I did do it as root otherwise it most likely wouldn't have uninstalled 
anything due to permissions.

Okay probably a stupid question but super important regardless, did
you perform the uninstall command (I assume you meant:
vmware-uninstall -u vmware-workstation) as root (aka su - root)?

Which vmware product did you install, how was it installed, and how did you 
uninstall it?

This looks like an issue with the vmware package, so you should report the
issue on a vmware forum where you may get help cleaning up your installation
and also trigger changes so other Fedora users don't encounter the same problem.
