I like the idea of creating a mirror repo, although it's less
infrastructure to use the second solution.
Thank you.

dnf nonlocal update

2015-06-09 Thread Robert Dady
Hi,

I have 2 computers: "A" has F22 and 3G cell phone Internet connection with
a limited data plan, "B" has Windows7 / Ubuntu 15.04 / F22 Live and
broadband Internet connection.

I want "A" make a (dnf) list of packages of available updates, which I
could download on "B" and install them offline on "A" from a USB stick.

Is it feasible?

Best regards,
Robert

Re: Service multiplex

2014-02-12 Thread Robert Dady
The thing is that circumvention is also possible by disabling direct proxy
script download and set direct internet access, in that case there is no
need set up service-subdomain multiplexing.

It could also be possible to set httpd:80 and everything else on 443 where
some php script switches which service is running at a given time. Although
the question is not how to shoot, but what are steps of the weapon
production.

To be honest, this sounds like you're trying to violate (or at least
circumvent) your company's security policy and I wouldn't feel right
suggesting ways for you to do that.

Service multiplex

2014-02-12 Thread Robert Dady
Hi!

I have a workplace that only allows access of "free internet" servers at
:80 (and :443).

What if my server should have several services (https, ssh, vnc etc), that
need to be accessed from this restricted subnet?
My server has an own domain, e.g. mydomain.net
My idea was to create as many tap interfaces as many services I would like
to have and bind each services to its own tap interface at port :80 and
each service should have its own subdomain i.e www.mydomain.net,
ssh.mydomain.net, vnc.mydomain.net.

Could this work? What else do I need to make this work?
This is actually a brainstorming, but who knows maybe it results something
useful.

Best regards,
Robert

bumblebee fun

2013-12-25 Thread Robert Dady
Hi everyone!
Merry Christmas!

I have successfully installed bumblebee on my F20 laptop according to
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Bumblebee.
I use my laptop mostly as xen server with F20 dom0, and in this setup
optirun fails with error accessing seconary GPU and secondary X server, but
it works fine when F20 booted natively without xen.

Any idea?

Robert

Fedora 19 tricky install

2013-09-30 Thread Robert Dady
Hi all!

I have the following configuration.
Win7 UEFI install
Fedora 19 UEFI install

Disk has GPT and Linux has following partitions:
/, /boot, /boot/efi, swap, /home (luks)

After installing Fedora 19 my system booted into Win7 instead of Fedora 19.
I have found out that the EFI entry of my previous Fedora 17 install hasn't
been modified and it was no longer valid. So bootnext booted my Win7.

Fedora 17 efi entry pointed previously to "\EFI\redhat\grub.efi"
I have made a new efi entry pointing to "\EFI\fedora\grubx64.efi" and I
named it "Fedora 19+"

I got a grub2 shell. Manually giving the root, linuxefi, initrdefi and boot
commands my Fedora 19 booted successfully.
Now I did a "grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub2.cfg"

At this point I still get the grub2 shell on boot and I need to issue the
"configfile (hd0,gpt5)/grub2/grub2.cfg".
Then I get the boot-menu I want to load automatically.

Question is where to put and how to name my grub2.cfg or what to modify
additionally to get grub config loaded automatically.
