Thanks for your answer.

Can you send the output of "oneuser show 0 -x" (or the UID of oneadmin if
not 0).

Could you also add more lines to the sunstone-server.rb, after the
$stderr.puts "User GID is #{user['GID']}":

$stderr.puts "User object: #{user}"
$stderr.puts user.to_xml

and rerun de suntone server and retry the login? You can remove the
password tags if you want. Thank you!

[one-users] ONE 3.2 general questions

2012-01-26 Thread deeepdish
Hello Everyone,

We're evaluating OpenNebula 3.2 in our environment and have a few questions:

* What is the most optimal (and recommended) approach to provide redundancy /
HA for front-end processes (oned and sched). I've been looking into drbd-type
approaches, however I'm sure others already have this in their environments,
and I'm hoping someone can provide guidance on the most reliable / best
approach to achieve this.

* Is it possible to (easily) build an image using ONE? At the moment we use
another VM manager to build a KVM image, convert the qcow2 file to raw and
import into ONE. It would be easier to build the image using ONE. Although
it seems possible, it seems like a disconnected process in making multiple
templates, saving disk images, and managing (temporary) ISO media.

* Is it possible to change a deployed VM (template)? To clarify specifically:
assume a deployed VM, and the requirement to add another disk / or
contextualization variable to an already deployed VM.I've noticed that by
simply updating the template from which the VM was deployed from, does not
change the already deployed VM. I would like to avoid deleting and
re-provisioning VMs for minor template changes.

* Is it possible to separate images/templates from VM data files? Currently
everything located in the /var/lib/oneadmin home directory. Ideally we'd like
to split the data associated with templates/images/ISOs, etc and the actual VMs
we deploy.

* Is it possible to have MULTIPLE VM_DIRs defined? We are considering the use
of CLVM (see question below) or OCFS2 to provide shared volume / file system
access. The question relates to data classification and scaling data store
capacity. Expansion of an OCFS2 FS is not possible, and migration to a larger
volume involves downtime. Deploying additional VM data stores will provide
the scalability we're after. CLVM would also allow us to add additional
physical devices to a logical volume.

* I noticed that ONE comes with TM_LVM. Does this imply that CLVM is
supported? Relating to the above question, can we have multiple volume groups
defined for data classification purposes? Are there any other considerations
/ dependancies that are necessary to enable CLVM support under ONE?

* How does ONE scale to support multiple zones? My understanding (based on
documentation) is that ONE follows a manager of managers model when it comes to
zones. A ONE front-end (master) instance can administer downlevel (slave) ONE
front-end instances that themselves manage hypervisors. Assuming HA is
possible, this leads me to believe that two (2) ONE Front-End servers are
necessary for every zone, in addition to two (2) ONE front-end servers for the
manager of managers function (master). Given this approach, sclability can
dramatically increase cloud overhead (physical to virtual server ratio),
especially for multiple datacenters (data center = 1 zone) hosting 3-6 compute
nodes each (this equates to 5-8 physical hosts considering HA front-end
servers). UNLESS There are ways / methods that are proven and would
be supported under a C12G maintenance contract that we can virtualize these ONE
front-end servers...

Thank you.

parses the context and does thre required settings.

Chances are that you are in contact with someone with such power shell

Re: [one-users] ONE 3.2 VM Management issues

2012-01-26 Thread Carlos Martín Sánchez
Hi,

The no_root_squash configuration is actually required, see the Shared File
System guide [1]. Even if qemu is executed as oneadmin, I think libvirt
still needs this parameter.

After a 'onevm shutdown' command OpenNebula sends the ACPI signal to the
guest VM, and if it does not disappear after a fixed timeout, it is assumed
that the signal was ignored and the VM is still running. You might want to
check if the acpi daemon is properly configured.
Or you can use the 'onevm cancel' command to perform a hard shutdown, in
this case a 'libvirt destroy'.

Re: [one-users] ONE 3.2 VM Management issues

2012-01-26 Thread deeepdish
Hello.

Thanks for the response. I followed the published instructions for KVM when I
installed ONE. dymanic_ownership = 0 is definitely in /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf
on both of my compute nodes. I'm still getting the CHOWN (0,0) error. I
have a work around in place at the moment, where by my NFS storage is exported
with no_root_squash (not desired, and should not be necessary given that QEMU
is running as oneadmin).

As a concequence (I think) of the above, I'm unable to successfully shutdown a
VM. Once it starts, selecting it and clicking Shutdown simply returns the
machine back to running state on the next poll interval. I've also disabled
apparmor for libvirt by touching /etc/apparmor.d/disable/usr.sbin.libvirtd.

The information about contextualization did the trick. That seems to be
working fine.

Thank you.

Re: [one-users] one 3.2: VLAN inside VM definition template

2012-01-26 Thread Jaime Melis
Hi,

that would work. Keep in mind though, that since NIC/MAC and NIC/VLAN_ID
are restricted attributes, it will only work for oneadmin:
http://opennebula.org/documentation:rel3.2:compatibility#resource_management

cheers,
Jaime

The PHYDEV attributed is used only by the 802.1q drivers.

2. What will happen if a virtual network is defined with VLAN="YES"

To do that, you will need to add a line like the following to the VM
template:
REQUIREMENTS = "VN_MAD = \"802.1q\""

you can read more about the requirement syntax here:
http://opennebula.org/documentation:rel3.2:template#requirement_expression_syntax

Re: [one-users] ONE 3.2 VM Management issues

2012-01-26 Thread Carlos Martín Sánchez
Hi,

Your 1st problem might be related to the qemu dynamic_ownership
configuration, check the kvm configuration guide [1] for more details.

About the automatic IP assignment, you need to contextualize your VMs so
they can configure the IP leased by OpenNebula, see [2] for more
information.

Regards.

Re: [one-users] tm_lvm, xen and VM delete/cancel commands

2012-01-26 Thread Rolandas Naujikas
Hi,

I just got the same situation again. When doing "delete"/"cancel" for
running VM (in Xen) and using LVM for images there tm_delete.sh is
executed before destroying VM. Xen VM has LVM volumes opened and doesn't
allow them to be removed.

Regards, Rolandas Naujikas

P.S. The problem could not be solved in LVM driver, because driver
commands are executed by opennebula.

[one-users] Upgrading from 3.0 to 3.2 source Deploy and Migrate buttons lost

2012-01-26 Thread Sándor Guba
Hi,

I upgraded from Open Nebula 3.0 (source) to 3.2 (source) and on my
WebGUI the migrate and deploy buttons disappeared.

I have exactly the same kind of problem like here, but as I see it
isn't solved:
http://lists.opennebula.org/htdig.cgi/users-opennebula.org/2011-November/007017.html

The only sunstone error in the log is:
 "GET /vendor/noVNC/include/plain.css HTTP/1.1" 404

I hope somebody can help.

[one-users] VM groups & deadlocks

2012-01-26 Thread Tomáš Nechutný
Hello,

I've a problem in my mind. Suppose I've an OpenNebula setup with
capacity for 4 VMs of certain type. I also have a separate machine
which runs some integration tests at ranomd time with tests T1 and T2
both requiring 3 VMs. When both tests start at same time a deadlock
can occur. Is it possible to somehow schedule groups of VMs so such
deadlocks can't occur? Thank you.

Re: [one-users] LDAP 2.9.85 authentication module

2012-01-26 Thread Javier Fontan
Hello,

Ldap Auth driver was made for and tested with openldap using
user/password authentication. It is able to search the username in an
specific user property and only let users from a group to be
authenticated.

This driver makes use of this ldap client library:

http://rubygems.org/gems/net-ldap

>From the documentation it seems that supports Active Directory
(http://rubygems.org/gems/net-ldap):

--8<--
Net::LDAP has been tested against modern popular LDAP servers including
OpenLDAP and Active Directory. The current release is mostly compliant with
earlier versions of the IETF LDAP RFCs (2251–2256, 2829–2830, 3377, and 3771).
-->8--

I am not familiar with Active Directory so don't know how different is
the schema is or how hard it would be to modify the driver if the
schemas greatly differ.

Cheers
