NeuroFedora is looking for a Spin/Labs master
Hello, (Please get in touch via the NeuroFedora channels) We now have enough software in NeuroFedora to create Comps groups and think of a Spin/Lab. Would anyone like to join the NeuroFedora team as our Spin master? We have two sessions at Flock too. So if you are going, please attend them to learn more: Talk: NeuroFedora: FOSS and Open Science https://flock2019.sched.com/event/S5mC/neurofedora-foss-and-open-neuroscience Hackathon: Fedora and the future of Free Science: https://flock2019.sched.com/event/SKrW/fedora-and-the-future-of-free-science FAQ --- 1. What is NeuroFedora? Essentially, it's a set of packages just like any other Fedora packages. The only difference is that these packages/software are all related to Neuroscience. This includes modelling, imaging, data analytics, and anything else that anyone interested in Neuroscience may use. 2. Why NeuroFedora? Because FOSS and Open Science go hand in hand, we've come together to provide a ready to use Fedora based platform for neuroscience users. Instead of spending time setting up their systems, installing software, we want to provide them with an installable ISO image. 3. What skills do I need to be Spin master? None at all. Spin creation simply requires knowledge of the Fedora Spin process and all of it is very well documented. Whatever skills you need can be learned "on the job". The NeuroFedora team has quite a few contributors that have been around for a while and can show you the ropes. 4. Where can I learn more about NeuroFedora? All our links are listed here in our documentation: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/neurofedora/communicating/ 5. Is there anything else I can do? Where do we even begin!? So much! AskFedora has moved to Discourse!
Hello everyone, I am happy to announce that we've moved AskFedora to a new Discourse instance at https://askbeta.fedoraproject.org. In the coming days, https://ask.fedoraproject.org will also be updated to point to the new instance. Our Askbot instance is now in read-only mode, and will be moved to https://askbot.fedoraproject.org. Discourse is a great new discussion platform that allows for conversations, in addition to question-and-answer workflows. Given how troubleshooting usually does require a few rounds of discussion, we feel that Discourse's workflow fits it just a bit better. You can, of course, mark replies as "solutions" and so on to make information easier to find. Please note that we've limited access via FAS only---it helps us combat spam, get useful metrics, and it makes it easier for folks to start contributing to the community. Please take a minute to check out the new instance. - https://askbeta.fedoraproject.org/c/start-here -> we've summarised useful tips on using Discourse in this category. - https://askbeta.fedoraproject.org/c/site-feedback -> please post suggestions, ideas, feedback in this category. -- Thanks, Regards, Ankur Sinha "FranciscoD" https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Ankursinha Time zone: Europe/London signature.asc Description: PGP signature ___ users mailing list -- users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to users-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://getfedora.org/code-of-conduct.html List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/users@lists.fedoraproject.org

Installing pandoc-crossref on Fedora 26 using Cabal
Hello, I've been trying to install `pandoc-crossref` on my Fedora 26 system using Cabal, but can't seem to do so. I've tried three different machines and get the same error on all. Would someone with some Haskell experience be able to help please? Here's the error. I've also filed the upstream but they haven't been able to help either. They've already gone ahead and done one of these. What is the use of bringing the topic up on a fedora user channel? It changes nothing, even the initial author of the email knew that. Everyone on the list even knew that F18 has the change even, apparently. Why bring this up at all then? This channel is to help people troubleshoot fedora, not to have folks who have already solved their issues scream "why did I have the issue in the first place?". We are "downstream". We take what "upstream"s make and put them together as a Linux distribution, contributing to upstreams in the process. > > > If you haven't learnt yet, venting does nothing. The public outcry that was over social networks, and discussions on the Gnome mailing lists caused the change. So, let the initial rant proceed. That's OK. That's professional, non combative, non hypocritical (even if the author already did what he had to do and is using the same DE). It is also completely professional to use phrases like "stupidity". It is also constructive, professional to rant. I understand. Thank you, Sir. > If > you're going to end a message with "LOL", you might want to consider > using your personal account next time. Why? Aren't fedora project contributors allowed to laugh? Here's the thing. A lot of people worked very hard to make each Fedora release for users. I did too. I packaged stuff, tested each release candidate, filed bugs, so that users would have a better experience. So, when people run around writing "power-off stupidity remains in Fedora 17", I'm not pleased. It's a tiny thing, known for ages, solved for ages, and yet, you have the right to defame us publicly over it, and we do not have the right to stop you. > > Regards, > > Matthew Roth > InterMedia Marketing Solutions > Software Engineer and Systems Developer > > I hope this was professional enough. -- Thanks, Warm regards, Ankur: "FranciscoD" Please only print if necessary. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Ankursinha http://dodoincfedora.wordpress.com/ signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part -- users mailing list users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines Have a question? [X-post] Fedora Tour is in need of web developers!
Hello folks! Well, the title says it all. Fedora Tour[1], which we recently decided to make a web application needs web developers. Ironic eh? The thing is: none of the current Fedora Tour team members have ever done web development before. We’re learning, but the changes with HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript have really steepened the learning curve for us. At this time, we’d like an established web developer to come in and help us reduce the learning time and get down to the implementation as soon as possible. SO! - Are you a web developer? - Do you have some free cycles? - Do you want to work on a brand new, *awesome* project? ** Give us a shout today!! You can either catch us on #fedora-tour on Freenode, or you can ping us on the mailing list[2]. I’m around on quite a few fedora IRC channels, so you can also catch me personally if you want. My nick is “FranciscoD“. The wiki page[3] for fedora tour contains all the info you’d need. Note: This is only an announcement mail. Please do not reply to it. Contact us instead! Testing required for deluge systemd unit files
Hi all, I've written unit files for deluge to be used with systemd. There are two unit files: deluged.service[1]: for the deluged daemon deluge-web.service[2]: for the web ui As far as I know, - they need to be copied to /lib/systemd/system - systemctl daemon-reload - systemctl start deluged.service - systemctl start deluge-web.service I'm not a deluge user so I don't know how the daemon etc function. I'll be grateful if someone could test these and provide feed back. I have a novice level knowledge of systemd, so all modifications to these files are welcome, as always. :) [1] http://ankursinha.fedorapeople.org/deluge/deluged.service [2] http://ankursinha.fedorapeople.org/deluge/deluge-webui.service -- Thanks, Regards, Ankur: "FranciscoD" http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Ankursinha http://dodoincfedora.wordpress.com/ -- users mailing list users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines

Hi, I'm not sure if this matters but evolution switched to using the latest XDG standards[1] for file locations in 2.32. Your user data is now no longer in .evolution, rather its in .config/evolution. The new version should automatically move files to the new location iirc. OR: You can use gconf-editor to see the settings for the address book. iirc, the source etc. are specified there. I had some trouble after a back up and restore, making some changes to the gconf files fixed it. Do back up your gconf settings before you go tweaking (~/.gconf/apps/evolution). You should also skim the evolution bug reports to see if this is a known issue. What in this file could make both rsync and git fail?? :(
Hello, I have a simple shell script which I want to upload using rsync, or to a git repository. For some reason, rsync fails, and so does git. rsync fails at "generating_files phase=1" (and times out), and git just hangs before timing out. I can't seem to paste the file to fpaste.org either. vim-latex trouble
hi, I recently came across what looks like an awesome tool : vim-latex. I've installed the fedora packages using yum. [an...@localhost ~]$ rpm -qa | grep vim vim-latex-doc-1.8.23-1.20100129.r1104.fc13.noarch vim-latex-1.8.23-1.20100129.r1104.fc13.noarch vim-minimal-7.2.411-1.fc13.x86_64 vim-common-7.2.411-1.fc13.x86_64 vim-vimoutliner-0.3.4-12.fc12.noarch vim-enhanced-7.2.411-1.fc13.x86_64 vim-X11-7.2.411-1.fc13.x86_64 I'm trying to follow the official tutorial[1]. It doesn't seem to work. The tutorial says : "If the installation went well, you should see a new set of menus appear. Goto Tex-Suite > Templates." Creating a new file newfile.tex doesn't cause this to happen. Am I missing out something? On a related note, the tutorial is for the gui version of vim (vim-X11). Would someone know how to use this on a terminal version of vim here? [1] > http://vim-latex.sourceforge.net/documentation/latex-suite-quickstart.html#lsq-inserting-template -- Thanks!
