Lost wifi elitebook 840 g1

2024-08-08 Thread jarmo
When got updated kernel into 6.9.12-200.fc40.x86_64
Stopped my elitebooks wifi working and weird thing
is, that does not work with older kernels either.
Card is Broadcom BCM 43228 802.11a/b/g/n. Strange
thing is, that lsmod shows module wl, lshw shows wlo1 bcm43228,
but no wireless found??

Thought, that card was somehow broken, changed similar
card and it shows exact the same.

So, famous question, ANY HELP?

Broadcom BCM 43228 802.11a/b/g/n

2024-08-10 Thread jarmo
Still no success...
Anyone know where from ask? I know that it is kmod from
rpmfusion, but surely someon maintains it...?
I have rpmfusion enable and kmod-wl installed, but can't get
wifi working.
I tested with Linx Mint live stick, there was same situation, first
no worky. But there was bcm-kernel-source, 6.30.223.271+bdcom-ubuntu
10-23.04-1, Broadcom 820.11 Linux STA wireless driver source, for BCM
43228 card.
Installed that with Mints driverinstaller and wifi started to work..
Where do I find working driver for my Fedora 40. I don't want to
change into Mint, or any *bubtu* systems????

Yes, I have that akmod-wl same, then I have same kmod-wl version,
rpm packages installed

When I look from /var/log/messages I see
wpa_supplicant[787]: wlo1: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-FAILED ret=22

Lsmod show that module wl is loaded and cfg80211 uses wl
that is all, what seen related to wl.

I looked that MINT live, lsmod, when there wifi works..
I see differencies.

As fedora loads
wl 6520832 0
cfg80211 1 wl

Mint loads
wl 6520832 0
cfg80211 2 wl mac80211

When I look, there is no module mac80211 loaded
in Fedora..

I downgraded wpa_supplicant and there it was,
now wifi works.
But now is problem, how to avoid upgrading that
"bad" package? other way than someone repir it?
Yes, I know, dnf update EXCLUDE=wpa_supplicant,

Hi

Installed F14 into Toshiba Satellite L40-157 laptop.
Installation went smoothly, started wihout any hickups.

But...

Using KDE and chosen digital clock, it shows HH:32 forinstance. Ie.
it does nor show hours? Where I can get hours to be shown.

It seems also, that system-config-display has left away from F14,
now where I can configure display. In systemsettings there is
"display" but it does not tell me, what card to use or what display
to use. Card is according lspci Intel GM965/GL960 family. There is
too little choises to set resolution in systemsettings, so help is
needed. At the moment 1200x800.

Also sound problems. Lspci shows Intel 82801H iC8H family.
Output is ok, but MIC is not shown in any mixer??? Ie no
inputdevices shown?? Driver or
My desktop machine 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation
N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) works
fine.

So, fresh install, all updates installed.

Yep, pulseaudio takes all controll, what a shame!
I've done, rpm -e --nodeps pulseaudio to get all controlls in KMIX
in use. Using two soundcards an there is impossiple controll them

I had same problem in fc13. Solved by removing nspluginwrapper.
You don't need it, to watch flash. No errors in logs, after removing

How about try Remi's package? Updates 3.6 FF. If I understood, FF4
is not coming for FC14? So that solves problem ?

A-link na1gu usb-ethernet adapter

2011-06-15 Thread jarmo
Anyone got this working in FC ? When I connect adapter, it is
regonized as asix. With dhcp it gets ipnumber ok, but that's it.
No traffic after that. This test with Acer Aspire 1410, which own
ether card is broken. Lspci only find that very exotic wireless, but
cant find any driver for it in basic fedora installation. So no way to
update installation.
Have tried it also in my desktop, where installed FC 15 with all
updates, working just same way. Looked driver and found from
manufacturer driver for 2.6.38 kernel. But, FC 15 is using it. Is the
driver different in FC 15, than manufacturers one?

I saw, when googled, that someone has done something to driver for
kernel 2.6.39.1 and upwards. I try compile that kernel, but any sure
knowledge, does it work?

Got adapter working, just downloaded vendors driver and compiled it
against FC 15 kernel, installed it and voila', got net working. What I
have to do, allways compile it again, when kernel changes.

So big wish to people, who maintain FC's kernel version, to take care
of this driver.

# Log all kernel messages to the console.

Ok, tnx for reply...
Just 3 hours ago, found same things. Found also rpm for fc20. Tried to
install that, worked. Now I have 2.0.4 version, but it did'nt bring me
what I suppose was waiting, namely openstreetmaps. I have loaded .osm
maps into right place here, but Xastir does not find them. I can
use shapefiles and other mapformats, but .OSM maps are not found.

Probably I am not doing right the config, but I'm stuck... Not know
what else could do. HOWTO accordinf installing OSM files, is wuite
minimal, hi.

Ok, thanks again for reply, I'll try to find way to read osm files.

Best regards

Postfix and Postgrey

2012-06-30 Thread jarmo
Hi
Has anyone managed get Postgrey working with postfix in F17?
I have huge problems.
I get:

I have had this working with old Mandriva, now I chaged into F17.
Earlier needed only line in /postfix/main.cf:
smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated,
permit_mynetworks, reject_unauth_destination, check_policy_service

But now it seems no worky.

So, any help

Icon themes

2012-09-06 Thread jarmo

Using f17 desktop KDE, now have tried change icon-themes from oxygen
into fedora. Theme manager does something, but actually does not change
anything. When I open manager again, there stands Oxygen as
icon-theme. Yes, I have reconnected into F again, even rebooted.
No luck. Anyone run into same problem?

Now the question is, that when I try to change theme into Fedora, it
returns back to Oxygen. Ok, I tried to change what ever from manager,
even those ugly ones, no way. It insist that it is Oxygen and that's it.

Kernel update

2016-01-24 Thread jarmo
How come I can save my kernel 4.2.8-300 not to be cleaned. It's now
last properly working kernel for me. Dnf update brings every now and
then new kernel and cleans older ones. I'd like to save this working,
so far, when I find new ones working. I know to set in dnf.conf
installonly_limit=# higher, so helps while, but for setting it 10 is
not wise :). Where is set that "rescue" kernel? Dnf does not clean that.

Any help?

How do you do this without pulseaudio? To me, pulseaudio is crap...
I have two souncards, one for skype and another for listening something
else, is needed..
ALSA is enough, so how we make skype working without pulsecrap?

Tried this 4.3 for fedora 15 from skype site, it starts ok, but needs
pulsecrap.

Somebody convince me, where and why I need pulse?

Camera mounting

2014-07-06 Thread jarmo
Just found weirdo action. i connect my olympus camera into computer.
Nothing happens, but I can find "unknown" in filemanager. Now try to
open it, I get response, that need to be root, to mount camera into
system What? Earlier I could mount it as a normal user...
What has happened, not using selinux or so.. Have updated system some
three times, after last camera mount, so why now have to be root, mount
camera?

I changed boot direct into graphical.target, so now I get medias

Sorry for noise, should check better my system and what I had done..

I'm usin XFCE also. But do the test. Cange your boot into multi-user

your camera. To me happened, that every time asked me for root passwd

An how come you get that 4.2.xxx version work... I had to take 4.3.x

Same here, lost lots of adresses, in some update, can't find them
anymore. Same as lots of saved messages. Whole KDEPIM mystery is
unusable for me.
I started to use Claws-Mail. There I can store mails and adresses into
readable format and read them with ordinary editor.

And it's this stupid Akonadi/Nepomut nonsense... G!

Funny thing is, you can empty trash, what you don't see :)

That was one thing, I gave up, and took Claws-mail in use. Kmail is not
good any more. Because of al kind of akonadi/kwallet/nepomuk.
And of course whole KPIM is bundled into same mystery. It seems, that
developers loves make most complicated things instead of KISS.

Amarok

2012-11-13 Thread jarmo
Hi

Just tried to testplay one mp3 with Amarok. No worky. Require MPEG 1
layer 3 plugin. I have installed all "good, bad and ugly" :) plugins
for Gstreamer, but when trying to play, poup says, that it can't find
MPEG 1 layer 3 decoder. Trying to use packagekit to install it, no
worky. F17 and all possible updates done.

Any idea?
