Problems with certifcates, firefox and chrome

2024-07-07 Thread Enrique Artal
I have a strange problem in a fresh installation of Fedora 40. There is a
personal pk12 certificate used in Spain to log in official web sites and other
stuff. It can be used in several ways, e.g., to sign pdf documents with a
special app called autofirma and also with okular, and it can be stored inside
firefox or google-chrome to be accessed from the browser.
In an older Fedora 40 installation (and in previous Fedora releases) all of
this worked out flawlessly. I started to have issues in this new installation,
such that I decided to reinstall it again in case there were some issues with
dual boot since I was not able to import them in the browsers, with messages
saying that the file may be corrupted. Nevertheless it was apparently not the
case since it worked in other installations and moreover they could be used to
sign pdf documents with both okular and autofirma.
In the reinstallation I imported the certificate in firefox successfully and
then I thought the problem was gone. After updating the system and installing
more packages, I decided to import it in google-chrome without success.
Moreover I tried to import other such certificates in firefox and it didn't
work.
My guess is that some update package is blocking. I was able to finally import
it in google-chrome by copying .pki/nssdb of another computer, but this does
not work for firefox.
I made other tries, and using certutil to get the key, this program complained
about an obsolete rc2-40-cbc something; adding the option -legacy was
successful and bringing back the certificate to pk12 I was able to import it in
google-chrome (still not in firefox).

Sorry for the long message. I assume not so much people is involved, maybe
Spain residents with a fresh installation of Fedora 40. I did not file a bug in
bugzilla since I do not know which component is responsible and I hope someone
with more skill can deduce which one from the above message.
Thanks in advance, Enrique.

texlive-newtx math fonts cannot be used

2020-10-08 Thread Enrique Artal
Dear members of the list,
I filed a bug (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1832320) about some
problems using a specific package of tex, namely newtxmath.sty. I use it only
in few documents, and I do not know if it is the case for most Fedora-LaTeX
users. The bug is confirmed by other users. No pdf is obtained with the message:
"!pdfTeX error: pdflatex (file ntx-Regular-tlf-ot1r): Font
ntx-Regular-tlf-ot1r
at 480 not found
==> Fatal error occurred, no output PDF file produced!"
There is a workaround proposed by anoterh user:

$ updmap -user --syncwithtrees
$ updmap -user

There is an issue, with tons of warnings about duplicate fonts, which is
annoying. Since I do not use this package all the time I found as solution to
pass the orders above, compile the document, and then delete the folder
.texlive2019.

I wonder if someone has a better solution. Thanks, Enrique.

I think so, but I was apparently the only affected person (and not completely
since I coud use chrome). Anyway I transmitted the information to IT people.

Thanks, Fernando!
It has worked. The man page is too technical to me. Is it a risk to use firefox
like that? Regards, Enrique.

Re: Firefox does not connect to a secure page

2019-03-27 Thread Enrique Artal
Thanks for the answer. I am using Fedora 29, firefox-66.0-9.fc29; my settings
are also 4,4,1 and changing as suggested in the link do not work. Other people
in my University can get in with firefox using gentoo or ubuntu.
Something strange just happen. I have an account in an ubuntu machine. I made
ssh -CX4 to this machine and open firefox; same issue. I tried again with x2go,
no problem. Maybe it helps.

Firefox does not connect to a secure page

2019-03-27 Thread Enrique Artal
Hi,
I have a problem with firefox trying to connect to a page of my university
(address below). This is the error message:
 Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to rrhh.unizar.es. Cannot communicate
securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). Error code:
SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of
the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

It also occurs with seamonkey but it works without problems with chrome and
chromium. Other colleagues with other linux systems do not have this issue.
Other colleague installed fedora in a virtual machine and had the same problem.
Best, Enrique.
