See if the system knows the device is there. Review dmesg, ls -l /dev/sd? etc. If after several "test" reboots the system is aware of the device. USB drive not mounted after reboot
After rebooting my FC12 system, my Seagate 1.5TB drive was not mounted. I had to unplug and plug in the USB cable to get the system to recognize the drive.
