Re: [one-users] Error while creating Host on Opennebula(CentOS)

2011-06-03 Thread Idafen Santana Pérez
Hi,

In my view you shouldn't use root as your user. Which was the user
account you used to compile and install ONe? Probably root is not in
the users' database and therefore is not able to manage ONe.

Idafen

Re: [one-users] Error while creating Host on Opennebula(CentOS)

2011-06-03 Thread knawnd

Apart from what Idafen mentioned you are trying to add xen enabled host

[root@opennebula bin]# onehost create host01 im_xen vmm_xen tm_nfs

whereas lines from your oned.log says that only KVM is enable in your
current ONE

IM_MAD=ARGUMENTS=-r 0 -t 15 kvm,EXECUTABLE=one_im_ssh,NAME=im_kvm
VM_MAD=ARGUMENTS=-t 15 -r 0
kvm,DEFAULT=vmm_ssh/vmm_ssh_kvm.conf,EXECUTABLE=one_vmm_ssh,NAME=vmm_kvm,TYPE=kvm

[...]

Fri Jun 3 12:06:25 2011 [VMM][I]: Loading Virtual Machine Manager drivers.
Fri Jun 3 12:06:25 2011 [VMM][I]: Loading driver: vmm_kvm (KVM)
Fri Jun 3 12:06:25 2011 [VMM][I]: Driver vmm_kvm loaded.
Fri Jun 3 12:06:25 2011 [InM][I]: Loading Information Manager drivers.
Fri Jun 3 12:06:25 2011 [InM][I]: Loading driver: im_kvm
Fri Jun 3 12:06:25 2011 [InM][I]: Driver im_kvm loaded
So you have to either enable XEN in oned.conf or add KVM enabled host as
a Cluster node.

Nikolay.

[one-users] NFS performance tuning

2011-06-03 Thread Peter Farič

Hi!

I have the following test setup:

1 x ONE server with two Gbit ethernet cards (one for public and one for
VM VLAN). /srv/cloud is mounted on an RAID10 md array with 4 SATA2
disks. OS: RHEL6.0

2 x KVM node servers with two Gbit ethernet cards each (one for public
and one for VM VLAN). OS: RHEL 6.0

As the NFS performance is not satisfactory for any VMs that have a lot
of IO (MySQL, ...), I was wondering if you have any ideas how to boost
NFS performance? In my case the VMs IOwait was most of the time in the
70 - 90% with 2 - 6 MBytes write transfer rates.

At the moment the NFS clients mount the share with "noatime, nodiratime"
options in fstab. I wouldn't want to enable "async" since its not "safe".

How do you tune your NFS mount so the performance becomes acceptable in
medium to high IO environments?

Thanks!

Hi,

I noticed a typo in deployment.0

disk = [ 'file/opt/nebula/images//72/images/disk.0,xvda,w', ]

note the missing semicolon after "file". Can you send us OpenNebula's VM
template?

regards,

[one-users] mkdir: cannot create directory /var/lib/one: Permission denied

2011-06-03 Thread Amber Jain
Hello,

I'm trying to setup opennebula express 2.2.0 on clean install of Ubuntu
10.04.1.
My network topology consists of 1 frontend server and 1 worker node.
install.sh and node-install.sh are both installed successfully.

When I try to deploy ttylinux VM (as instructed at
http://opennebula.org/documentation:rel2.2:vmg), the VM stat shows "fail" (
http://pastebin.com/phG4xrnX).

When I tried searching google, this thread sounds very similar. I tried many
combinations of permissions but couldnot get it working. Can anyone please
elaborate as to how do I resolve this permission(s) issue?

I'm attaching relevant configuration and log files with this mail.
The output of onehost list: http://pastebin.com/gt58WUkx

Thanks in advance...

Output of "onehost show 1":
http://pastebin.com/UzDNGjDr

There are 2 machines in this setup (as I mentioned in my previous mail).
Frontend server is 'useraj2', while worker node is 'useraj1'. I can do
password-less SSH from 'oneadmin' on 'useraj2' to 'oneadmin' on 'useraj1'
(i.e. I can SSH worker node from frontend server).

# onehost create 192.168.1.5 im_kvm vmm_kvm tm_nfs
/usr/lib/one/ruby/OpenNebula.rb:93:in `initialize': ONE_AUTH file not
present (RuntimeError)

from /usr/lib/one/ruby/client_utilities.rb:239:in `new'
from /usr/lib/one/ruby/client_utilities.rb:239:in `get_one_client'
from /usr/bin/onehost:262

I suspect the basic problem is that $HOME/.one/one_auth does not exist.
However, it is not obvious to me how to resolve this based on what I
have read. The oneadmin user cannot login (by design), thus I execute
the onehost command as root. But root has no one_auth file, oneadmin has
one in /var/lib/one/.one/

I am very confused about all of this help is appreciated. Did I miss a
part of the docs that explains this?

Do I always have to set ONE_AUTH environment variable to point to
/var/lib/one/.one/one_auth? Or should the one_auth file for oneadmin
really be located in root's home directory?

Confused.

Thanks,
Robert

Re: [one-users] Setup help

2011-06-03 Thread Héctor Sanjuán
Hi,

It's not clear to me if you finally tried to "export
ONE_AUTH=/var/lib/one/.one/one_auth" with the oneadmin user and run
opennebula with the oneadmin user. It seems ONE_AUTH is not pointing to
the right file or it cannot be read (in theory it does not matter where
it is as long as ONE_AUTH is defined). This file needs to have the line
"oneadmin:password" in it.

Any case, normally you wouldn't run opennebula with the root user. I
hope this helps,

Hector
