Atomic and OpsWorks?

2017-12-08 Thread Dave Johansen
Has anyone used CentOS or Fedora Atomic with OpsWorks? My searches on the
internet haven't turned anything up, so I wanted to see if there was any
experience/advice on here.
Thanks,

I decided to give the 2.9 version that's in testing a try and it worked.

F25 now uses docker-storage-setup, so the right way to select the driver
was a bit different, but this instructions showed how to do it:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-enterprise-linux-atomic-host/7/paged/managing-containers/chapter-1-managing-storage-with-docker-formatted-containers#overlay_graph_driver

That's good to hear. Do I need to add the :z or :Z when mounting a host
directory for SELinux to work? If so, will that cause any problems when
running on Mac/Windows?

High CPU usage of kswapd0 with no swap partition?

I recently did a clean install of Fedora during the upgrade to 24. I
removed the swap partition because I'm ok with everything fitting in

something not configured correctly on my system? Or any other ideas on what
the source of this issue is?

/boot and encrypted partitions?

2015-07-31 Thread Dave Johansen
I was luck enough to be bitten by this issue (
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1212907 ) when attempting to do
a clean install of F22. I copied all of my data off and then tried manually
setting things up as separate partitions (instead of in an LVM) but it kept
telling me that /boot couldn't be on a LUKS partition. The config I had was
/home was encrypted and / was encrypted but then the biosboot partition was
not encrypted, and all 3 were standard partitions. Is this something that's
just not supported? Or was I doing something wrong?

I couldn't get GNOME3 working with dual monitors on my laptop (
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/users/2013-July/438593.html
), so I gave MATE a try and it worked just fine. It basically felt
just like GNOME2 (which makes sense since is just a fork of it) and I
didn't have any issues with it.

This article (
http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/01/installing-the-mate-and-cinnamon-desktops-on-fedora-18/
) recommends using the net install for "best results" and that
probably is the recommended way to go, but I did it as a post install
addition and it worked just fine.

Java symbolic links broken on Fedora 19?

2013-07-27 Thread Dave Johansen
I have a system that I upgraded from Fedora 18 to 19 recently and I
just installed eclipse, but it says that there's no JVM when I try and
run it. I noticed that /usr/bin/java is a symbolic link to
/etc/alternatives/java which is then a symbolic link to
/usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.7.0-openjdk/bin/java but it's actually installed at
/usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.7.0-openjdk.i386/bin/java.

Is this an issue from the update from Fedora 18 to 19? Or is it an
issue with the packages in Fedora 19?

https://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2013-July/msg00045.html
I found out from the above conversation on the gnome mailing list that
the issue is with how X/gnome_shell handles the texture allocation and
it not playing nice with the limitations of Intel gen3 video hardware:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=699705

I haven't been able to get any response there, so I was hoping that
maybe someone on here could help. It appears that the per-crtc pixmaps
have been added, but is that functionality not being used by
X/gnome_shell yet? Or is there some way I have to manually turn that
on?

Thanks,

> What can I do to help diagnose this issue and hopefully fix it?

I took a look in /var/log/messages and saw these two outputs right
after connecting to the dock with second monitor connected:
Jul 16 19:35:15 JohansenDev /etc/gdm/Xsession[1241]:
(gnome-settings-daemon:1425): GnomeDesktop-CRITICAL **:
gnome_rr_output_info_get_geometry: assertion `GNOME_IS_RR_OUTPUT_INFO
(self)' failed
Jul 16 19:35:15 JohansenDev /etc/gdm/Xsession[1241]:
(gnome-settings-daemon:1425): GnomeDesktop-CRITICAL **:
gnome_rr_output_info_get_geometry: assertion `GNOME_IS_RR_OUTPUT_INFO
(self)' failed

Are there any other logs I can take a look at? Or anything else I can
do to help diagnose the cause of this issue?

Thanks,
Dave

gnome-shell issue when ThinkPad T60 connected to dock with extra monitor

2013-07-13 Thread Dave Johansen
I posted about this issue on the devel list and it was recommended
that I try here. That conversation can be found at:
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/devel/2013-July/185305.html

Here's a description of the issue:

I have a ThinkPad T60 that I recently upgraded to Fedora 19 from
CentOS 6. With CentOS 6, I could connect to the dock with an extra
monitor connected to the VGA port just fine, but with Fedora 19 it has
issues.

It used to crash when I connected it to the dock with the monitor connected:
https://retrace.fedoraproject.org/faf/reports/142339/
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=982442

I've updated using yum and now it doesn't crash, but I can't start any
programs. When I click on a program icon to launch it, nothing
happens.

Based on feedback on the devel list, I tried the following:

The keyboard works and I can hit Ctrl-Alt-F2 and then login and run
commands on the console. I also tried creating a new account and it
has the same issue. I also tried pressing the Windows Key and the
Activities Overview doesn't pop up like it's supposed to and the only
thing that I can get to do anything is right clicking on the desktop
and then about a minute later the setting context menu will pop up.

What can I do to help diagnose this issue and hopefully fix it?
