased from AmazonMP3, eMusic.com or Google Play.

Details about the MP3's that are NOT working correctly:
I re-ripped them within the past few days. ALL of these MP3's are
encoded from WAV files that I got from ripping physical, store bought
CD's. I am using this version of LAME:
LAME 64bits version 3.100 (alpha 2, May 12 2014 14:40:38)

I am encoding at a 320kbs bitrate, with a sampling rate of 44.1 kHz.

Here is a log file entry showing one of the offending files:

2014-05-17 21:39:32,415 INFO [LibraryUpdatesCheckerThread] Updated
'The Day The World Turned Day-Glo' (/home/Serviio/Music/Punk & New
Wave/x/X-Ray Spex/Let's Submerge: The Anthology/Let's Submerge: The
Anthology (Disc 1)/03 - The Day The World Turned Day-Glo - X-Ray
Spex.mp3) in Library

Also, I run Serviio from a PC that I use only for that purpose. I
rsync the MP3's from my main PC. Also, if I do "ls -lh *.mp3" in a
directory on my media server that contains some of the files that
Serviio appears to be truncating, they are the exact same size as the
original file that was rsync'd from my main PC.

Almost forgot:
The drive that I am ripping with is as follows:
ASUS BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS 12X Blu-ray Internal Burner Drive with Disc Encryption

That would be one difference between my old MP3's and the new ones...

So, I am at a loss. If you have any ideas, I'm all ears.

The resulting message list may have two or three, or tonight, 20, unread
messages mixed in with the read and temporarily
saved messages, so that the Inbox reads "Inbox (20)" even tho you are at the

these 20 emails, which are scattered among perhaps 100 or more messages in the
list which have been read already.
It would be nice if there were a button somewhere that would go to the
highlighted messages, one at a time, starting at the
top and working its way down, until they have all been opened and/or deleted.

So, you have an inbox with a large number of messages. Scattered throughout
the inbox are unread messages and you want to know how to easily access them.
Yes? If I've defined the question correctly

If you have the "Menu Bar" enabled (Clicking on the T-Bird emblem is similar) you will notice you can click on
"Go--->Next--->Unread Message" or "Go--->Previous---Unread Message" to get to where you want. You can also
use the shortcut keys "N" and "P" instead.

Also, on the "Mail Toolbar" there is a "View" drop down menu which allows you to display
messages based on various criteria. One choice is "Unread". You can even make custom views.

FWIW, you may have to left click at the top of T-Bird to get a menu to select the "Menu"
and "Mail" tool bars to be visible,

Thank you, Ed. I've only been using T-Bird for about 15 years, and I
never knew about that! Solves the problem perfectly!

If you want to see messages listed in a logical and coherent order, then
use "threading," to sort messages. This sorts messages in the order
that contributors have responded to them.

If your client can't manage threading, or the senders have stuffed up
the headers that threading uses, then you can sort by subject then
posting date (the time that they wrote them, which takes different
timezones into account, at as well).

If you sort by received order, you will get them randomly arranged,
because messages are not guaranteed to be received as they're posted,
various uncorrelated delays are involved.

Thunderbird's "date" colummn in fact seems to show the date the messages
are sent. Your actual message, eg, is indicated in my date field as
"10:31" (my local time), whereas the received field shows "10:32", which

as Ed Greshko replied, you have a sort option in the "View" selection.

if you are reading emails with "Unthreaded", last of selects under
"View > Sort by", select "Date" and they will be by time sent stamp.

if you use "Threaded", use "View > Sort by > Order received" so
they will sort by time stamp.

ie;

View > Sort by > Date + Unthreaded

View > Sort by > Order received + Threaded

may not seem logical, but this is how i find it to work in
thunderbird up to 24.5.0.

Thunderbird slows down if a lot of recipients (about 86) are located in the to-header entry of a received email

2014-05-17 Thread Joachim Backes

Hi all,

I'm running thunderbird-24.5.0-2.fc20.x86_64 and seeing the following
effect: sometimes I'm receiving emails with a lot of recepients (about
86) in the TO-header-entry of this email. If I set *view->headers->all*,
thunderbird needs a lot of time (about 3-4 secs) to open and display
such an email.

Same effect if running with disabled extensions (-safe-mode).

I get rid of this effect if switching back to *view->headers->normal*.
Then such en email is opened immediately.

Anybody sees this too?

Kind regards
