[one-users] Pronblem on ONE START

2011-05-30 Thread soge george
hi All,
i installed opennebula and start command one start, it successfully
started,But today when i start working on opennebula the 'one start'
command is not working.

I have attached the commands:

[root@opennebula ~]# one start
oned failed to start
[root@opennebula ~]# one stop
oned and scheduler stopped
I am not understanding that how oned and scheduler stopped without
oned start.

And also the oned log file is:

[root@opennebula var]# cat oned.log

Re: [one-users] live-/migration not working, uknown error

2011-05-30 Thread Adnan Pasic
Hey,
I already changed that part, and also performed a "onehost sync" afterwards,
but still the "unknown error" issue appears.
I wonder if I overlooked something else...although it's not possible, because I
really read the tutorials thoroughly.
Also, I checked the lists already - I check them every time before I post
something new. I don't wanna end up spamming the whole list here! :)

Thanks very much, for the help up to now!

CHeck out the list archives, in opennebula-2.2
you need to change qmeu to qemu+ssh in one of the scripts.

If you don't find it, ask again.

Well, I connected again today, run again 'onevm delete', and this time
worked fine! This is really weird.

Version is 2.2. onevm output was "Error: Wrong state to perform action"

Re: [one-users] oned keeps dying without a trace (2.0.1)

2011-05-30 Thread florian.feldhaus
Hm. That gives us more hints, but unfortunately I don't understand
OpenNebula deep enough to be able to debug the problem from the segfault.
Best idea would be to try out the newer version of OpenNebula (e.g. 2.2)
and see if the problem has been fixed there... Otherwise, you need to wait
for feedback from the OpenNebula team.

Cheers,
Florian

Re: [one-users] access just created vm

2011-05-30 Thread Adnan Pasic
Hello Carlos,

maybe you could help me out too? I have a similar problem, which however
can’t be resolved with the answer you gave Samuel.

I try to connect from my front-end to the clusternode where the VM is
running, with the command:

“vncviewer 192.168.0.3:9876”, but I only get the answer : No protocol
specified. Error: Can’t open display: :0.0

Also, the leased ip-address of the virtual machine can’t be pinged, but I
guess that’s as expected?

Any ideas?

problems.
VNC is the best way to solve this kind of problems, but you have to connect
to your physical host IP, not the VM one:

 GRAPHICS = [TYPE = "vnc", LISTEN = "0.0.0.0", port="5901"]

Means that the physical host hypervisor will open a VNC server at port 5901,
accepting connections from any IP.

Regards,
Carlos.

Dear all,

First of all congratulations for this projects, I've just started using it

I've created the simple controller+2nodes following the website

cluster level): that is I can create hosts and nets. I'm also using the web

The problem I'm facing is accessing the just created virtual machines.
I've downloaded a qcow2 debian instance from
http://people.debian.org/~aurel32/qemu/amd64/

from the command line I can see the vm running:

know what can be wrong. Anyone can point to any documentation or how to
debug the connection?

I've also tried to create images from iso files but I'm not 100% sure I've
done it right. Is there any documentation about how to create virtual

Re: [one-users] live-/migration not working, uknown error

2011-05-30 Thread Adnan Pasic
Hey Carlos,

thank you soo much for your help. By now I can finally migrate my machines
normally. The only problem I’, still having is the Live Migration!

This is what the log says:

n May 30 12:35:39 2011 [LCM][I]: New VM state is MIGRATE

Mon May 30 12:35:40 2011 [VMM][I]: Command execution fail: 'if [ -x

Mon May 30 12:35:40 2011 [VMM][E]: Error live-migrating VM, error: Unknown

Mon May 30 12:35:40 2011 [LCM][I]: Fail to life migrate VM. Assuming that
the VM is still RUNNING (will poll VM).

Net_RX: 1248

Is it possible that I somehow messed up the TLS encryption? I configured my
cloud according to this website
http://hpc.uamr.de/wissen/opennebula-workshop/

In one point on the website it says: “For live migration and secured VNC,
Transport Layer Security needs to be set up. A step by step guide can be
found in the TLS Setup Guide of Libvirt”.

However, I didn’t dothis part of the tutorial since I didn’t find these
steps in any of the other guides I was reading, including the official
opennebula-guide. Is there something I missed? Do I have to perform this TLS
Setup? A tiny bit of further help would be more than appreciated J

Thanks in advance!

Update: Okay, the issue with "virsh list" is gone. But still the problem
with migration / live migration pertains.

Do you have to do some extra steps for live migration to work? Do you need
to create TLS keys or something, or is the standard tutorial enough for
everything to work?

The error still says:

[VMM] [E]: Error saving VM state, error: Failed to save domain one-26 to
/srv/cloud/one/var//26/images/checkpoint

It seems the folder checkpoint can't get created, or the creation of the
folder is missing somewhere in the scripts, because when I browse through to
the folder /images there is no checkpoint folder inside.

I hope those infos are sufficient to narrow down the possible mistakes?

Re: [one-users] Restarting a vm instance after shutdown?

2011-05-30 Thread Carlos Martín Sánchez
Hi Lars,

We think the model you are describing will be easily achieved in the
upcoming 3.0 [1] release.
The approach we are taking to implement persistent VM is making the VM
Template the main VM entity, as you pointed out.

With the new VM Template pool, you will be able to:

(a) A vm instance would start with its own copy of a disk image.
>

A new 'oneimage clone' command will provide a personal private copy of
another Image. Then, a VM Template using that Image can be registered using
'onetemplate create my_vm.one'

> (b) Shutdown would not delete the image.
>

The data won't be lost if the Image is persistent. Which I think is a
reasonable default for an Image created from 'oneimage clone'.

> (c) Some command (restart, or resubmit, or something) would allow one
> to restore a vm instance that had been shut down.
>

A VM instance will finish it's life-cycle after shutdown, this won't change.
But the VM Template will be still available in the pool, and can be
instantiated many more times.

> (d) Disk data would only be discarded with an explicit "delete".
>

There will a explicit delete for the disks (oneimage delete), and for the VM
Template (onetemplate delete).

Carlos.

Re: [one-users] vm resume cpu 100

2011-05-30 Thread Tino Vazquez
Hi there,

Could you please send the contents of $ONE_LOCATION/var/1/vm.log?

Also, it would be helpful if you could try to ssh to the machine, or,
even better, connect to it through VNC. For this, you should include
the following in the VM template:

GRAPHICS = [
  TYPE= "vnc",
  LISTEN  = "0.0.0.0",
  PORT= "1"]

Re: [one-users] live-/migration not working, uknown error

2011-05-30 Thread Adnan Pasic
Hello,

unfortunately the problem is still there.

It says: error: unable to set ownership of
"/srv/cloud/one/var//29/images/checkpoint" to user 0:0: Operation not
permitted

Error saving VM state, error: Failed to save domain one-29 to
/srv/cloud/one/var//29/images/checkpoint

Please help, this is slowly making me crazy.

Subject: [one-users] live-/migration not working, uknown error
