Evolution Update Fails

2010-06-26 Thread Jonathan Ryshpan
The system has informed me via the Update Applet that evolution needs to
be upgraded to 2.30.2-1, but the upgrade fails with these messages:
could not do simulate: empathy-2.30.1.1-1.fc13.x86_64 requires
libedataserver-1.2.so.11()(64bit)
gnome-panel-2.30.0-1.fc13.x86_64 requires
libedataserver-1.2.so.11()(64bit)
nautilus-sendto-2.28.4-1.fc13.x86_64 requires
libedataserver-1.2.so.11()(64bit) : Success - empty transaction
The system is x86_64 running Fedora-13 with all upgrades (except this one)

Is this problem just for me, or are others seeing it?

Thanks -  jon

Nope, I'm seeing the same thing.

Check the list archives over the last day or two. It's been reported
multiple times and it's being dealt with. See also the Fedora Test list.

I don't see it in the Fedora List. Probably just in Fedora Test.
Thanks for the info; I'll try once a day or so, and not worry unless the
problem lasts for more than a week.

I have the same problem on F13 i686, i think that updates dependencies
are not yet pushed.

Tip:
yum update --skip-broken

I did it and broke at least clock-applet.

Explain how! [See my older reply in your "clock-applet broken" thread.]
Yum's --skip-broken only _excludes_ packages. It does not ignore dependencies.
It would exclude the new evolution packages, since installed packages still
depend on the older installed evolution libraries/packages.

Better become accustomed to using the Fedora Updates System ("bodhi"):

  https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/

Search for the "evolution" update there, and you'll find:

https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/evolution-mapi-0.30.2-1.fc13,evolution-exchange-2.30.2-1.fc13,evolution-2.30.2-1.fc13,evolution-data-server-2.30.2-2.fc13,gtkhtml3-3.30.2-1.fc13

The update that is the culprit has been pushed to the stable updates
repository after less than two hours after the system had announced the
push to testing. Since there are no automatic dependency checks available
yet, the window for the regular extra-repoclosure run was too small.

And brave testers haven't had a real opportunity to test it either,
since it takes extra time for packages to be picked up by the mirror
system.
