Can you paste into a terminal and recopy from there?
I wonder if there is a issue withe mime type that nedit puts on the clipboard.
Often going via terminal will convert to plain text.

Reproducing here.. and no solution either. Just amazed that the
standard copy/paste buffer and the x11 mouse copy, stuff that work
everywhere, don't work here! I tried all ways between
nedit/pluma/geany, it's only nedit->geany that doesn't work.

I don't know since I don't use either of those. But, are you using
wayland? It might be that they are only compatible with the X
cut-paste buffer, and that the wayland interface is different enough
that they can't use its cut-paste buffer.

Also, have you tried using just the mouse to select text holding down
the left button, and pasting it using the middle button?

Hello,

I doubt it has much to do with your "nedit" - but probably much more
with your keyboard settings.

Provided you have xmodmap installed: I'd nearly bet this command
will result in nothing on your OS:

xmodmap -pke | egrep -i sigma

Here's what I get:
xmodmap -pke | egrep -i sigma
keycode 39 = s S s S Greek_SIGMA Greek_SIGMA U017F U1E9E s S

and this is Sigma here:
Σ

This is how I set it up, for the current session:
xmodmap -e "keycode 39 = s S s S Greek_SIGMA Greek_SIGMA U017F U1E9E s S U017F
U1E9E"

Long time ago I had a page, with hints on how to set up a keyboard -
only the archived version is still available:

http://web.archive.org/web/20041205031207fw_/http://wolfgangpfeiffer.com:80/foolinglinux.html#keyboard

How:
xmodmap -pke > ~/.xmodmap # This is your current keyboard settings piped into
 # ~/.xmodap - but if this file is already there, back
  # it up before doing anything

Start xev in a terminal, type 's' - check the keycode number - if it's
e.g. 39, have a look to your ~/.xmodmap you created before, search for the
"keycode 39 = "line

If it looks like this:
keycode 39 = s S s S U017F U1E9E U017F U1E9E s S U017F U1E9E

you might be able to change it by doing this:
xmodmap -e "keycode 39 = s S s S Greek_SIGMA Greek_SIGMA U017F U1E9E s S U017F
U1E9E"

To go back to default:
xmodmap ~/.xmodmap # Remember above: 'xmodmap -pke > ~/.xmodmap'

Depending on your Desktop Env. you might be able to change there your
keyboard output.

Read man xmodmap. Please don't copy the commands above without
checking before what they do ...

And be very careful with your keyboard: you need its settings to type
e.g. passwds

AFAIK nedit doesn't support UTF8.  As a matter of fact if you start if from the
command
line to edit a file with that symbol.

[egreshko@f29bk ~]$ nedit sym
nedit: the current locale is utf8 (en_US.UTF-8)
nedit: changed locale to non-utf8 (en_US)

Along with that, nedit uses xorg-x11-fonts which I don't think have UFT8
support.

I saw that too. That's why I mentioned that it's not directly motif

Apparently, this issue has existed in one form or another for quite some time.
Looking at the sourceforge tickets you can see other tickets open since 2008

I think a "different editor" is the only sensible answer at this time.  :-)

Another option is to try one of those external number keypads. They

Seems this is a long standing problem.  Google searches show the problem
existing for
years.  Haven't seen any solution but the problem itself seems to be within

Sorry, but after a reboot (and the last update!), again, the numeric pad does
not work with nedit,
what ever is the value of mouse key.

You are right, it works, but what the the link between the mouse keys and the

Why do you "compile" stuff?

All you had to do was download nedit-5.6-1.fc23.x86_64.rpm and
lesstif-0.95.2-9.fc23.x86_64.rpm and use dnf to install both at the same time.

I think you need to write this stuff down for yourself so you don't forget it
and ask
the same questions the next time an upgrade comes along.

And, you will notice that I don't copy all the folks on your Cc: line. I have
no
idea why you'd be spamming them.

Finally!!

I compiled lesstif-0.95.2-9.fc23

and run nedit-5.6-1.fc23.x86_64.rpm

Subject: Re: nedit

I compliled it, but the same issue.

Can I find a lesstif that I could install on fc26?

On sourceforge there is source code for 5.7 version from 2/8/2017

https://sourceforge.net/projects/nedit/files/nedit-source/nedit-5.7-src.tar.gz/download

You might try downloading that, and compilng it.

File a bugzilla. I would not hold out too much hope in getting this addressed.
 In
the info on nedit one is pointed to http://nedit.org which brings you to a site
whose
headline reads:

NEDit.org – Netticasinot ja rahapelitRAHAPELIT NETISSÄ
NEDit.org - Net Casinos and Gambling GRAPHIC NETWORK

Doing google searches found this to be a common complaint. Maybe you can so
some
searching and find a workaround from others.

Re: nedit

2010-03-26 Thread Patrick Dupre

F12 nedit works as follows for me

Select text with left mouse
Relocate the cursor
Paste it back with the centre mouse

I know this work fine, but not the copy (ctl c) and paste (ctl v),
from the keyboard, from the menu or from the right mouse.
However, cut work !! but not let you paste !!!

But, the expected behavior works file when only one file is open !

Regards.

If the left mouse is pressed to relocate the cursor the
selected text is lost.
(Unless the text is being pasted from an external source)

Dragging the selected text with the centre mouse will move the text
Dragging the selected text with SHIFT/centre mouse will replicate the
text

Select text, right mouse menu-copy, relocate cursor with left mouse
press, right mouse menu-paste also works

John

nedit

2010-03-26 Thread Patrick Dupre

Hello,

For a while, with fedora 10 and 11, nedit does not work correctly:
copy/past does not do the job !

Has it been fixed ?

Thank.
