Re: how to enable audio as root ?
I just tried a little experiment. In my Mate session, I opened a terminal window, became root, and played an mp3 file using mplayer. Then I hit Ctl-Alt-F2 to exit to a console, logged in as root, and tried to play the same file using mplayer. No go.Pulse audio unable to connect. Same results logging in at the console as myself, becoming root, and trying to play the file. However, logged in as myself at the console, I the file did play. Yes, but Ranjan has reported: This means that the size of a single file is probably 16K, rather than the typical 4K desktop file size. However, I do not have files that are that small where it would make a difference. So, I don't know. So this may not be the issue. Hooray - thank you, that's sorted. Now all I have to do is get the background to display. The screen always shows what was last on it when a task closes and the default wallpaper never appears. How do I get the desktop and any still-open tasks to repaint the screen? dnf and "RPMDB altered outside of yum"
Hello List, I installed dnf on my desktop (Fedora 21) a few days ago and haven't removed yum. Today I run yum as I had forgotten about dnf and got the warning "RPMDB altered outside of yum". Is the use of dnf a valid explanation of the warning I got? Is there advice as to whether to remove "yum" or alias yum to point to dnf?
