I think that's the essence of what he suggested, he may want to clarify this further. It took a few tries to understand the problem and arrive at those steps. Tomorrow I will try the same logical procedure to remove several more that have been stuck there for some time. I think it is probably not a Thunderbird bug, but rather something that happened in the process of saving those files to the server and then using them to configure new Thunderbird installations, something I did perhaps? I did get a longer antenna for the Linksys WRT54GL WiFi router. I also tried to set up a WiFi repeater (SilverCrest SWR 300 a1) but could not get it working under Fedora or Windows. I have thought of using a TP-Link which is set up on my system. But basically I just wondered if anyone had an answer to my query. The WiFi connection is only lost about once a day, so re-booting is not really a serious annoyance. I would have thought re-starting NetworkManager would re-start the network connection in the same way as re-booting, but it seems that is not so. The mail file is getting too big anyway. sounds like a bug with thunderbird. you could check to see if it is a know bug by filling in search info; https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ if nothing shows file a bug report. an easy way to remove accounts manually, instead of biting the bullet, close thunderbird, open a file browser in detail mode and show hidden. open file browser to; /home/bobg/.thunderbird/o111r0ba.default/Mail/ there you will see all your email accounts. some may have a file with .msf extension. because thunderbird does not recognize a file starting with a period, ie, ".filename" you can test for correct account/s, by renaming account/s [and .msf file/s] you want to eliminate by adding a period "." to start of account name/s. ie, wildblue.net -> .wildblue.net wildblue.net.msf -> .wildblue.net.msf. open thunderbird, if account/s no longer shows in left pane, you have correct account/s. close thunderbird again and either delete or move account/s [and .msf file/s] to a save place in case you might use again. it really is not necessary to delete/move accounts, unless you really want to clear space. reopen thunderbird, remove the filters for the deleted/removed account/s. -- peace out. in a world with out fences, who needs gates. Thunderbird filters -
I sortpop3mail into directories with Thunderbird which works well for me. However when I unsubscribe from a list I often want to remove the filter's directory is shown in the Inbox Menu at the top left. So I right click on the directory and choose delete from the menu, it asks for reassurance that I really mean delete it, I click on ok, the menu closes and the directory is still there, delete does not delete it. The list of directories grows longer with time and all I can do is rename the directories with xx's so it sorts them to the bottom of the list! This may be related to my saving the .thunderbird Mail file for years mainly to keep the filters I have ... This is Thunderbird 31.5.0 in up to date Fedora 21/22 and earlier. Am I the only one seeing this? My efforts with Google have not been much help.
