Frankly I spend most of my time simply using Ubuntu so debugging a current Fedora has less familiarity. If the ctl-alt-F1 (in Ubuntu F1 to F6 yield individual virtual consoles (tty based terminal screens) where F7 gets you back to the normal X graphical display if it is up). Thanks. I had consulted Xorg, but saw nothing awry in there. journalctl will now be my next step.. Every now and then I start my computer and it boots up to a blank screen and hangs. When I move the mouse, an X-shaped cursor appears. The latter does move with the mouse.
