Re: BTRFS and Nvidia broken on F23
If only /home is btrfs, it's sufficiently late that the btrfs kernel module doesn't need to be in the initrd. So I'd be looking at other failures. If by manual mount you mean the complete command: mount -t btrfs /dev/sdaX /home and not mount /home Then that's kinda weird for it to fail. I've been using 4.2.3 for a long time, up until a couple days ago, and now on 4.2.5, and have had no btrfs related issues at all, let alone with mounting. BTRFS and Nvidia broken on F23
(Repeating myself from another thread where this was somewhat OT) I updated to F23 using the approved dnf method, with no errors. Now I have an unusable system because /home is not being mounted. It's a btrfs filesystem and when trying to mount it manually I get: mount: unknown filesystem type 'btrfs' I have btrfs-progs. This worked correctly on F22. A dnf search shows a storaged-btrfs package which seems to be new (or at least not required in F22) but installing it and rebooting makes no difference. Booting F22 mounts /home correctly, but I have no desktop as the upgrade removed my working akmod Nvidia stuff and for some reason Nouveau doesn't work. *Not* a happy camper at this point. poc -- users mailing list users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines Have a question? This is the sort of thing that makes me always reinstall from scratch in a virtual machine which I then copy to a real partition :-). Perhaps it didn't remove everything that akmod-nvidia does. Did it leave the blacklist stuff on the kernel command line that turns nvidia completely off? (I think it has 3 parameters it adds, something like nouveau.modeset=0 rd.blacklist=nouveau video=vesa:off). Or perhaps, like me, you have a maxwell card which won't work at all with nouveau - in that case you can get it to boot with vesa video by using all the above kernel parameters, but saying video=vesa:on (instead of off). Then you can see what you are typing well enough to reinstall the nvidia drivers for f22 from rpmfusion. -- users mailing list users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines Have a question?
